They did a great job. Prompt and responsive. I had to arrange this project all remotely and they handled everything perfectly.

The whole experience with Alternative Surfaces was extremely positive. I did my homework, made comparisons with quality and pricing and this company offered the best for the price. There were lots of choices in garage flooring colors. The outcome was outstanding. I love the garage floor. It's almost too beautiful to put a car on and is so easy to clean. I highly recommend this company to anyone considering installing a floor coating on a garage. read more

I contacted Alternative Surfaces about my garage floor just before moving into my new home. Erin and team answered my questions and met my real estate agent for an onsite estimate for several spaces where we are looking to have the epoxy floor done. Alternative Surfaces quote was clearly laid out, broken out by space with optional add ons (stem walls) itemized, so I could make a decision clearly on how to proceed. Decided to do the floors in my primary garage. "Wombat" Color. $6k project cost. I scheduled this several weeks in advance and paid the deposit. Due to logistics, I was not able to get the space empty in time, but AS worked with me to reschedule. The team came out and installed the floor in one day. This included repairing cracks in my concrete, filling, leveling, and doing the stem walls. I was amazed at the general result! My garage was transformed. They left my driveway a little flakey but it cleaned up easy enough. Just wanted to share this in case you are meticulous like I am. Once the coating was dry a couple days later, I did a close inspection. Some loose media/flakes were left and the top of the stem walls were light on coating. I contacted AS and they came out and corrected this. (Thanks!) Since November, I have been enjoying the floor. I work on my car so I spend a lot of time in the garage. The new floor has motivated me to work on other aspects of the garage. Last week, I noticed a ding in the floor. Contacted AS. They worked with me to repair and resolve. I've been happy with their work and their clear, prompt communication. The communication went a long way in helping me trust spending with them on my first big project in my home. AS has worked to address any concerns about quality of the product or install, which I appreciate. Thanks again. read more

Working with Alternative Surfaces has been a positive experience all the way around for us. Erin was so responsive and informative with all of our questions. She's great to work with. Aaron and his crew were on time and did a wonderful job applying the floor coating. Aaron was very careful and followed up with me throughout the entire job. We are very pleased. This company cares and it shows. I highly recommend them. read more

Erin did a great job getting everything scheduled and quickly answering all my questions! She offered advice and options for us to choose from for all the various concrete finishes, making the design decision easier since our job was in a living room space. Dave kept us informed and quickly figured out a way to accommodate the timeline we were hoping to meet. The floor looks amazing already with the simple grind and seal they did (and its not even cured yet!) We are very happy with the end result and the overall experience of working with Alternative Surfaces - highly recommend! We will definitely be contacting them for any future concrete job quote needs! read more

I tried contacting this company a handful of times. I got no response, no acknowledgment.

We were looking for a reasonably priced, eco friendly flooring for our basement with a mid century look. After ruling out Marmoleum (expense) I was trying to decide between an LVT tile or the epoxy flake floor. I had seen it done before in a basement and thought it was really nice. When I found out I could customize the colors and add glitter for a small additional cost I was in. The Alternative Surface solution has proven to be perfect. Erin was very thorough in explaining the process, the workers were fast and did a really nice job. They guys even came back the next day to do one more pass with the buffer without being asked because the surface was a little rough from some of the glitter flakes that were sticking up. The only drawback was that I did not request they seal up the opening to my studio which did end up getting covered in concrete dust. I'd advise anyone having this process done in doors to do so. Also - don't be in the house during the process - very loud and the epoxy smell is intense. The photos don't do it justice - much prettier in person. read more

Dave, Pablo and their crew were punctual, worked very hard and consistent with all the details provided in the planning phase of our project, which included our living, dining & sunroom. Of course, like any remodel situation, adjustments are required throughout the project and Dave worked with us every step of the way. If you want concrete floors in or outside of your home, it would be a mistake to look anywhere else. These guys are the real deal and will take care of you 100% all the way to completion. Alternative Surfaces did a great job on our garage floor resurfacing project and I would not hesitate in the least to highly recommend them. I got more than one bid to do this job and Evan was very professional, very likable, and very competitive. The entire experience was very low drama and done to my extreme satisfaction. The work crew -- Pablo and Lars -- arrived on time and were courteous, efficient and very skilled. The finished product exceeded my expectation! read more

We recently had our entire lower level cement floors refinished by Alternative Surfaces and they did a fantastic job! There was ugly carpeting and linoleum that had left a lot of nail damage and glue etc.. but they patched all the damage, buffed out the glue and stains and the floor now looks like brand new modern construction! The price was fair and the quality of work was top notch. Highly recommended! read more

Dave was professional from start to finish with us, and we couldn't be happier with the outcome. We had a pebble coating put on our patio slab outside. It looks beautiful! Alternative Surfaces completed two jobs at our home and exceeded our expectations. They resurfaced our garage floor and back patio. They on time and did an excellent job in both cases. They were very professional, stuck to the original quoted price and even cleaned up the job sites after the jobs were completed. We have had several sub contractors in our home that could not even compare to the professional and quality job that Alternative Surfaces produced. We highly recommend this company. read more

Our new recycled stone floors in our home, it's a whole new experience. We now take our shoes off when walking through the door for a completely different reason than before - because it's like getting a foot massage all day long just walking around on it. Alternative Surfaces was professional and exceptionally detailed. We've recommended them to several friends. Nice to see you on Yelp! read more

Alternative Surfaces of Portland just completed the prep and coating of our garage floor, and we couldn't be happier!! The experience was professional right from the start when Dave the owner came out to confer with us and provide a very competitive bid. He explained the process, the pros and cons of various treatments and then set us up on a schedule. His workers (Pablo, Erin and Poncho) showed up exactly on time, were professional, were polite and maintained a clean worksite. Dave spent considerable time on site as well. I worked in the construction world for 40 years and have a real appreciation for the great job and professionalism shown by Alternative Surfaces. read more

Evan and all the guys that work with Alternative Surfaces are so great! They completed the flooring in three of our bathrooms including the shower pan in the master. Dave and Pablo and crew are top notch! They ground/colored/sealed concrete floors and they look gorgeous. Dave was always incredibly quick to respond via email to any questions we had before, during, or after the process. Pablo also knowledgeably answered all on-the-job questions. They also graciously worked with us after a delivery person walked on the wet floor as it was drying, and we had to have that section of the floor redone. read more

Exceptionally good service. In a large home remodel project Dave has ended up being the best contractor we have used so far. He came on time to give the estimate, provided the most detailed quote with details of contract, checked in a couple of days ahead of the install, showed up the day before the install to make sure there would be no surprises, and the work performed is of exceptional quality. One minor SNAFU with expectations for finish gloss was handled professionally and with a focus on the solution, not the problem. All in he and his team set the bar for professionalism and quality of work. Also, his rates, while not the cheapest, are definitely competitive, and the work is of incredible quality. Modest premium in price, definite premium in quality! read more
