I will never ever come back here. Aside from it being so expensive the "guy" owner I think or not Idk he was so rude and very defensive. I guess it didn't help I'm gay which shouldn't even be an issue when you're an owner you have to learn how to deal with all types of people specially when you're gay yourself. Somehow I can never perfectly fit into clothes upon purchase. It is either waist is too big or sleeves are too long. I was in search for a good reliable alteration place that does not charge a fortune as I was looking for a place I planned to visit frequently, not just once. Places in CBD were somewhat over-priced so I narrowed my search to across the river area. I found Alteration center on Yelp and decided to take a piece of garment as a test run. Long story short, this place indeed became my Go To place for any alteration. Blazer, skirt, dress, pants... you name it and I have gotten some sort of work done from here. I wanted to re-review, because since my last review I have been here many more times and ownership has changed. The most complicated thing I had to get altered was a vintage dress. I was nervous about doing anything to it, because it's made from a satin material and I'm not sure how easy or difficult that is to alter. I brought it in and I needed a few things done: I needed it pulled in a few inches, I needed it brought up a few inches and I needed the sleeves brought up a bit. I went in and tried the dress on and told the man working what I needed done. He pinned it and marked it and told me it would be ready in a week. Well, he did a fantastic job! The dress fits perfectly and you would never guess that it needed any work. As I mentioned, since my last review the shop has changed owners. The owner is now a man who does all of the alterations himself. Even though ownership has changed, the prices haven't and you can still get a really good deal on all of your altering needs. I have been to this man quite a few times and he always does a fantastic job. read more

The Alteration Center is a unique place. It is located in a strip mall right off of Belle Chasse Hwy, but isn't very easy to find. As you walk in several ladies are sitting behind some very old looking sewing machines. I have come here numerous times to have work clothes altered and have sent many people here for work as well. That being said, my luck has been hit or miss. On my last trip I needed some pants hemmed. I told them the length to make them, but they insisted I try them on and have them measure. That was fine, but the changing area was tiny and the curtain didn't close all the way. That didn't really bother me, but if I were a lady, I wouldn't want some cheesy dude leering at me if I were in there. Granted there aren't too many dudes in this place, but it does bear mentioning. Anyway, I get measured and hand over my three pairs of pants. A few days later they were ready. The pants were all wrong. The hem was far too long so I went back. Then when I picked them up two were the same length (too short) and the other was still too long. My suggestion is to ensure you try on everything before leaving. This was the only time I had issues, and this is one of the only alteration shops I know of on the WB. If you need something altered, give these ladies a try. read more

Great affordable alterations. I bought a new tuxedo online and they altered it perfectly. All in $50 for the alterations (both jacket body and arm Length, pants waist, seat, and length). Whew! This was a trek from the CBD but I think it was worth it. Even though I speak Vietnamese, it was a pleasant surprise that the owner and tailor was proficient in English. I had a gown and a skirt that both needed to be shortened and he charged me less than anywhere else I've been in the city. It took a week but I didn't need it rushed nor did I specify a date. I've been here three times, all to get pants hemmed. It costs about $8 to get pants hemmed, and it takes about a week. John L. H. mentioned in his review that the dressing room has a curtain that doesn't close all the way. On my most recent visit, the small dressing room had an actual door that could be locked from the inside. The staff are quick, polite, and professional, and I'm pleased with their work. I had gotten a bridesmaid dress from DB and was so disappointed when it came in - they had recommended the wrong size and it was entirely too big. I looked like a frumpy sad mess, and the neckline plunged far below what I consider appropriate for a wedding. I brought my dress to Mr. Kevin and picked it up today, and literally gasped when I put it on at home. He did an absolutely marvelous job! He raised the shoulders, closed the neckline a bit, brought in the sides and hemmed the bottom, and every part is absolutely perfect. It fits like a dream, and all that work took him less than a month and cost under $130 with tax. Kevin is fantastic. I needed a dress hemmed for a wedding on an unreasonably quick turnaround. I landed in NOLA on a Friday morning and had to wear the dress mid-day Saturday. I called ahead, and they said they might be able to do it if I got it there early enough, so I went straight there from the airport. Kevin Le did a great job on my daughters Winter Formal dress. It was too big in some areas and kind of ill fitting and now she loves it. Only negative is theirs no listed prices and he just randomly figures something up in his head on the spot so it can be costly. A bit overpriced but I would consider going back again. read more
