They just don't care. They are running this hotel into the ground, in it to make the money and nothing else. There are no other hotels in Grafton so one is forced to stay here. I've had to stay here twice a year for 10 years now. In the beginning it was good until new management took over. The bar and food closed down. They use to make great homemade pizzas that were worth looking forward too. The hot tub has never been open and the pool is hit or miss. The rooms are dirty, appears they barely ran a vacuum over the floors. They should shampoo the carpets. Holes in the ceiling down the halls, daylight showing between the wall mounted heater/AC. Fingerprints on the furniture in the room tell you they did not wipe anything down. When you first walk in there is usually someone sitting at the front desk on their phone and others just standing around. Sidewalks are not shoveled. Basically there are a lot of things that could be done to improve this hotel, but there is absolutely no effort to do so. When you see the rates go up you're optimistic that maybe they have made some updates to improve the property, but it appears it is only to pad their pocket book.

It's not a big restaurant ... there were ladies from the Red Hat Society having lunch. I ordered the Lagimodière burger, fries and gravy. I replaced the processed cheese with mozzarella cheese. It was a big burger with two patties. The patties, though tasty, were fried a bit too much (the meat was a bit dry and the outside done too much) but it was made with real burger which was a nice change. We stayed in Grand Forks and the 1 hour commute was somewhat tolerable in the morning going to work, but after an 8-10 hour work day the commute back was brutal. On the next trip up I decided to see where else I could stay. Google maps showed the Red Roost Motel in the small town of Pembina. I called the number and spoke to Lyndi. She was so nice. She told me they were the owner operators and live on the property out front of the Motel rooms. She told me they had recently completed many updates to the Motel. I decided to stay there because I didn't want to have to deal with the 1 hr commute to Grand Forks. She told me more about the little community of Pembina. There is a real nice recently renovated bar and grill called the Bridgestone that are separated by a connecting wall and the Grill area has a covered outdoor seating area that looks out into a wooded park. There is a small grocery store caddy corner from the Red Roost that has pretty much anything you would want. Across the street there is Trails End a small but well stocked hardware store. They also rent and can deliver a scissor lift if needed. I stayed a few days at the Red Roost and I enjoyed it very much. The room was fresh and the bathroom was recently retiled and nicely appointed. The towels and linens fresh and comfortable. They have a mini fridge and microwave and an Internet TV you can watch your own shows on if you like. I also recently made another trip up to Pembina for an update the our border crossing equipment. I stayed at the Red Roost again and Lyndi was excited to show me they now had a mini apartment on the property. It has a well appointed kitchen and a good sized Full bed and two Twin beds. The beds are new and comfortable. I love this little community of Pembina. Everyone I have met her is soo nice. I'll be staying here anytime I'm working in the area. Give them a try, you will be happy you did.
