The boy and I were taking care of his parents' most adorable rambunctious bearded collie puppy named Baxter, while they were away on holiday for most of November. Fortunately, the boy and I differing work schedules so one of us would always be at home with the pup. No one likes to come home to unsavoury messes!
But we ran into an issue where we were both going to be out of the house for more than 6 hours, and we were in desperate need of a dog walker. Naturally, I turned to Yelp... searched for dog walkers around Queens Park: Nothing, nada, zilch, zero. If you search for dog walkers in NYC, you're spoiled for choice. I then turned to other means... Yelp talk thread, FB, and gumtree. Finally, I quickly found Lesley of Always There Pet Care who happily accommodated my request to take care of Baxter while we were both busy at work.
The night before Lesley was to take Baxter out for the first time, she came over to meet him and we went over the details. For £15, Lesley took Baxter out for a good run around Queens Park for a couple of hours, fed him, and wiped him down (it was muddy out). The service is pretty straightforward, and Lesley was absolutely lovely. If you have a rowdy big dog who isn't quite fully trained (he wants to jump up and say "hello" to EVERYONE!), then I have no doubt Lesley can handle it. Lesley offers other services as well, so I would check out her website or speak to her directly for full details. read more
