I was very excited to try out Alriso after hearing about it, a totally gluten-free Italian restaurant, in the Old Town of Prague. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating, although if you'd prefer a specific type of seating you may want to reserve a table. The vast majority of the seating inside is down a sketchy set of stairs in the basement, but there are three tables or so besides the bar. I sat upstairs and the chairs were so uncomfortable and felt like cheap garden chairs which they had just brought in from outside. I decided to dine here on my second night in Prague, I originally had a table booked for the following evening, but after strolling through Prague, I asked if I would be able to come on that evening instead, and was able to give an hours notice or so to get a table. The menu was exciting and included a large number of dishes including pasta, risotto and lasagna. The food was a little pricey for Prague in general, I was also annoyed the staff added a small surcharge on my bill for takeout boxes. This meant the bill ended in a weird figure, making it harder to pay in cash. The staff seemed friendly enough, but service was slow overall to order drinks, food and then receive what we ordered. I decided to order the gluten-free carbonara, the portion size looked small, but it had a rather rich heavy taste. I would say it was just OK, and after looking and smelling at the lasagna ordered at my neighbouring table... I felt like I'd made the wrong choice when ordering my food. Other members of my party also mentioned they were disappointed in the portion size, my guest who ordered the saffron risotto mentioned how rich it was, I felt the same with my risotto, and just felt it was missing something a little extra to bring the dish together and balance out the flavours. A great location not far from Old Town. We made a reservation online. The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful. The only thing we did not care for was the bread. Very grainy and not very tasty. Everything else was amazing!! We had bruschetta, pasta Al forno, gnocchi with pumpkin purée, risotto with shrimp and squid ink. The portion was fair but I wish I had more! My husband wanted to add chicken to the gnocchi but our waitress said it wasn't possible! I have to say - this was definitely an experience to remember! For once, I didn't have to check if they had food that was safe for me! And our entire group could just pick from the regular menu! We ordered a number of dishes, including the lasagne, a spaghetti aglio olio and a penne with mushroom and speck. They were all pretty amazing, but the lasagne was the best by far. The gluten free bread was flavourful and savoury as well - I really wished they would just sell loaves of it! This place is a hidden gem! We loved it so much we ate here 3 times during our visit to Prague. The gluten free bread and pasta were beyond amazing. We couldn't even tell it was gluten free. Yum! Cozy but well lit, attentive but not overly friendly service. Good "house wine" from Tuscany. Tasty free bread and olive oil. Garlic cream soup with pancetta- was too salty (yes, I know, it's pancetta what do you expect. However the soup seemed salted throughout every layer. I think this just reflects the Czech palate as I often find soups and sauces here a bit too salty for my taste) Risotto was phenom! So good... I highly recommend the one with sausage, eggplant, and tomatoes. Flavors and textures were just perfect. Mmm Had the semifreddo for dessert- so good! I did not expect to find 10/10 Italian food in Prague, but thanks to the rest of you yelpers, I found it at Alriso! I actually came here TWICE while I was in prague because I loved it so much. The restaurant is adorable, and try to sit outside if you can. The tables are definitely small, but unless you're really huge there should be enough space, and they even provide blankets on the chairs in case you get chilly. I really enjoyed the salad with olives, red rice, and baked goat cheese wrapped in pancetta. One of the best salads I've ever had, and in a pretty generous portion as well. The first time I went, I had the risotto with salmon, spinach, and pinot grigio, which was excellent with super tender and flavorful salmon. The second time I went, I had the asparagus risotto, which was on their special asparagus menu. Who has a special asparagus menu??? Alriso does, because I guess they take asparagus season quite seriously here. Each time I went, I got so full off the mains that I couldn't even do dessert, so unfortunately I have no comment on that. Service is cheerful if a tad slow at times. Truly fantastic Italian food. Never mind that it's all gluten free too! We started with bread and olive oil, and the bread was delicious and fresh and slightly moist, anyone would love it even if they don't need gluten free. The lasagne was honestly the best I've ever had. I was so surprised and so happy. The shredded beef was flavorful, the sauce was light and not too saucey like many lasagnes, and the pasta was just perfect indulgent melt in your mouth divine. And I can't forget the cheese which was also amazing. WONDERFUL lasagne. The penne dish was very good, but didn't blow me away like the lasagne. Do NOT order the lasagna. If you're used to ACTUAL lasagna, this is not it. It's beautiful to look at but inedible. I took 1 bite and couldn't eat the rest... left a horrible Taste in my mouth. Let's just say it was shredded beef (not ground) layered in pasta with cheese but not in a good way. It Sounds delicious when I describe it that way out loud but the tomato sauce tasted like stew and not Italian food. It was a cross of Latin stew and Czech goulash! Super weird. This is a completely gluten free restaurant and for people with gluten intolerance it's a great place for having the best Italian dinner. Starting from their own homemade bread and then going through multiple options of main courses and then having dessert. I kind of regret my choice of having gnocchi pasta, I could probably have found something better on the menu. The tiramisu was really good, I prefer it over the chocolate dessert. But I'm really happy with everything I got to try and the staff was also really friendly and helpful. I never saw the inside of the restaurant but the outside seating area was nice and calm.
