We came to Alta Strada at Foxwoods with a large party (16 of us). I am giving them 2 stars because it was very easy to make a reservation a few days before the day and the service was pretty good. The reason why I am deducting the rest of the stars is because one of the members in our group got food poisoning. She was the only person in our group to get a burger and around 4am she woke up violently ill. No one else in the party got sick. We called the restaurant the next morning and informed them about the food poisoning and they said they would talk to the cook. The did offer to have our whole group come down for brunch on them however none of us wanted to return to Alta Strada. I doubt any of us will ever return. read more

Living in Norwich we decided to go out for a nice dinner and picked Alta Strada. The setting was nice and cozy. We were seated right away. It wasn't loud and it was easy to hear our conversation. The bread and oil that was served started off the disappointment. The oil had a lemon flavor that didn't really go with the bread. I would have rather had olive oil with herbs. For drinks, my date ordered the black thai mojito. Although its expected to pay a lot for a cocktail at the casino, it was $14 and there wasn't much other than a lot of ice and a small amount of liquid. I had the chardonnay which wasn't the best chardonnay I've ever had. For entrees my date had the spaghetti with tiny clams. He said it was good but they did not provide a separate plate for the shells. There wasn't any sauce on his pasta which made it very sticky and difficult to eat. I ordered the pappardelle with spicy pork and herb ricotta. The pork was a shredded pork which had good flavor. The ricotta was very plain and didn't have any flavor. Over all I was very disappointed especially when the check was $75 for very mediocre food. read more

Went here last week for a getaway night with my husband. We ordered the veal meatballs for an appetizers and they were delicious and there was more than enough food there for the two of the us. We really wanted to taste the homemade pasta, so I ordered the spaghetti aglio e olio con pomodoro and it was amazing! It was such a simple dish but so much flavor. My husband order the bolognese and it was also amazing. The best part of our dinner though was our waiter. He was super friendly, knowledgeable and answered all our silly questions about italian food without making us feel dumb. I have been in the restaurant business for many years and wish I had caught his name because it is rare I really love a waiter/waitress. Will go back again some day! read more

We went just to have pastas last weekend during our stay at the MGM , which is now called the fox tower. We didn't mind paying for the over priced food we had just won some money from playing at the casino. I had the spaghetti with tiny clams and my sweetheart had the papardelle with a meat sauce. We also shared a ceaser salad. and ordered a few glasses of pinot grigio. For the simple food that it is it was executed perfectly and tasted right on point. I loved the crusty peasant bread they serve with a basil olive oil.... good stuff. The service was great. The waiter was very attentive and I loved that the server was pouring water in my glass every time it was half gone. Never had to ask for a refill. We did have dessert. We had their Panna Cotta with pinapples and pistachios. It was awesome and its a nice portion size to really indulge on. The best one I have ever had by far. read more

We went to a show at Foxwoods and thought we would try a restaurant when we got there. We are not super picky and the restaurant seemed like a good bet. I am sad to say that the polite busser was the best part of our evening. The drinks were not bad but way over priced. $14 for relatively small pours. The did pour it at the table. Our server tried hard - nodding vigorously at everything - whether there was something to nod at or not. My wife opted for a pasta dish that was way over seasoned and she was unable to finish it. I tried the "killer burger" The last time I saw my server?- he checked in on "how everything was" despite the fact that I was still waiting for mustard to even try my burger. It came plain with no veggies of any kind. I figured that meant the burger would speak for itself. I ordered the burger medium and it came out like a hockey puck - completely inedible. I had one bite -ate no more. The server never came back. My busser cleared it and dropped the bill. I spent $62 for 1/2 a pasta dish, some french fries, one bite of burger and two small drinks. Went to the foxwoods restaurant with 3 others last night before a show. I ordered the sangria which tasted like koolaid way to sweet i don't think it was even wine. I had the chicken under brick came with mashed and very salty gravy with some spinach tucked underneath. The chicken was good but it was way to pricey for that quality food. My wife's shrimp dish was tasteless and shrimp was over cooked I would save my money and go to mc D on the way home. This restaurant is a pig with lipstick on it. read more

We ate here on a Sunday night. It was very quiet which could be expected so for some reason we opted to sit at the bar. Big mistake ! We got ceaser salad which was fine. They had goose island IPA one of my favs. But then it happened. Some lady with the most putrid voice sat down with some old guy right next to us. For the next 30 minutes I had to listen to her squealing trying to convince this poor guy to marry him. I think I vom'd in my mouth. I got rigatoni which was really good. We also got fried meatballs. Came in on a Saturday evening with my boyfriend. Wasn't crowded at all. Hostess sat us at a little tiny table on display rather than a cozy booth that was in more of a private area. Menu was annoying for me because I don't know what half of the dishes are and the descriptions were not helpful. Service was satisfactory. We saw our waitress maybe one or twice. The prices seemed pretty steep for what they were. I got the crisp meatballs which were good but for $13.00 (its an appetizer)... overall I don't think I'd go back personally. There are better restaurants in the casino that are just as expensive but worth it. read more

I finally found an over-the-top Italian restaurant that I can rave about! After a big win on the slots last night, and weighing our options in the food court and seeing crusty pizza and General Tsao's chicken that had been sitting out half the day, we decided that we'd splurge and head to Alta Strada (we'd already splurged a couple of years prior at Craftsteak after winning at MGM:). I can't say I was a fan of the traditional Italian bread (just not my thing), but my Albanian husband raved about it. The olive oil was really nice, though that accompanied it. We did notice that the waiter (who was so friendly and explained the menu perfectly to us) did wait and see if we were ordering an appetizer and then brought the bread over - but that could be because it would have been the same bread if you order the homemade buffalo mozzarella crostinis. So on to entrees - I got the spaghetti ($19) and it was homemade, with simple spices and ingredients and so delicious. Best spaghetti I've ever had, I would say, and I didn't even miss the meatballs or beef. It's rare that just a starch and nothing else as your main course satisfies, but this one did for some reason. My husband was going to order the fettuccinni, but the waiter first explained that it's a traditional Roma style and doesn't have the predictable cream sauce that you'd see in most other restaurants, so it's a lot lighter with a bit of oil and lemon. It was great that he explained that in advance, because my husband decided instead to go for the special that evening, which was a Chilean sea bass and while the portion was tiny for $35 (comprised only of about 4 oz of seared bass, finished with a tablespoon of potato puree and a few small mushrooms and tomatoes), my husband said it was worth every penny. He even shared a bite with me and I can vouch it was perfectly cooked and one of the best pieces of fish I've ever had. Again, simple ingredients but perfectly fused together! Thank goodness we didn't pass on dessert . We ordered the marscaporeos, which was a huge bowl of marscapone cream and 8 shortbread homemade "oreo" cookies to dunk in the cream. Ironically, that dessert was bigger than my husband's main entree, but oh well, who were we to complain? In addition, we got the affogato, which translates as "to drown," and it was vanilla bean gelato, doused with warm chocolate and finished with just-pulled espresso shots over the top of that. They brought us two straws to drink it like an espresso shake, and that paired perfectly to curb off the richness and sweetness of the marscaporeos. The extra caffeine boost also helped us stay awake for the 1.5 hour drive back to Boston with our winnings (minus the $85 for dinner:). The only thing I would change is to make some of the portions a little bigger (at least add some veggies or more of a starch to the main entree to bulk it up, as the pizzas and pastas are all sufficient portion size), but even so, I can't bear to take a star away because the meal was so delicious. read more

The dish is amazing! Thus year they changed it up and put fingerling potatoes, which were tasty but I love the mashed potatoes and was slightly disappointed with the dish...BUT, the manager walked by and wanted to know how everything was and I mentioned the potatoes- within a minute or two he served piping hot potatoes which were delicious!! It was our 30 year anniversary and when he heard that he sent over complimentary champagne and a dessert to share. We were deeply touched someone would go above and beyond for us. He made us feel special and cared about...Chad is what every restaurant needs! The food was delicious but Chad made our visit memorable. read more

I recently went with my husband to eat here on our anniversary and we had the best experience. We ordered the prosciutto and ricotta app for starters and shared the giant chicken parm for our entrée to share. We each ordered the pearfection martini to start per our wonderful server, Melissa's suggestion and I enjoyed everything. Melissa also guided us through the wine list. We visited the brunch buffet last weekend. We had reservations, but it wasn't crowded if you wanted to just walk in. There isn't a ton of variety food-wise, compared to some buffets, but the quality of the food is great and it was only about $23! Eggs, french toast with vanilla syrup, eggplant parm, chicken parm, bagels, fruit, vegetables, whipped potatoes, breakfast meats, and amazing desserts. Food is upscale quality, especially for the price. Staff was very friendly and attentive. The panna cotta and brownies were mouth-wateringly, mind-blowingly delicious. We enjoyed it so much that we returned the next morning. Highly recommended! Why get a fast food breakfast nearby for probably around the same price when all is said and done when you can dine here? Coffee and regular beverages were even included. Loved it! read more

I came here twice, back to back, on my visit to Foxwoods Casino. The food was amazing! The first time,I ordered the Maltagiliati which is the spicy pork ragu with herbed ricotta, absolutely delicious. The pork ragu had so much flavor and the pasta was fresh and you can tell it was homemade. The second time, I ordered the Mushroom Ravioli. If you like mushrooms, this is the entree to order! The service could have been a little better as I didn't get a refill on my water once, but overall the experience was pleasant. read more

My first experience was so much better....last night was a disaster! I'll start with something positive- the hostess and waiter were very friendly and attentive. The food was terrible, ordered the special hamburgers that came almost raw to the table with a side of cold french fries. The hamburger was highly recommended by the waiter and marketed as one of their special meals. The atmosphere was loud, club type music in the background and crowds of young people with bad table manners. Overall, a really bad experience. read more

One of my favorite restaurants when coming to foxwoods. Just was here on Valentines day after a R&B concert and love the ambiance and upscale setting without the enormous prices. Ordered a pasta plate that i can't remember the name of it but was very satisfying. Only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because our waiter was AWOL, but then again it was Vday. Defiantly recommend this for a date as the light are romantically dimmed and mood is set. read more

Michael Schlow is the star chef of one of my favorite Boston restaurants, Via Matta, and he's recreated his modern Italian menu here. Start with the bowls of antipasti (Broccoli Rabe with Chili, Eggplant Caponata, Homemade Ricotta, Calamari with Chick Peas and Olives), then munch your way through a perfectly crisp and juicy Chicken Piccata cooked under a brick, or any of the pasta dishes. Mediocre tasting food at high prices. I'm sorry to say, but our valentines dinner last night was disappointing. The only thing worth buying on the menu is the Chicken Parmesan ; and even that was average. The service was just okay. The restaurant on this all important night, was less than half full; a good testament to the review. Our waiter didn't visit our table for a good 8 minutes after we we sat down; and took another 10 minutes just to bring our drinks and then take our order. Went last Thursday before John Legend. I've toyed all week should I review. I have to. Came at 615 before concert. Sat at bar table area. They were busy. One bartender doing bar and restaurant. One blond girl you can tell filling in behind bar. I sat. Sat. Sat. Sat. Waited quite awhile to get service while I'm watching these two women bust butt. Clearly not adequately having enough help. She added me while making a drink across bar yelling to my table what I wanted. Ordered martini. Husband ordered wine. Waited. Waited. Received. Martini. Gross. Gross. I can tell she is not a bartender and waiter said a manager filling in. Fast forward. We finally ordered. I brought martinin to her and said can't drink this. Can I have xxxx. Very pleasant said yes. A while goes by. Waiter comes to service bar with a full martini on tray. Takes a sip. She comes. He says she didn't want pear martini wanted etc. she abruptly says what do u want he says blah blah. She takes the glass HE. SIPPED out of tosses drink swirls in faucet makes New drink pours into same Glass and gives to waiter. I absolutely feel so bad for that person who is receiving that drink in that glass waiter took a sept she never wash that she should have clearly that that person a new glass made a new drink. I am disgusted with that behavior and I will never return to that restaurant again read more

This place is horrible. We went for dinner before attending the Ron white show. My wife is allergic to chicken so she ordered a pasta dish that does not come with chicken and we advised the server she was allergic he advised me there would be no chicken near her dish. Well the pasta dish comes out my wife starts eating and there is diced chicken in her meal our night was ruined we missed the show because she was sick. I requested the kitchen check and our server clearly put chicken allegory and there chief thought it meant add chicken. Also the steak they have is worth about $10 it's the same meat from a dinner. The manager offered my wife a free dessert after we told her what happened obviously someone about to get sick doesn't want more food. I'm not sure how this place is in business and I would highly recommend McDonald's before trying this place read more

What can I say, a little piece of heaven. The chicken with a brick was crispy on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside. The mushroom truffle pizza was to die for. What I loved most was the attention and care I received from the staff. Our server Kassi was polite and professional. Her attitude was not what do I need to do but what more can I do for you. Sal the manager came over with a very warm smile, and greeting. Handsome and debonair it was obvious the service starts from the top. I highly recommend this taste of Italy read more

This restaurant was a primary destination point for us, not the casino. We never experienced problems until this night. It was incredibly disappointing. Arriving promptly at 6pm, and the restaurant had very few customers. My party ordered our meals shortly after being seated. We waited over an hour for our main courses. We filled the time eating the scrumptious bread which was the only positive experience we had. The pasta with olive oil, garlic, and tomatoes was loaded with hot red pepper. This was not acceptable, so it was taken away and the charge reversed. The fish in the zuppa di pesce was misrepresented by the server. No scallops and the lobster in it ($6 extra) was no more than 2 one half inch pieces. When I removed the bread from the dish, it was obvious how little fish was in it. Again, the chicken parmesan was over loaded with hot pepper. one in our party asked for sugar for the lemonade, and instead received another glass of lemonade, which was. thought to be a free refill. The server admitted the error but still charged $5. Our overall impression was that the overall experience was negative, and we've forever lost the wonderful Alta Strada we had grown to love. read more

Where do I begin? Went last night...they ran out of menus, drinks were watered down, appetizers and meals came out so fast, we were out in an hour!! Felt so rushed! Charged us for drinks we ordered but did not get. After bill came they tried to serve us the drinks....hhuuuugghh no! Service was terrible!! My husband thought the food was good..I thought it was ok. I asked him if he would go again and he answered No! The pricing was not bad but no specials were offered and very limited menu. Didn't ask us if we wanted desert.
