My MIL is almost completely blind and so she has her eyes closed most of the time, BUT she is not always sleeping! The carers at Highgate recognize this and keep her out in the living areas throughout the day. They have comfortable recliners where she can rest with her feet up. They attend to foods she prefers and are keeping track of her weight to ensure she is getting proper calories. The food has been great! Isabel who manages "The Cottage" where the higher need residents live is an absolute Gem! Brigette, who organizes activities for the residents is thoughtful and has such positive energy. They both know each and every resident and truly attend to their differing abilities and needs. The staff are very well trained and have headsets so they can constantly communicate with one another. The entire staff - from the administration to the maintenance nd everyone in between - is a cooperative team that is consistently positive and interested in doing their jobs well. Working in memory care and with a variety of differing social, emotional and physical needs is very challenging work. Highgate's staff rise to the challenge. Since moving to Highgate's Cottage six weeks ago my mother-in-law's overall engagement and well being has improved steadily. We are so very thankful to have found Highgate for her!

Sharon was not only extremely professional in convincing me that Granite Gate was the right choice for my 93 year old mom, but she was also very warm and compassionate which was evident by the number of current residence who approached Sharon and exchanged hugs. Viewing this exchange of affection it immediately put my concerns to rest as far as the compassion my mom would receive. I was totally impressed with Sharon with her attention to detail, her patience in talking with my mom, and her answering every question we both had of her. My mother has problems with UTI's and both times their nurse was supposed to take samples and get to the labs has been a fiasco. They don't return calls, they don't answer emails, and if you ask a question they treat you like dirt. I would not recommend this place on my worst enemy. Didn't use to be this way, but they can't keep good help for some reason.

She has a nice 2 bedroom, 1 bath apartment. I really enjoy going to see her, knowing she is safe and contented there. She's made a number of friends there since she moved in. Meals, housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance are all covered in the monthly fee. There are medical professionals helping with the health issues of the residents. I'm writing this today to acknowledge the great efforts of the staff as they protect the residents against the corona virus. Mom told me today in a phone call that they are all staying in their apartments, with meals being brought to them, instead of at the dining room. Will Burke is normally the sales manager. The place was basically ok, but they had people in there who should have been in a nursing home. I…read moremean dementia patients. Absolutely NO privacy unless you could get a private room. Our food came from a nursing facility across the street and was very often cold. The head caregiver there was not very friendly. There were rules there, but not really enforced. People were smoking, smoking marijuana and drinking, all of which were suppose to be forbidden. They scolded me when I finally left as if they had done everything they could for me and I didn't appreciate them. Things really need to change there. The food quality was not good. The cleaning staff was very nice as were the people that did laundry.

I left this facility after 30 days. They billed me for 90. In that time I was scolded for urinating…read morein a cup among other things. But the meds I needed to keep me from constantly having to pee (desmopressin) had not been given to me for over a week. Nor had my pain meds (hydrocortisone). Everyone knocked before entering my room except for the guy mentioned previously. He just walked on in. Most of the residents who spoke to me had nothing but complaints about facility. I was told when I Checked in On Monday I would be moved to first floor by Friday. 30 days later I moved back home off of 2nd floor with no help from anyone at the facility. The admissions person told me on the day I moved in an attorney would be contacted to get financial help. When I left, no attorney had been spoken to. None of the nurse call buttons in either room solicited a response. A few days after I left, I. Was called and scolded for leaving previous review. Im not angry. Im generally a positive, kind and optimistic person. This is the only critical review I've left. But this facility earned it. Good luck Boulder Gardens.
