Instead, we booked another DJ from the same company, whose name was Vince. We had never met Vince before, which I think was our first mistake. We chose Prolific DJ because they have an awesome music selection that far surpasses the selection of the other DJs we looked at. This was important to us because our music taste clashes with most typical wedding music. We were excited by the idea that we could choose all of the music that would be playing at our wedding, so we could make sure it suited our style and personalities. We spent a pretty long time making up the list that we assumed Vince would be playing at the wedding. The website itself could be better, but overall is pretty convenient. On the day of the wedding, Vince showed up on time and set up the equipment the way we planned. Through the cocktail hour and most of dinner, he did great, playing exactly what we had requested. Then, I'm not sure what happened, but all of a sudden he switched to his "Top 40s Music for all Weddings" playlist and left it for the rest of the night. His personality wasn't right for being a DJ - he was too quiet to hear and he wasn't enthusiastic at all. The best man and bridesmaids ended up doing a better job getting people on the dance floor than he did. I think we would have been better off using my iPod and saving some money. Although David didn't DJ our wedding, I feel confident that he would have done a better job, so I'm hesitant to target this review at the whole company. But the DJ we did have was not great. Also, for people who are less picky about music, Vince would probably be a fine choice for a decent price.

She and I both met him at Newpark Mall in Newark and each signed contracts with him on that day. He asks for 50% when you sign the contract and 50% when the job is done. I was coordinating my friends wedding and so I was able work with Paul through out her reception. He kept the reception going and played all the music the couple requested. The only thing I was a little concerned about was that he was late arriving to the venue. He had a previous engagement that he was coming from and apparently got a flat tire on the way to her wedding. Accidents happen, he delivered at her wedding so we over looked his lateness. For my wedding, I felt like he made the party happen and kept reception moving. At no point was anyone bored or was there no music playing. I thought he did exceptionally well. But... Two weeks later my girlfriends and I get together and I find out that Paul was actually very late getting to my reception as well. He about sent my coordinator over the edge because he barely got set up before all my guests arrive. Besides his lateness I really have to say that he did a great job. I would recommend that you get reassurance from him that he will be at the job site on time and ready to start when your guests arrive. If it wasn't for this tardiness, I would have gave him 5 stars.

Paul's been DJing in the bay area, and specifically weddings for so long that he's definitely a pro. He gave us so many ideas and helpful tips, as far as a time line, music choices and fun games to get people moving. And his personality was awesome. He was enthusiastic and so easy to get along with. He really made the whole experience so much easier. On the day of our wedding he was the first one on site ready to set up and get started. He provided our ceremony music, which required extra speakers outside, and provided microphones for our officiate. He totally understood what we wanted as far as timing and transitions from the ceremony, to the cocktail reception to the dinner reception and his timing was on point. We were cramped on time, so he was great at announcing when we were doing the entrances, cake cutting, first dance, garter toss, etc. We had given him specific music we wanted to play and he made sure it was all provided. We also did the money dance, and he did a great job of keeping it going, instead of just cutting it off at a certain point, which was awesome for us, since we benefited greatly. For the reception we didn't really know what kind of music we wanted to play, so we let him know the age group of the majority of guests, and just told him, "Play music that will make people dance." And he did. Everyone was on their feet and every song choice was great. The dance floor was packed, and afterwards we got so many compliments on our DJ Paul was fantastic, and would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a DJ. He's also not outrageously priced like so many DJs out there, and he's the only DJ on staff, so he gives you personal attention. We had looked at a few other DJ services, that were pretty large oganizations, with DJs doing multiple events in the same day, and you just really didn't get the same personal feel you got from Paul.

When I was selecting a DJ for my wedding, I was having visions of the music being ruined by some 17 year old punk in an ill-fitted rental suit. Then I found Steve. He is a great guy - very warm, personable and reassuring. After we spoke, he came and met me and my fiance in person to talk about his services. Steve was very flexible about making it customized to our wants, yet he was experienced enough to be able to suggest a fall back structure for the things we didn't know about or were indifferent about. When the wedding day came he was fantastic in that he arrived way in advance (as he said he would), was totally calm and professional, and played great music throughout the night. He was flexible enough to transition from playing music that our family's could dance to into music that my friends could dance to. What I liked best of all is that I felt totally confident in leaving the timing of things up to him during the reception and if we ever wanted to change the timing, he could do it on the spot. Thanks Steve! Would highly recommend him. (He also does videography for weddings, but I haven't seen his work.)

Hire someone else!…read more I hired Steve to be my wedding DJ. Not only did I not like him but he is now banned from the Founder's Grove wedding reception hall. When I business bans a DJ, you know there is something wrong. I was afraid I wasn't going to get my deposit back because of him. Pros: 1.He did have a good music selection. The only complaint I have is that he played a couple songs twice. 2. He did show up- although he got lost and was late Cons: 1. He moved my bridal party table at the reception. Yep you read that right, go ahead and read again. I would say this guy's problems was based around one flaw- his needed to be the center of attention. Basically the set up of the event was that dinner was inside then the dancing would be outside. The vendor didn't allow music to be outside so he would have to stay inside but the dancing was literally 10 feet away through some opened glass doors. Anyways he couldn't accept that he wouldn't be in the center of attention so he tried to make room for a dance floor inside. So right in the middle of all the toasting and eating I look over and he's trying to move my bridal party table! 2. Then when we reminded him that dancing was to be outside, he started to move all his sound equipment outside which was against the rules. Maybe there was confusion so the representative from the church went to talk with him. He refused to listen to her. Then me and my husband went to talk with him (so if you can imagine now the bride and groom are up from dinner trying to handle their DJ). He refused to listen to us! Yep go ahead and read that again as well. He refused to listen to the people giving him a pay check. Finally my caterer went and handled him. 3. Then for the rest of the night he continued to break noise regulations and demand to be the center of attention. I was constantly being addressed by the reception hall representative who he was refusing to listen to. 4. About 10 sec after the last song when people are still all hugging and in the moment he walks up to us and demands a check. We gave him his check but my guests and I were surprised by his attitude and lack of tact. I guess he was upset about not being in the center of attention all night. Too many other DJ's to settle on this one. Sure MR and his website are correct in saying his is reliable and dependable. He'll show up to the event but once he gets there who knows how he will behave.
