    Carbonara

I was very excited to try out Alriso after hearing about it, a totally gluten-free Italian restaurant, in the Old Town of Prague. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating, although if you'd prefer a specific type of seating you may want to reserve a table. The vast majority of the seating inside is down a sketchy set of stairs in the basement, but there are three tables or so besides the bar. I sat upstairs and the chairs were so uncomfortable and felt like cheap garden chairs which they had just brought in from outside. I decided to dine here on my second night in Prague, I originally had a table booked for the following evening, but after strolling through Prague, I asked if I would be able to come on that evening instead, and was able to give an hours notice or so to get a table. The menu was exciting and included a large number of dishes including pasta, risotto and lasagna. The food was a little pricey for Prague in general, I was also annoyed the staff added a small surcharge on my bill for takeout boxes. This meant the bill ended in a weird figure, making it harder to pay in cash. The staff seemed friendly enough, but service was slow overall to order drinks, food and then receive what we ordered. I decided to order the gluten-free carbonara, the portion size looked small, but it had a rather rich heavy taste. I would say it was just OK, and after looking and smelling at the lasagna ordered at my neighbouring table... I felt like I'd made the wrong choice when ordering my food. Other members of my party also mentioned they were disappointed in the portion size, my guest who ordered the saffron risotto mentioned how rich it was, I felt the same with my risotto, and just felt it was missing something a little extra to bring the dish together and balance out the flavours. The location is cool and the concept is great, especially for coeliacs, I probably wouldn't return though. 3*

A great location not far from Old Town. We made a reservation online. The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful. The only thing we did not care for was the bread. Very grainy and not very tasty. Everything else was amazing!! We had bruschetta, pasta Al forno, gnocchi with pumpkin purée, risotto with shrimp and squid ink. We sat inside the adorable restaurant on the main floor. There is outside seating and some downstairs as well although we didn't see that area. A wonderful meal!

This place is heaven on Earth if you are gluten free!! I am truly stunned by how amazing it was. Started off with the amazing gf bread and ended with the Tiramisu. Would definitely recommend coming here whether you are gf or not!

We really enjoyed Alriso! We ordered the risotto with fennel and butter fish, gnocchi with pesto and pine nuts, and tiramisu. The risotto and fish were cooked perfectly. The portion was fair but I wish I had more! My husband wanted to add chicken to the gnocchi but our waitress said it wasn't possible! The tiramisu was good but the espresso flavor wasn't strong enough and they don't use ladyfingers.

Authentic Italian. We love both the mussels in white wine and the lasagna with chunks of meat. Quite location, still very convenient, few blocks from old town square. House wine complements well the dishes.

I have to say - this was definitely an experience to remember! For once, I didn't have to check if they had food that was safe for me! And our entire group could just pick from the regular menu! We ordered a number of dishes, including the lasagne, a spaghetti aglio olio and a penne with mushroom and speck. They were all pretty amazing, but the lasagne was the best by far. The gluten free bread was flavourful and savoury as well - I really wished they would just sell loaves of it! For dessert we had the tiramisu - a little light on the liquor, but extremely tasty otherwise. I would definitely recommend it. All in all, great service, great food, amazing experience.

This place is a hidden gem! We loved it so much we ate here 3 times during our visit to Prague. The gluten free bread and pasta were beyond amazing. We couldn't even tell it was gluten free. I wish we lived closer because we would eat here all the time. The prices were very reasonable. Most of their seating is outdoors but it's covered in case it rained. We loved siting outdoors at this beautiful location and amazing meal! We very highly recommend this place. My husband is gluten free and celiac, and he had no problems eating here.

Delicious and excellent service. We will return many times. The lasagna was the best I've ever had, including in Italy.

This was a gluten free dream come true. I haven't had lasagna and tiramisu in years and it was excellent. Love this place.

The food was ok, nothing was bad but nothing really stood out. The bartender was really nice and probably the best part of the experience.

So we came again to satisfy his cravings. We ordered the Margherita pizza to share as our appetizer and only finished half but it was soooo good. Simple and delicious with fresh basil leaves garnish. Something unusual happened on this evening . There was a power outage for a while but I need to say... the staff handled it very smoothly , assuring diners that things will be ok soon. They were calm. We were more than confident , staying put and enjoying ourselves. Dishes came out quickly . There were LED lights on the table already and so we didn't skip a beat. The sauce seemed to have been made from a can (1 star off) as the diced tomatoes tasted different than the whole tomatoes that were added to the dish later; the whole tomatoes tasted way better. My husband got the pinsa alla diavola, which was like a spicy pepperoni pizza. It was fine, but reminded me of a pizza at a kids' birthday party (1 star off), maybe only slightly better. I made a reservation a month in advance, but did not know I had to specifically request for tables outside on the river. When we arrived, only a few outdoor tables were taken, but was told the rest were reserved, so we were seated indoors instead. When we finished our dinner, the same few outdoor tables were occupied. I don't know why the restaurant couldn't just stagger the guests for the outdoor tables according to their reservation times.

It was my second visit to Prague so I was taking my time to see more than the "must see things." As I said, I stumbled onto the restaurant because I was taking in the park where artists were painting, people were reading and I pulled out my phone to use the Merlin app to identify birds that were singing. It was totally picturesque. But I wasn't hungry. So I regretfully moved on without eating there. Imagine the elation a few days later when someone in our group booked a dinner reservation for us at the same place I was regretting having missed! With a group of a dozen of us, I think someone ordered everything on the menu. We were all thrilled. We had appetizers , cocktails and entrees -- everything we had was great! The restaurant is family-owned and we were treated to the son being a primary server for our group. Now and then dad was part of the picture too and we enjoyed the added dynamic. Pretty sure the son is on point for Americans as his English was on point. They were great hosts!
