Glad that I called him (nicknamed Refrigerator Rick)! Found his sticker in my Sub Zero 5500 built-in fridge and called after seeing a couple reviews. Answered and scheduled me for next day. I wanted to get maintenance done and understand this 30 year old fridge and if I might have a costly replacement to think about given some abnormalities going on. He called ahead when in route, was extremely thorough to educate me about the internals, pointed out previous work he could tell was his handiwork (in great shape) that he performed for previous owners, and overrall satisfied my expectations to clean and maintain the compressors. I have a 21-year-old SubZero in a size that SubZero no longer makes. Picture this: -Three times a warm fresh food compartment in my refrigerator -Three visits from a local Maytag repairman -Zero remedies for our problem since said repairman could never make it out to my house within 1-2 days of calling and my fridge would fix itself after 2-3 days. -Tons of food thrown away and lots of meals ordered in I was beyond frustrated so when our fridge when on the fritz yet again, I got Rick's contact info from a contractor friend of ours. And just over an hour's worth of work, Rick had taken our freezer door off, unscrewed all baskets, defrosted the severely caked on ice from our freezer vents, and finally addressed and remedied the real problem - a bum control board. The owner Rick is an amazing refrigerator repairman. Because he specializes in repairing refrigerators only, he has incredible knowledge about fixing all makes and models of refrigerators! He is a very honest, open and trust worthy individual who explains everything in detail and educates you so that you can avoid problems in future. Our refrigerator stopped working a day before we were going on our vacation. We were really panicked. He came in the early morning the next day and quickly and honestly diagnosed the problem and fixed it at a reasonable cost. Best thing that ever could have happened as Rick showed up ON TIME and ready to slay my beast of a fridge. He took a quick peek around and started giving me an education on my behemoth of a machine. Our experience with Rick was mostly positive. He was on time for both appointments. He really knows his craft. He fixed our refrigerator quickly. The negative was that he was not transparent with his fees. He did not tell me his pricing structure up front. Example: cost per trip, parts and labor. After he diagnosed our problem he gave us pricing options(good), but he did not break it down the cost of parts and labor(bad). Since a non-functioning fridge is time sensitive we had little room to address this issue. When I researched the part he replaced, I found it to be less than 28% of his total cost. He spent 1 hour and 15 minutes in total for both visits to my home(I live within a few miles of his home). This translates into almost $300/hour for Rick's services. I could get into more detail but the point is to ask Rick about pricing up front and get the details(parts and labor) before he starts the work. read more

Rick was extremely rude and a bully to work with. My grandparents hired him to fix their refrigerator, which includes all parts of a fridge- their filter, fridge door and shelving. When he first came to their home to look at the fridge, he charged them $200 to come the next day to fix a part. Then the next day he wasn't able to come due to personal issues, which is fine. So he came the next day. When he came to their home, they pointed out they had several issues aside from that one part - such as the door wasn't closing, the filter wasn't working, etc. He repaired one thing and then refused to repair the other issues. Although he markets himself as a refrigerator fixer, he did not repair all the issues. He bullied them into paying him more money, but did not fix the whole refrigerator. My grandfather says it's not about the money, it is how he treated them. In the end he made them feel stupid for not knowing how to arrange their shelving and then did not help them fix it. read more

Refrigeration Rick is the best! I'm always skeptical of repair men but Rick doesn't just repair, he also educates. I bought my house over a year ago & as you know everything breaks. The custom Electrolux/Icon refrigerator started leaking then just completely stopped working. I called Rick on a referral & he came the same day after normal working hours! Within minutes he diagnosed the issue & had a solution. The whole time he told me EXACTLY what he was doing & why he was doing it. He broke down the charges so I knew exactly what I was paying for. He also fixed & flushed the drain clog which was hilarious because when he shot the CO2 thru it blasted him in the face with the most disgusting brownish thick liquid. We have had a recurring leaking problem with our Amana bottom freezer refrigerator. Rick was recommended to us and we are so grateful. He responded quickly, was available the next day and told me to put the water for defrosting on to heat after I received his advance call that he was within 1/2 hour of arriving. Once here, he was friendly, organized, liked our dog and got to work. He is amazing to watch work, which both my husband and I did. He said these Amana's have a faulty drainage system and that after calling the company he has found it better to swap out the current method and install a better one. This would prevent recurrences. Who does that?? He had many observations about refrigerator companies and that he himself just bought an old fridge for his own home because it was made better than more current models. His charge was affordable and we felt we really got good value, not to mention an hour of entertainment. I noticed that after he had left even the Amana door started working better, closing on its own rather than requiring a shove from me.
