We were selling our house and our buyers wanted a new roof. I solicited 4 separate estimates from…read moreroofers and Arnold's had the fairest estimate. We needed new shingles on the house, the roof over the front porch, and the roof over the back deck. Jason and his team gave me an estimate of $5500 for the whole job with an extra $500 to cut and install a ridge vent to ventilate the attic. We needed new flashing around the chimney, a crack sealed in the chimney boot, and gutter screens repaired- basically a lot of little stuff that was flagged during the home inspection. I found out about Arnold's on Craigslist and noticed they had no reviews yet on Angie List because they just began operations in 2014 but got on their website and saw pics that clearly indicate they do great work. We decided to take the chance because they gave us the best estimate. I got the feeling right away Jason is as honest as they come. He needed half the total up front to purchase materials and pay his team but did the whole job while communicating with me while my family and I were on vacation in Florida. The contract was thorough and followed to a tee. He even repaired a bathroom exhaust pipe in the attic that vented through the roof when I told him it had been flagged by the home inspector. It took them only 3 days to do the whole job. He was extremely professional, always letting me know how things were going 2x a day via text. His guess about how many boards needed to be replaced was spot on and he nailed down good boards rather than replacing everything to keep our costs down. In the end we only paid $200 for wood and materials above the base estimate. I could not have asked for a better experience after hearing so many horror stories about shoddy roofers. My 5-year old daughter plays in the yard and they were even meticulous about not letting nails roll into the grass and throwing the discarded shingles safely on the tarp. Oddly enough, my next door neighbor had a team contracted by Home Depot do their roof the day before we had ours done. Jason's team noticed all kinds of issues with their roof that they deemed unacceptable and went over on general principle to give my neighbors an itemized list of things they needed to have the Home Depot team do over again (shingles not aligned, a ridge vent installed over solid wood without cutting the vent !?, no flashing on chimney etc..). They did that with no expectation of extra compensation but because they didn't think that it was right and my neighbor was able to stop the payment and get his own contractors to do everything over again. Without Arnold's looking out for his home, he would have been paying for half a job. In the end, we came back from Florida and did a one-on-one walk-through of the work and Jason indicated that if our buyers had any problems with the job that he would come back immediately to address any problems. We can't say enough about this small business- I think we really lucked out landing them for our work.
