You'd be surprised how crowded this place can get in such a small town! Great staff and atmosphere, flowing beer and very solid German favorite dinner selections that are delicious. The ladies are always attentive, good natured and...very pleasant to chat with! Have some coffee, a few beers or hang for an extended relaxed meal with friends as long as you want. The Gasthof has rooms to rent with all modern facilities, including a large adjustable flat screen TV, there is free wifi as well It is exceptionally clean and well run. A typical bavarian breakfast comes with the room making this a great bargain. The restaurant is worth taking a side trip for. Chef Robert's creations are delicious and the portion size is very generous. There are traditional Bavarian creations such as Sauerbraten with dumplings as well as my favorite, Pearl Chicken in a Calvados sauce with thin noodles.

The waiter in charge was shouting commands to the other two waiters. Like a little general. Quite annoying. Part of the staff was foreign thus didn't speak the German dialect (I speak good German), which I takes away some of the charm of a Bavarian restaurant, I think. Clean air, nice paths for hiking, you can go for canoeing, bouldering etc. Schlehenmuehle is somehow hidden in the side valleys near Eggloffstein and not easy to find..... but.....
