    Maintenance/employees parking where parking isn't allowed. Why don't they ever get towed like I did?

    A woman was murdered here at the Alys and many of us do not feel safe living here anymore.... People have been emailing the complex about the further actions Alys will take to prevent this kind of thing from happening again and asking how they will better security. However, people are saying your company hasn't replied to people after multiple emails. So what's being done with security here to keep us safe? The murderer was able to get into our unsecured apartment community that was once secured via security gate and security guards. What steps have Alys/Knightvest taken to ensure the safety of us here now that someone was able to get in to the property to stab someone to death? Had we had a secure entrance that lady would most likely be alive..... This murder happened 100 feet away from where me, my child, my wife, and my dog live. Is your company going to assume since responsibility and correct this non secured entrance issue? Why does the Seagrove and Rosemary apartments complex get a secured entrance and we don't? That's really fucked up and now someone is dead. Shame on Alys/Knightvest

    Today! Mike came by killed a wasp nest that he said had about 60 wasps, the other had about 6. He cleaned my windows and balcony. This is the kind of service I expect for what I pay for. He kept his word 2 days in a row. He made my day. I hope this complex keep him. Thanks to Mike! Today I give 5 stars. Professional, and took pride in his work.

    Very family oriented atmosphere!! Love living here!! Newly renovated to a upscale and modern look!!! Totally enjoy my time at home!!!

We were accepted in a few days and the whole process was very smooth and easy to do! The apartment: we went with a 2 bedroom and it's the perfect size for my partner and I! The apartment is roomy, the kitchen is spacious and the island in the middle is oversized!... in the best possible way :) . All appliances are whirlpool and run perfect! The tubs are huge with white subway tiles and a double vanity in the main bedroom. The walk in closet is great in the main bedroom the one in the spare room isn't as big but still a good size walk in closet. We have a small balcony with storage which helps a ton for holiday decor :). Also the there is great insulation in this apartment!! The air con and insulation: let me start w I run HOT! Like, let me sleep in the attic w ac and fans on hot! We have our ac set to 75-77 during the day with NO issues! Fans still on. I've had days when it's set at 75 and fans on I've used a blanket (this is not normal for me lol) the windows in the apartment are what I think is called dual pane insulated storm windows - if you're a clean freak like I am you're able to remove the windows on cleaning day to get the other side of the glass! It's great. The pool is huge and active! We love seeing people down there having fun and have gone down for our own float session :).     The Retreat is a relatively quiet, safe, well-managed, well-maintained complex. Management is very…read morefriendly and always responsive to maintenance issues and repairs are completed within a very small timeframe. Management is also very attentive to concerns of the community. There is a privacy fence that makes the area more secure. For example, my wife never feels unsafe walking a dog at night. The pool on-property is also very well-kept and a nice place to hang out. For the most part, neighbors are friendly and aren't annoying. The only concern I have is that people are way too lax with their dogs. Dogs are allowed to wander off-leash and no enforcement exists. I've had dogs growl at me as I walked to my room because they weren't supervised. Combine that with the fact the breed restrictions aren't enforced (meaning you see quite a few pit bulls), and I do feel the environment is right here for an accident involving someone's dog, or worse a dog-related Injury. Overall, this is by far one of the best complexes in Conroe and should be at the top of your list.

Moving in this place seemed like the perfect started apartment for me while I'm in college. I was in the smallest one bedroom apartment they offer (550+ sqft.), but at a bit of a pricey amount of rent ($950). It was a nice establishment so I didn't question it being a little too much. The first year here I had no issues but after that everything started going downhill. I moved in with one pet paying the set 250 refundable and 250 non refundable deposit. I acquired a second pet the next year. Before I had time to go report my new pet to the office maintenance decided to tell them for me, as I received a nasty email from the office about finding my second pet. I go up to the office to explain the situation, when they tell me all I have to do is pay a second payment of $500 deposits split like the first set. Everything had been taken care of so I thought. Recently I had moved out only to find they took 250 from me claiming they only took a total of $750 instead of the $1000 deposit I made. The lady on the phone was rude and bitter in explaining to me that there was no way I paid $1000 it should have only been $750. If I would have known this to be an issue I would have certainly kept the money order stubs to prove to them that they stole the additional $250 I gave to the for the refundable portion of the deposit. The other issue I had with this place was the neighbors and community. I've had packages stolen off my doorstep since the office no longer holds them for us. I've had the cops called on me twice for listening to music not at high volume, but because the lady who just moved in hated that I played music past 8pm. The cop was extremely rude and lying about the frequency he has been called on about my music saying this was the 3rd or 4th time, threatening me with tickets etc. in almost a year and a half of being there no one ever had an issue with me until cranky Karen moved in next door who didn't like the young girl with tattoos staying up past 9pm. Then to top it off some lazy new move in began putting there trash near my apartment because they didn't want to walk to the dumpster. My neighbors automatically assumed it was me dumping trash there so it started getting placed right outside my door step. I made two very elaborate signs asking in the most assertive way to please stop dumping your gross garbage by my apartment. It took this complex an entire month to get this under control. Their awful method was to threaten the entire building of being fined. I've also had issue with vehicle break ins, towards the end of my stay at the retreat someone broke into my car going through every compartment throwing my stuff around stealing my stuff. For being "a gated community" anyone could come in if they sat at the front for a few minutes to follow someone in. The gates were also broken for weeks on end allowing complete access for non residents to come and go. The last issue I have with this place is how they drain your pockets. You would imagine if you renewed your lease somewhere it would be the same or possibly cheaper right? Nope they went up after the first year. About $100 more to my rent for this tiny hard to breath in apartment. After that I realized I can't deal with this anymore it's overpriced for something that should be 800 a month tops. So about a month or so out before my lease ended I decided not to renew for that rate. I was ready to leave for good. Then I get the upsetting news that I have to give them a 60 day notice?!? How am I supposed to know or even remember that from the lease? 30 days sounds reasonable but two months? So unfortunately I had to stick it out there for two additional months paying the insane month to month rent of $1150 for a tiny uncomfortable 550 square foot apartment. If you're thinking of moving in here, unless you have cash to burn and don't really care about your thing being broken into and stolen go for it.

    I wouldn't recommend moving here for several reasons. 1st, rent is cheap bc the apartments are…read morecheap, you will hear everything your neighbors do. Doesn't matter which floor you're on, you'll even hear from the apartments beside you. 2nd, you will hear the highway all day and night. Honking, sirens, motorcycles racing, accidents, all day long! 3rd, the buildings look pretty on the outside, but they are very old! The pool has a black slime that consistently returns, the carpets haven't been replaced in ages and as apartments are re-rented they remove the carpet and change the flooring to vinyl which doesn't help the noise issue. 4th, they rent to people with large dogs...big breeds and aggressive ones too. Expect to see dog poop everywhere, management will pick it up when it's reported, but they do nothing to fix the problem. 5th, there is very limited parking bc the office does nothing to monitor vehicles. I have 1 car and still struggled to find any parking near my building. When I spoke with the office about the issue, I was told I could pay for a covered spot, but they wouldn't do anything else. Finally, the office is habitually finding ways to charge more and make it as inconvenient as possible for the renter to pay, especially when moving out. There were fees for anything they could think of and then made it impossible to pay online, which then forced me to waste personal time and pay more fees for a cashier's check. There are too many other, newer, better located places in Conroe that are offering amazing deals. I actually broke my lease here because I couldn't stand the issues listed above. The place I moved to is brand new, I'm the first occupant. I have more living space, zero noise, more parking, bigger pool, more amenities, and I only pay 120.00 more a month! Totally worth the move!
