We feel Stratton Electric took advantage of us. We called for them to come out for the annual…read moretune-up of our generator. The first repair person said he didn't have a manual but hoped he had set everything correctly. It was working before he touched it, then it wasn't working. Stratton sent out 2 more repair people, and it was decided the control panel was burned out. We know it was not burned out when the first person came out because it was working perfectly. Stratton then charged us $435 for another trip charge to diagnose the problem, then another $1232 to replace the control panel. Phil told us that he would come up with a fair solution. He "magnanimously" reduced the trip charge by $285. We had no choice but to have them replace the part, since my husband is a disabled veteran on oxygen. We ended up paying $500 for the tune-up and $1373 for the repair. The most ridiculous and insulting part was Dawn Stratton acting indignant that we think they did something to our generator. Picture taking your perfectly running car into the shop for a tune-up. When you come back it's not running, but they deny all responsibility and want to charge you $1373 to diagnose and repair what they did to it. I bet the Strattons wouldn't accept that. We will not be using them in the future.

Chad was very responsive and knowledgeable. He consulted with me and advised on the different options due to the current breaker being obsolete. The technician, Mitch, was out the same day to assess what would need to be done. They scheduled the work the same day in cooperation with the electric company to have the power shut down and replace the breaker. The work was completed a day later, early and very quickly.
