a variety of nuts in a store
    Vicki M.

Dare I say the best nuts in town! I'm serious you guys... the owners of this fine establishment are Syrian refugees and they brought their talent for roasting nuts & seeds and now sell them fresh in bulk for you to not only buy but to try. The moment you walk in you are welcomed with a warm smile and before you know it, beautiful arrays of nuts are dropped into your hands for you to sample and fall in love with. And the owners quick to also pour you a taste of coffee made from freshly roasted beans as well. Sadly I don't drink java so had to decline but next time I bring my husband he'll try some for sure! I came for the nuts and left with a very generous mixed bag full of my favourites - cashews, lemon almonds, peanuts, and pistachios. And for just $12!! So amazing! Come check out this hidden gem when you're in Castledowns. It's in the same complex as Happy Mart for those who know

Oh goodness, it is a whole store by Duchess filled with the most amazing, well like the name says: Provisions! There are cookie, cake and pie making equipment. A How-To kit for duplicating their famous macaroons. All the gadgets one would need to bake a masterpiece are in this delicious little side venture. They even have a wall stocked with jams, honeys, caramels, chocolates, nuts, salts, sugars and other high end, super must have ingredients to wow your taste buds (and show off to your dinner guests!) I bought a delightful crystallized honey as well as a jar of salted caramel that is so amazing it could be drizzled on a dust bunny and make it taste divine! I also added to my insane cookie-cutter collection, which I hide from my other half so he doesn't think I'm Kitchen Cuckoo! Oh, wait... I think he's on to me ;) This is definitely a must visit store if you are a culinary wizard, or just like to wing-it! It is a go-to destination to pick up that perfect hostess gift or for your super foodie friend. And even a $4 jar of something, in its beautiful package, will make anyone feel like a Duke or a Duchess!

As I entered this store, at their new location, the first thing that caught my eye were their displays. They are like little pieces of art telling stories about the items they carry. They have a kids section inspiring fun ideas on how to engage kids in the kitchen. There is a wide selection of flours, sugars and other baking gems (some organic and some not). They carry cookware, bakeware, bread making products, books, teas, chocolates, extracts and compounds, preserves, canning supplies, mixers, cake stands, serveware, kitchen linens, aprons and so much more. With Christmas approaching this is an excellent place to find gifts. And if you're hungry, Café Linnea is definitely worth a try next door.

Brunch is offered on Saturday and Sunday, otherwise they open for lunch (closed Mondays). Epic Market is huge. This will be a very popular place for the Whyte Avenue crowd as there are so many options available depending on which floor you enter. We were on the second floor today for brunch but the first floor, which has a similar look and feel, has a Mexican menu. It opens for lunch at 11:30am. It's a unique concept for Edmonton. The server said that they've opened similar restaurants in larger cities like Toronto but Edmonton is their first venture into a "smaller market". The brunch menu was interesting with some unique features and some typical offerings. I had the Pork Bennie, for $18.00 in 2024. The prices are quite reasonable for the type and quantity of the food. My bennie was good. My only criticism is that a special house ketchup would have been a nice touch. The service was excellent and we had a nice view of Gateway Blvd out the window. The coffee includes endless refills which is good because the cups were not very large. I'm sure the vibe is much different for dinner than brunch, but based on our experience, I'll definitely return.

It was perfect : friendly bartender, food options for anyone who wanted to eat and very welcoming staff. The only suggestion I have would be to add a coffee station with espresso drinks.
