Nice variety of apples for PYO. They also have bagged apples as well. Peaches were good as well. As in any PYO orchard, be prepared for some walking and lugging around bags of apples. Beautiful location (very scenic). They just weddings as well. Donuts were very good. Cider is very good as well. They sell some local products as well. Plenty of parking and outside seating. This is perhaps the most organized and expanded orchard in much of Northern New England, perhaps even a little Disneyfied but that's not a pejorative, because there's something for everyone. As well, it is a charming place in a beautiful town. Alyson's Orchard has vineyards, apples, pumpkins, peaches, squash, berries, and several other fruits. It also has a few ponds within the property. It also has a hotel within the premises. It also has a wedding venue. And a playground. And shuttle trucks to take you to the events or the latest opening in the ripe apple varietals. Then there's the store. Everything about fruit. Spices, baking and cooking and God knows what else. Inside and outside. And if picking your own fruit is not your bag - or your bushel, you may buy them freshly picked in front of the store. We came here to pick apples for pie baking. Well we had our fill. No less than seven varietals including Northern Spy, our baking favorite. The tractor-pulled passenger cart was part of the attractiveness. The driver knew where each variety was located and even gave us tips on harvesting the apples. On top of that - the scenery was breathtaking. First of all, I typically do not leave reviews. This experience warrants one. My family and some close friends take trips each summer and often stay at an Airbnb. We chose the Rochambeau Lodge due to the size to accommodate the large group we had. The write up for the location and the setting in the New England countryside is what peaked our interest. We've been to New Hampshire several times and love coming back to the mountains. We are not people who complain, however, some things need to be addressed. It was the interaction with one of the hosts which led us to ultimately write this review. There were some issues with the cleanliness of the place. Mouse droppings, bees coming in the kitchen, ragged furniture with clear evidence of rodent activity and some questionable stains on pillows and more. Also, there were limited clean pots and pans. We were willing to let some things slide and address them at the conclusion of our stay. We had absolutely no intention of writing a negative review. Again, some of us drove quite a distance to be there and we were just happy to see each other. During our stay, I had some itching on my neck. I asked my wife if she thought it was poison ivy. It wasn't. Chalked it up to maybe some mosquito bites. Fast forward to mid week and the spots on my neck continued to grow. On our second to last night, my wife, who happens to be a biology professor and entomologist, found something crawling on our sheets. It was a bedbug. While trying to wrap our heads around what we found, we found more crawling on our pillows and sheets. We shared our findings that night with one of our friends and immediately switched rooms. We didn't want to upset anyone else in the house at that point because it was well after midnight. After a night of no sleep, we brought this to the attention of one of the hosts of the property. Here's why I'm writing this. The host stated that "bedbugs are microscopic and you can't see them." Interesting take because we saw them up close and personal and I had the bites on my neck as well. We bagged a couple of bugs and stored them in the freezer as evidence. Our concern was not taken seriously and quite honestly, was very belittling. People want to be treated with respect. This is not how you handle people's concerns. Bringing over new bedsheets is not going to eliminate the problem. Bedbugs don't just go away. We had fourteen people staying in this house. All of us had to leave with concerns of bringing them home. All clothing, bags and luggage had to be thoroughly washed or simply thrown out. The offer was made to stay in another location on the property, but it wouldn't of been big enough to accommodate our group. A partial refund was also issued through Airbnb, but the pain of this experience still stings. Besides, the damage had been done. The other concerns, mouse droppings, etc. he stated that he "wished he knew sooner and that they had a new cleaning service." This turns the blame off of them and puts it onto us, for not notifying them earlier; or on the cleaning service, for not doing an adequate job cleaning. This isn't our problem seeing we spent over two thousand dollars to stay in the lodge which included a $275 cleaning fee. Simply put, the lodge was not ready and not clean. If it isn't ready and there isn't any over site on the cleanliness, then it shouldn't be rented. It is not our job to walk into a rental and make sure it's clean. Not knowing is not an excuse. We do not wish any harm on anyone's livelihood and well being. If you and your family were staying and experienced this, would you be ok with this? We understand that you cannot control that guests brought bed bugs into the home. We get it. We are upset at how our findings were minimized. This lodge has a lot of potential and can be a great place to stay. It needs a lot of TLC and new furnishings. When you are hosting, please know that there are good people who spend hard earned money to stay at a place where you want to feel welcome. As hosts, sometimes you are going to have concerns and your guests will want to feel validated when addressing you as hosts. Not once did the host express genuine empathy or concerns for our situation. He seemed more interested in defending his position and provided excuses for why he should not be responsible for these issues. My advice...listen. Take the concerns of your guests seriously, handle them appropriately and treat people with respect. read more

We recently returned home from a stay at Rochambeau Lodge (property at Alyson's Orchard). This location does not even deserve one star. We endured mouse droppings in the kitchen cupboards, mouse droppings/nest in the sofa, bees entering through the wall, a blood stained pillow case and BED BUGS! After reporting these concerns & leaving a day early from our vacation, we were offered only a partial refund. The cleaning fee alone was $275 and the property clearly was not clean. It is an abomination that we did not receive a full refund including all fees! read more

Held my daughter's wedding here on their beautiful grounds. Plenty to do over the weekend with the pond for swimming and fishing, the play ground and animals. Unfortunately there were some issues with the hall for reception. The AC could not accommodate the 130 guests in attendance and throughout the night the thermostat was reading around 84 degrees. We were told they couldn't make it any cooler. This happened to be during one of the heat waves with high humidity. It was very uncomfortable for guests and embarrassing for the bride and groom. The bar was another issue. We had an open bar so you would think they would have staffed it accordingly. That was not the case. The line to get up to the bar wrapped through the tables and once you got up to place your order you then waited about 10-15 minutes for your drink. The bar ran out of 2 of the signature drinks within the first hour and didn't even have something as simple as Prosecco. I did reach out to Alyson's orchard and the reply I got was, verbatim, "We will take everything you have mentioned to us into consideration as we move forward. Thank you for communicating with us about it". I feel like it would have been nice of them to at least acknowledge there were issues and offer an apology since we paid a lot of money for the use of their venue. read more

Great place to spend a few hours. The views are stunning and there is so much to do. You can wander around the Orchard, pick apples, pet goats, and enjoy the large pond. The farm stand has lots of apples available in bushels and bags, as well as interesting pumpkins and gourds, pleasingly displayed. The farm stand is on the smaller side, but they have cheeses, syrups, and lots of baked goods. I saw a delicious homemade caramel apple, but only purchased hot mulled cider (delicious and just $2!) This is a great place for kids, too. There was a playground with swings, lawn games, corn hole, and fun photo opps. Definitely a spot to visit in the fall! read more

Came here for my BFs cousins wedding. Terrible service. The bartender was so rude to us. I am currently 23 years old. And she cut me off after 2 drinks. I was nothing but nice to her. No attitude or anything. But served the underaged kid at our table 8 drinks in the past hour. She was screaming at us in line telling us not to form a line. Weddings are supposed to be a pleasant experience and I would 100% NEVER book a wedding here based off of this service. She was the chubby brunette bartender if anyone already booked a wedding here. This weekend we took a trip to Walpole NH to do some apple picking for our second time at Alyson's Orchard. This apple orchard is an incredible place to pick apples as well as enjoy their amazing views. This orchard has to be one of our favorites for a few different reasons. The first is that it has an incredible selection of apples. The second reason is that the staff here is incredible and they always have a ton of events during the weekend. By the time we left their grounds we had picked some apples, bought some pumpkins, shopped for bakery items and listened to a band playing. In the end we had a blast and we will continue to come here every year to pick some incredible apples on some breathtaking grounds. read more

Nice 24 hr bathroom available for roadtrippers, and if they are closed you can buy whatever produce is available using the honor system. Signed a contract in March 2022 for May 2023 wedding and sent deposit. Check was not cashed for 10 days and no returned contract. After days of ignored emails, voicemails and repeated attempts to contact wedding planner, I was finally told that the price had gone up. Original price $5,500 for Orchard room- new price $15,500! No additional services included . Wedding planner was rude, unapolgetic and unprofessional. Very glad this did not work out, even though a compete waste of precious planning time. Stopped here as a break from my long drive home, and I'm glad I did. As others mentioned once you travel up the long drive, the view is gorgeous, the orchards are well maintained, and the owners (though I didn't actually meet anyone) seem caring and sweet. Raspberry and blueberry picking were in season, which means that the farm stand wasn't officially open yet. However, there were clear directions about how and where to pick as well as how to pay. It's rare to see a honor system these days, and it made me feel really nice. I am holding out my last star because I would've liked to see the farm stand. One of the reasons I stopped was to pick up other produce as well. The PYO was great, as were the views - including a lovely giraffe statue, so I definitely did not leave disappointed. We had our wedding at Alyson's Orchard on May 26th. We decided that it was the perfect place to get married as soon as we laid eyes on the rows of gorgeous apple trees. Fran and Kelly were extremely helpful from the beginning, showing us every part of the property, and continued to be helpful in telling us about vendors. They made sure that our wedding day went off smoothly, and the place looked beautiful for our special day. I was married here this past October and it was literally a fairytale. The Orchard Room sits perched a top the hill overlooking the acres of apple trees. The back deck overlooks a beautiful pond and more trees. Fran, her husband Max (a.k.a. "Max Pyro" - does the best fireworks show this side of the Connecticut River!), and their staff are kind, competent, patient, and just altogether wonderful. Fran offered me nuggets of valuable information through the entire process and made it a painless experience to plan my wedding. They offer on-site lodging by way of a converted farmhouse and a converted barn/lodge. Both are just beautiful. It is definitely a place to visit (even if just to hit up the awesome farm stand full of delectable treats). read more

Our June, 2014 wedding at Alyson's Orchard was fantastic!! It was worth it and then some, and we couldn't have dreamed it better. Stunning grounds and veiws means any backdrop is a good backdrop (even blury selfies are pretty there!). Knowledgable, super patient and approachable staff to walk you through the process and the grounds, and then patiently walk the parents through again. Their venue coordinator, Fran, is so ninja with the logistics and really does think of everything, but she also really listens to what sort of atmosphere you're going for and ensures that your personallity and little details shine through. We were able to acchieve an elegant and somewhat formal affair while still staying true to our whimsical and outdoorsy selves, and Fran helped us merge my parents vision with mine so gracefully. My crew of bridesmaids and their families stayed at the Rochambeau Lodge at the back of the property and it was wonderful for them to have a home base right on site that was so well equipped, comfortable and beautiful -- it also allowed them to relax and enjoy their destination (and each other) with a private sauna and outdoor fire pit, big yard and farmhouse table. Hot water for all 16 of us! Their choice to have my best friends stay there made the weekend extra special for me, and will be remembered for a lifetime. Paths are well maintained, clean and comfortable transportation to outdoor ceremony sites were provided, seats on the patio for elders during cocktail hour, a large bathroom, sturdy chairs.... Handicap accessible and kid friendly every step of the way, which should go without saying but needs to be said! Rustic beauty with the backing of a first class staff. You can't go wrong! read more

We had our wedding at Alyson's Orchard last September, and I can not say enough positive things about them! The orchard provided a stunning background for our event. There are multiple ceremony sites, we chose the Outlook on the hill but Sarma's Pond view is also beautiful. The Orchard Room reception area provided plenty of space for our 165 guests. The patio attached to the Orchard Room was great for cocktail hour, and anyone who wanted some fresh air throughout the evening. The true shining star of this company though is Fran, the event coordinator. She helped us every step of the way! She is such a warm, caring, and competent person we had total trust in her advice and attention to detail (and this coming from a bit of a control freak!) She organized and accommodated every request we threw at her, and guided us on the things we were unsure of. She single handedly made our entire wedding experience more enjoyable! THANK YOU FRAN!! I highly recommend to anyone looking for the destination or wedding weekend experience look at Alyson's Orchard. We rented all three of the cottages attached to the orchard for our weekend, and had a catered BBQ reception with live acoustic music on the back patio of the farm house. It was an ideal way to have our entire family and wedding party stay on site with us, and be able to spend quality time with many of our guest before the main event. We now returning to visit the orchard each fall to enjoy picking apples and peaches. (Their peaches are to die for!) We had our wedding at Alyson's this past summer and it proved to be the perfect venue for us. What we loved about it: 1. Have you seen the pictures? It's gorgeous! The property has several beautiful spots where you can choose to have your ceremony. We opted for Sarma's Pond, which made a stunning backdrop to our photos. Guests arrived at the main hall and got to take a tractor ride (kind of like a hay ride but with benches and no hay) through the orchard down to the ceremony site. The main reception hall also has a picturesque pond surrounded by weeping willows. 2. The reception hall itself is beautiful. Its windows fill the room with natural light and offers great views of the orchard. Ample space. We had 165 guests and still had plenty of room for a dance floor, live band, buffet and gift tables, etc. The space doesn't need much decorating - it's already so pretty. AC was clutch for us as it was 90 degrees on our wedding day. 3. You get the entire venue all to yourself and there's on-site housing. They let us come in on Friday at noon, giving us plenty of time to set everything up for the rehearsal dinner and wedding. We paid extra to keep the Rochambeau Lodge for Sunday as well, which allowed us to host a brunch in the lodge the morning after for all of the guests staying on-site. 4. There is plenty of free parking and the location is a short drive from Keene where there are plenty of reasonably-priced hotels and restaurants. 5. Since it's a more secluded location, you can have your band play until midnight. This was a major selling point for us as most venues require music to end by 10pm. 6. Alyson's is kid-friendly. There's fruit-picking, a huge jungle gym, and paddle boats to take out on the property's ponds. My nephews had a blast. 7. You can choose to work with any vendor you would like, with the exception of caterers, for which you can choose from a list of 15 excellent choices. They are incredibly flexible at Alyson's and we loved being able to make the wedding truly our own. 8. The event coordinator, Fran, is amazing. Hands-down the most helpful, kind, experienced, and reliable coordinator a couple could ask for. Responsive to our every needs and made sure that everything went absolutely perfectly the day of. Her services are included in the venue rental and I can't stress enough how instrumental she was to making everything go exactly as planned. My husband and I didn't have to worry about anything on our wedding day. We met with Fran several times before the day of the wedding to communicate our vision for the event. She had wonderful suggestions, was responsive to our every inquiry, and went above and beyond to make the day memorable for all the right reasons! We had our wedding at Alyson's Orchard. The pictures don't lie, Alyson's Orchard is a beautiful venue. In addition to the the gorgeous scenery (it overlooks Vermont), our hat's off to the event manager Fran Imhoff. This lady made it possible to plan an entire wedding from out of state for a couple that works opposite hours using nothing but email. We took advantage of all the amenities available. I can't express just how clutch it was to be able to house 30+ people within walking distance of the venue for the entire weekend. We did a lot of the reception hall preparations ourselves (turns out you can more than double your flower count if you forgo a florist and arrange them yourself), and having a lot of hands available to help out with menial tasks essentially within shouting distance cannot be overlooked. Fran was also flexible about when we could have vendors drop off / pick up, which made our lives a lot easier. If you do go visit and get the wedding FAQ / booklet from the Orchard, do read through it carefully. We were not anticipating a couple of the Orchard's policies (re: caterers and the bar) even though they were clearly detailed in the information we had been given. Of course by that point, we were committed, and just had to adapt. I should stress that we have no regrets about the venue. Everything was wonderful, and beautiful, and we received nothing but compliments from our friends and family about the scenery and reception. Just.. you know... forewarned is forearmed. read more

My goodness, I have never seen such amazing customer service. I'm a wedding photographer and have shot at many, many venues but the Customer service from the event manager, Fran, was impeccable. She was on top of everything. She made sure the brides day went smoothly and she caught each vendor up separately. She was always smiling and accommodating! I have never seen a wedding coordinator in such great spirits and on the ball like her. Everyone there was friendly, even the security guard had enticing conversations! It was a great feel. Not to mention how gorgeous this location was. As a photographer l was blown away by the choices I had to photograph the bride and groom in! There are many dirt paths, apple trees, ponds, docks, horses and more! I have never been to a venture that included so much in one. This is by far the best venue I've ever shot at! We had our wedding at Alyson's Orchard this fall. Really, we can't say enough about Fran and her crew. They made everything run smoothly and were so welcoming. Fran was very responsive, positive and willing to help us figure out what we needed. My husband and I are very detail oriented and even after many calls she got right back to us and always was happy to hear from us. She also took time out of her day to show my dad the property when he showed up unexpectedly to "check things out" a few weeks before. The location is stunning and the ability for so many guests to stay on site really made our weekend. We enjoyed the wide variety of activities available on the property - ponds, fishing, apple picking, and more. Planning a large wedding (200+ guests) can be so stressful but the staff was responsive, intuitive, and helpful - and most importantly captured the essence of the day we all wanted. My husband and I were married here on September 12th 2010....it was absolutely perfect! Fran and all the staff were amazing, they made things so easy and memorable! We still have people comment on what a great time they had and what a beautiful place to get married. We have since been back to apple pick last year while I was days away from my due date with our first child. The next few days I spent baking up a storm...apple pies, apple bread, apple sauce..you name it I made it (apparently my form of "nesting"). My niece got married in September at Alyson's Orchard. We went to Alyson's three times prior to the wedding to meet with Fran, the Event Coordinator. She is amazing! Such attention to detail and great recommendations for florists, caterers and other vendors. It is obvious when you meet Fran that she wants your event to be perfect and understands that every wedding is unique. Fran made sure the wedding, reception, and our stay at Alyson's was perfect! She is patient, intuitive, flexible, organized, knowledgeable and most of all just a great person. Homer saw to every detail of the set-up of our multiple events. The venue was beautiful, the ceremony site was perfect, and everyone who we worked with from Alyson's was incredibly nice. We had our ceremony at 4pm, then everyone was brought back to the event hall on the tractor pulled carts where we stayed until about 11pm. After that we retired to the lodging just off site, a perfect and relaxed way to end the day. The whole weekend was wonderful, all of our friends and family raved about how perfectly it went. Every year my boyfriend and I make a day of walking around Alyson's, picking apples and taking our annual alyson's photo at a certain spot, across from the pond over looking route 10. Well this will be our last year because while walking to the spot we like to take our photo at the guy that was a tractor driver for a wedding that was going on decided to yell at us from across the pond to "go, get away" multiple times while waving his hands and pointing) He was very rude and it was embarrassing that he chose to yell at rather then come up to us and ask us nicely to leave that side of the orchard for another 10 minutes (I should also mention when we were walking by the wedding was over and everyone was leaving the area). In the future if there are areas of limits the person selling the bags for picking should tell the customer or there should be a sign that says area closed. Other then our experience with the angry man we like Alyson's, but as two customer service employees I can't see past treating customers like that! read more
