This is perhaps the most organized and expanded orchard in much of Northern New England, perhaps even a little Disneyfied but that's not a pejorative, because there's something for everyone. As well, it is a charming place in a beautiful town. Alyson's Orchard has vineyards, apples, pumpkins, peaches, squash, berries, and several other fruits. It also has a few ponds within the property. It also has a hotel within the premises. It also has a wedding venue. And a playground. And shuttle trucks to take you to the events or the latest opening in the ripe apple varietals. Then there's the store. Everything about fruit. Spices, baking and cooking and God knows what else. Inside and outside. And if picking your own fruit is not your bag - or your bushel, you may buy them freshly picked in front of the store. We came here to pick apples for pie baking. Well we had our fill. No less than seven varietals including Northern Spy, our baking favorite. The tractor-pulled passenger cart was part of the attractiveness. The driver knew where each variety was located and even gave us tips on harvesting the apples. On top of that - the scenery was breathtaking. Definitely a stop for the weary traveler as well as the pie baker as well as the scenic photo shooter.

The spray signs are correct! Alyson's transitions to new owners in November. I was hesitant to come to pick but the property and views are still amazing.

Great place to spend a few hours. The views are stunning and there is so much to do. You can wander around the Orchard, pick apples, pet goats, and enjoy the large pond. The farm stand has lots of apples available in bushels and bags, as well as interesting pumpkins and gourds, pleasingly displayed. The farm stand is on the smaller side, but they have cheeses, syrups, and lots of baked goods. I saw a delicious homemade caramel apple, but only purchased hot mulled cider (delicious and just $2!) This is a great place for kids, too. There was a playground with swings, lawn games, corn hole, and fun photo opps. Definitely a spot to visit in the fall!

Love this orchard, I live nearby and go for pyo apples and peaches each year. The orchard manager, Homer Dunn is extremely knowledgeable and kind, he made my day helping me out with some peaches today.

This weekend we took a trip to Walpole NH to do some apple picking for our second time at Alyson's Orchard. This apple orchard is an incredible place to pick apples as well as enjoy their amazing views. This orchard has to be one of our favorites for a few different reasons. The first is that it has an incredible selection of apples. The second reason is that the staff here is incredible and they always have a ton of events during the weekend. By the time we left their grounds we had picked some apples, bought some pumpkins, shopped for bakery items and listened to a band playing. In the end we had a blast and we will continue to come here every year to pick some incredible apples on some breathtaking grounds.

Peach pie: $17 for pie with one peach and lots gloop. Two stars versus zero is because of the good crust. Too bad inside was a ripoff.

This Inn is going to change your life…read more Months ago, all I wanted to do is book a cozy, romantic, farm B&B on our first-time New England escape. (which the Inn certainly delivered) But now...I can't stop thinking about the powerful reality of farm-to-table living and Jackie's insistence that we finally pick up and read The Omnivore's Dilemma on the nightstand in every guest room. The many awards and accolades this place continuously receives year after year speaks for itself. Let me tell you about our experience: We booked the Mustard Room and since Jackie had other rooms available, she upgraded us to stay in the Rose Room. Bonus. The bed was fit for a king and after a long drive we snoozed until the wee hours enjoying pure luxury. If only we could have spent more time exploring the rooms which were decorated with rich detail. Have fun playing board games in the front room or pick up a cozy book in the library room. The bathroom feels like a spa and the sunroom is where you need to spend your time. Better yet...get outside and explore the grounds! Learn how to build your own compost, collect eggs, pick vegetables, play with the animals and so much more. Lola just comes out and gives lots of love :) The 3-course candlelight breakfast was delicious! On how many occasions have you enjoyed a beautiful flower with your meal as you chat with the cook about how many more blooms you should eat for a balanced meal? My first popover was steamy and tasty. Too bad I filled up on the complimentary cookies in the pantry that I couldn't eat more. But you know what? These cookies were the number one recipe in town. No, really. They won the local contest for best cookie. I think I ate like 10 cookies in one hour. You have to stock up on the town's NUMBER ONE cookie!! No shame! But the food really is incredible. All straight from the farm. All organic, all sustainable. The partnership with local farms and shops is inspiring. Jackie gave us great tips on things to do in town and the best way to enjoy hot cocoa at Burdick's. (half and half). Probably the best tips she gave us were life-changing and inspiring for our future farm to table efforts. One day, Jackie! One day! You really need to stay here and taken an apprenticeship on sustainable farming. I still find myself wondering how much Coco and Lola have grown (friendliest goats in the world). The Inn really did change my life.

Always love our stays - and leave looking forward to our next trip!!!!…read more Staying at the Chesterfield Inn Bed and Breakfast is never a disappointment. From the moment you walk in you are treated with warm hospitality by the owners Judy & Phil along with their staff. Something that stands out is the staff have been the same, which speaks for the owners. I can't say enough about how friendly, accommodating, and welcoming, everyone. We stayed in the main building, in rooms 17, 15, 12 & 14 all have cozy accommodations that are spacious and very clean. Room 15 was a two-room suite with a gas fireplace that we enjoyed in the evening. Room 14 also has a gas fireplaced that we enjoyed. Our favorite room is 12 on the first floor with a private balcony. All the rooms have very comfortable beds, and each room has a small refrigerator. Each of these rooms all had a view of the mountains in the background. Breakfast is included and is served in the lovely dining room. Thersa is very friendly and always ensures we have everything. Breakfast starts with fresh baked muffins and fruit. There is always a selection for breakfast from eggs, omelets and either French toast, waffles or pancakes. I have enjoyed different omelets, the Cinnamon French toast, waffles w/strawberries and blueberry pancakes served with warm maple syrup that comes from a local farm. In the afternoon you can relax by the fireplace in the parlor and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea with a variety of fresh baked cookies that are set up for your enjoyment. I highly recommend having dinner in the dining room that is right on the premises at least one night during your stay. The chef prepares great meals, and the menu has a very nice selection. Service has always been exceptional. There is a nice selection of wine, beer and specialty cocktails to choose from. I would highly recommend taking a ride to the "Vermont Country Store" during your stay. The store brought us back to our childhood with the nostalgic toys, rows of penny candy and the original tins of "Charlie chips and much more! Judy and Phil, along with all their staff, are very kind and caring. Thank you all very much for a lovely stay. See you on our next stay. Kathy & Ray Milford, CT

The rooms also don't smell like dog, which is impressive, most do over time! The room I stayed in had a cozy fireplace, and they can do room service for dinner or breakfast.
