The freezer on my 1992 subzero side by side decided to stop working the week before Christmas. I phoned Rick on a recommendation from a colleague and he responded immediately, came to my house same day, ordered the fan motor, set up a temporary fix, and returned two days later to install. He gave me a quote to start and adjusted appropriately for added work he did at my agreement. I am so impressed and grateful for his knowledge, kindness, and willingness to patiently explain the problem and solution! read more

Rick the owner is very knowledgeable and explained everything that he was doing. I would highly recommend him.

Our refrigerator was on the fritz, luckily the previous homeowners had Refrigerator Rick's phone number on the inside of the fridge door. So glad I gave his number a try. Rick was responsive and knowledgeable. He fixed the issue quickly and gave me plenty of tips on how to maximize the life of the fridge. Rick relies on word of mouth marketing, I will highly recommend him to my family, friends, and coworkers. read more

I got Refrigerator Rick's contact information from a Facebook group. My fridge was getting warmer and you could tell that the fridge was not running. Called Rick, he picked up and he gave an estimate of coming over in 2 hrs. Which he did. He diagnosed the problem and promised to come the next day with the necessary part. Which he did. He is reliable. Great story teller, got a lot of stories to tell about his family. He's fast, reliable and fair priced. Would love to use him again. Hopefully, not too soon Sidenote, he got 2 calls while on the job. They both were word of mouth recommendations. This happened in the span of 10 minutes. You know someone's good when this happens. read more

We are thrilled to have our refrigerator running again and not having to replace it!! My husband and I highly recommend Always On Time Refrigeration (847) 338-2858 for excellent service and absolutely fair prices. Rick (nickname "Refrigerator Rick") is the most knowledgeable appliance repairman we have ever had the pleasure of hiring. He is an EXPERT at repairing SUB ZERO refrigerators as well as other brands. He keeps our 25 year old SUB ZERO running like new (No need to spend $12K on a new SUB ZERO). He is fast, reliable and willing to work around his customer's schedules. I strongly suggest the you put his name and number in your contact list as your "go to" refrigerator guy. I can promise you that you won't regret it. read more

I spoke to Rick several times today- he answered right away and was super helpful! While he couldn't service my particular freezer, he gave me very helpful advice on recommended next steps. Would recommend just based on his willingness to help me (and given that he took the time to speak to me patiently about my issue), even though he knew I wouldn't be able to use his business. 10/10 would recommend based on this interaction! read more

Very happy to have come across Always on Time as we had a failing 30 year old Subzero unit. Rick came out and accessed the issue and was able to quickly diagnose, clean and service the freezer and refrigerator. Rick has a passion for servicing refrigerators and if you have need of maintenance he is absolutely your technician. He will walk you through everything he is doing and will offer suggestions to maintain your unit so that you get the best life expectancy and optimal performance. Pricing is absolutely fair for the excellent service. And Rick is very flexible and willing to work around the customer's availability, a rare quality in service technicians these days. Highly recommended! read more

Glad that I called him (nicknamed Refrigerator Rick)! Found his sticker in my Sub Zero 5500 built-in fridge and called after seeing a couple reviews. Answered and scheduled me for next day. I wanted to get maintenance done and understand this 30 year old fridge and if I might have a costly replacement to think about given some abnormalities going on. He called ahead when in route, was extremely thorough to educate me about the internals, pointed out previous work he could tell was his handiwork (in great shape) that he performed for previous owners, and overrall satisfied my expectations to clean and maintain the compressors. He seems to have specialized familiarly with Sub Zero products. Happy to know my fridge is now in great shape with his help and what maintenance I can perform. This is a well deserved 5. Like another review, he is chatty but to the best intentions. Very genuine guy read more

I had a Whirlpool fridge that malfunctioned just past its 1 year warranty period. Rick (aka Refridgerator Rick) was very prompt and extremely knowledgeable. He was very thorough in his analysis and ensuring it was fixed. He showed me the defect (a faulty seal ). Rick even followed up with me a week later to ensure the fridge was still working. His pricing is fair and straight forward and his does not rush thru things. He takes pride in his work and enjoys inter acting with his client base. I am definitely keeping Rick in my contact list, as he will be the 1st person to call down the road when something needs to get fixed. read more

Picture this: -Three times a warm fresh food compartment in my refrigerator -Three visits from a local Maytag repairman -Zero remedies for our problem since said repairman could never make it out to my house within 1-2 days of calling and my fridge would fix itself after 2-3 days. -Tons of food thrown away and lots of meals ordered in I was beyond frustrated so when our fridge when on the fritz yet again, I got Rick's contact info from a contractor friend of ours. And just over an hour's worth of work, Rick had taken our freezer door off, unscrewed all baskets, defrosted the severely caked on ice from our freezer vents, and finally addressed and remedied the real problem - a bum control board. Rick is super, super chatty so be ready for that when he rolls into your house to fix your ailing appliance. He walked me through the problem and showed me, up close, exactly what he was fixing and why. He most definitely knows his refrigerators and smartly carries the proper tools and parts (like a control board) to fix things on the spot if possible. His prices are fair considering all the work and expertise he puts in. Our fridge is now super chill and so am I. Thanks, Rick. read more

I have a 21-year-old SubZero in a size that SubZero no longer makes. When it stopped working last summer I was faced with the choice of trying to get it repaired or buying a new one in a new size which would have required remodeling cabinets and countertops. I desperately wanted the refrigerator to be able to be fixed and thanks to Rick, it is running again. I now have a rebuilt SubZero that should last until I feel like remodeling instead of being forced into a remodel by SubZero's size changes. read more

The owner Rick is an amazing refrigerator repairman. Because he specializes in repairing refrigerators only, he has incredible knowledge about fixing all makes and models of refrigerators! He is a very honest, open and trust worthy individual who explains everything in detail and educates you so that you can avoid problems in future. Our refrigerator stopped working a day before we were going on our vacation. We were really panicked. He came in the early morning the next day and quickly and honestly diagnosed the problem and fixed it at a reasonable cost. Because we had a flight to catch in the early afternoon that day, he did not stay too long and said that he would come back at no additional charge after we were back from our vacation to thoroughly check it out once again to make sure that the problem was properly fixed and also to clean the coil properly to make the refrigerator run more efficiently. He came back as promised and did not charge us anything. We were greatly impressed with Rick's attitude, helping nature and exceptional knowledge. We will very highly recommend Rick to anyone who needs refrigerator fixed properly at a reasonable price! read more

My KitchenAid refrigerator went out - so I called another repair company who referred my call to Rick. Best thing that ever could have happened as Rick showed up ON TIME and ready to slay my beast of a fridge. He took a quick peek around and started giving me an education on my behemoth of a machine. At first it he thought it might be the motherboard but after further inspection, he ran his magic fingers over some of the exterior buttons for ice, water, etc and lo and behold, POWER of the frigid kind started blowing. TAKE MY MONEY, RICK! Apparently it was a case of trouble shooting that both my husband and I suck at. Any other repairman could have suckered me into a new motherboard at $550 but Rick is HONEST and really knows his craft. I was sorry I didn't have another broken fridge for him to fix! Just a great guy doing honest service at a great price with a wealth of knowledge and experience. read more

Had a very positive experience. He was incredibly honest and trustworthy. Our refrigerator was still under warranty and instead of fixing and charging us he informed us to contact whirlpool to fix and he did not charge us for the visit. He even treated my children to glow sticks as a little gift. He will be getting my business in the future! read more

I found Rick through Yelp and he is a gem. He communicates well, works quickly and has very reasonable fees. He recently walked me through a mini emergency via text, when I discovered my basement ceiling tile was carrying so much water from the fridge above it looked like a balloon! In addition to his expertise, Rick is a very nice man. Rick is A+++ in our book! read more

Rick provided excellent service was honest, open and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend him.

Our experience with Rick was mostly positive. He was on time for both appointments. He really knows his craft. He fixed our refrigerator quickly. The negative was that he was not transparent with his fees. He did not tell me his pricing structure up front. Example: cost per trip, parts and labor. After he diagnosed our problem he gave us pricing options(good), but he did not break it down the cost of parts and labor(bad). Since a non-functioning fridge is time sensitive we had little room to address this issue. When I researched the part he replaced, I found it to be less than 28% of his total cost. He spent 1 hour and 15 minutes in total for both visits to my home(I live within a few miles of his home). This translates into almost $300/hour for Rick's services. I could get into more detail but the point is to ask Rick about pricing up front and get the details(parts and labor) before he starts the work. read more

Rick was extremely rude and a bully to work with. My grandparents hired him to fix their refrigerator, which includes all parts of a fridge- their filter, fridge door and shelving. When he first came to their home to look at the fridge, he charged them $200 to come the next day to fix a part. Then the next day he wasn't able to come due to personal issues, which is fine. So he came the next day. When he came to their home, they pointed out they had several issues aside from that one part - such as the door wasn't closing, the filter wasn't working, etc. He repaired one thing and then refused to repair the other issues. Although he markets himself as a refrigerator fixer, he did not repair all the issues. He bullied them into paying him more money, but did not fix the whole refrigerator. My grandfather says it's not about the money, it is how he treated them. In the end he made them feel stupid for not knowing how to arrange their shelving and then did not help them fix it. read more

Refrigeration Rick is the best! I'm always skeptical of repair men but Rick doesn't just repair, he also educates. I bought my house over a year ago & as you know everything breaks. The custom Electrolux/Icon refrigerator started leaking then just completely stopped working. I called Rick on a referral & he came the same day after normal working hours! Within minutes he diagnosed the issue & had a solution. The whole time he told me EXACTLY what he was doing & why he was doing it. He broke down the charges so I knew exactly what I was paying for. It's peace of mind that way I didn't think I was being taken advantage of. The next day he came over, repaired the issue & went above & beyond repairing. He also fixed & flushed the drain clog which was hilarious because when he shot the CO2 thru it blasted him in the face with the most disgusting brownish thick liquid. (Not my fault, previous owners obviously lol). He was a VERY good sport after cleaning himself off. I recommend Rick 100% read more

Rick only works on refrigerators so he knows them inside and out. He called us back right away and communicated with us every step of the way. Came on the weekend when no one else would and charged an extremely fair price for his expert services. Couldn't be happier and will keep him on file for any future needs. read more

We have had a recurring leaking problem with our Amana bottom freezer refrigerator. Rick was recommended to us and we are so grateful. He responded quickly, was available the next day and told me to put the water for defrosting on to heat after I received his advance call that he was within 1/2 hour of arriving. Once here, he was friendly, organized, liked our dog and got to work. He is amazing to watch work, which both my husband and I did. He said these Amana's have a faulty drainage system and that after calling the company he has found it better to swap out the current method and install a better one. This would prevent recurrences. Who does that?? He had many observations about refrigerator companies and that he himself just bought an old fridge for his own home because it was made better than more current models. His charge was affordable and we felt we really got good value, not to mention an hour of entertainment. I noticed that after he had left even the Amana door started working better, closing on its own rather than requiring a shove from me. I would highly recommend "Refrigerator Rick" to everyone. read more
