    My mother was a client with VA for a year. After the first 5 mos, the caregivers started changing…read more Over the course of a year, we had over 15 caregivers. With so much transition, we put in cameras. This was communicated with VA and a sticker was placed in the front door. The caregivers knew there were cameras. About 3 mos ago, my mom was very distraught. She said the caregiver had slept with her head down on the counter and had not been nice to my mom. We checked the video and sure enough, the caregiver had slept for over 90 minutes of her 4 hour shift. The shift was 4-8pm. My mom has dementia and is at a high risk for falling. The caregivers job is to have eyes on her and protect her from falling. Hard to do that when you are sleeping. We complained. VA sent the same girl back. The behavior repeated itself. If she wasn't sleeping, she was on her phone. We complained again. Three of the last caregivers we had either slept or were on their phone, or just blatantly ignoring my mom. There is a huge lack of training within this organization. I'd strongly advise Visiting Angels to spend more money on training and quality employees and less on marketing.

    I used this service for my father for several weeks. The lady they sent was kind, honest and…read moredependable. She was however untrained. After he had become bedridden, she called me eight hours into her shift to find out how to change his diaper. I called the on-call person to get support. This person informed me that she was unable to go to clients homes due to family obligations that required her presence. I found this unacceptable and quickly found a nursing student to replace them. If you are reading this you are probably as clueless as I was when my quest began. Nursing students are a good source for sitter, as are nursing homes, since a lot of their staff moonlight. Questions I did not know to ask: Training for sitters? Support for sitters by agency? Background checks for staff?

    I've waited over six months to post this review. My mother began her service with this company just…read moreafter a surgery in July 2020. The first week of her service she had two providers that were rude, aggressive and or mentally ill. Of all the ten providers she had over the course of the first few weeks only two were professional. Since that time she has been constantly harassed over invoices. As her daughter, I've even received harassing calls regarding her outstanding invoices. My response to them..."how much has my mother paid your company versus the 3 weeks of invoices she owes?!" Over the course of 7 months, your best treatment of your patients is to treat them poorly and not apologize for poor service by your workers that slept, stole items and yelled (YES! Yelled at her for not going to sleep! And that invoice was not credited back either!) at my mother on your clock! Instead, you call her and threaten her and raise your voice to her. She was called today by a man attempting to be sympathetic but instead threatened her and spoke harshly to her. This company has many complaints coming from me through the BBB, google, Yelp and anywhere else I can post one. Consumer beware!!! This company is NOT professional and does not deserve your business! Please continue your search and be happy you looked elsewhere!

Additional response: Dad's caregiver was great. I'm also aware that he no longer works for you. Having to beg for information constantly, then never getting return calls, nor emails that were promised is just not worth it. I had to go to your office to pay you (after 2 months of waiting) because the portal user name/password was incorrect. (Your employee did help me find the portal, but then it wouldn't have worked for me anyway, because it didn't work for her until she corrected it) I've never tried so hard to give somebody money in my life. By the way, I said I didn't need an email receipt, but you insisted. I'm still waiting for that email. Nothing has changed.
