I now have the most AWESOME tall oak built-in bookshelves, of such quality that a razor blade cannot be inserted into any of the joints, nor can the joins be felt with a finger. My wife and I were in the market for kitchen remodel and found this local business in November of…read more2020. We met with a lady named Peggie from GWC. She was great and designed our kitchen with what we were looking for and gave us an estimate. Our contractor we used for the kitchen remodel had a different person he suggested we get a quote from who had comparable work with a cheaper quote. Unfortunately, he was unable to complete the work due to a health related issue and we returned to GWC in September 2021. We were told Peggie no longer works there and we would be dealing with Chad. There was no mention at this time GWC was under new ownership. Only when I came to put down half of the quote was I informed the ownership had changed. Chad, albeit a friendly and genuinely nice individual, has no ability to measure nor design custom cabinets. We had a relatively similar cut and paste design for the majority of our kitchen but were left with huge discrepancies in measuring which led to multiple remakes and design layout issues. The company claims to have one day installation, even after three days work is still, to date (6 months) incomplete. We were left for a significant amount of time without a usable kitchen because countertops were unable to be installed. After being made aware of the significant measurement mistakes we were reassured we were 'their most important customer.' We were incredibly patient with them and even offered advice on where we would settle on details to expedite completion. These ideas were never relayed to the next set of sub contractors who came to complete the work. They left sub floor exposed (see pictures) and cabinets unfinished. They used incorrect sized brad nails to attach trim which left holes on the inside of our cabinets. The custom silverware insert didn't fit, the handles we ordered were incorrect, doors cut too short on our Lazy Susans. We contacted them multiple times and eventually our patience wore thin. They offered to remake all cabinets at one point to make things right. We agreed to this but stated they were responsible for the appliance removal, plumbing, electrical, backsplash and countertops which had been installed. GWC (Kate, owner) now reneged on this offer and gave us two options of they take all the cabinets out and offered a refund or they would take $4k off the ~$17k quote. She claimed we could never be satisfied despite sending them a reasonable list of demands and a counter offer. The industry standard is final payment is paid upon completion of work. This led to no response and later a notice of a mechanics lien placed on our house. She was demanding the full remainder of the quote not even the $4k prior offered discount for their mistakes. From the sounds of it GWC was a reputable cabinet company prior to Kate and Chad taking over from reading prior reviews and our experience with Peggie. There are other options in the area just steer clear of this one. Pictures included are to date of this post. This is what they felt was satisfactory work. We could have done this level of work with pre-maid cabinets from Lowes or HD ourselves at a fraction of the cost and a lot less headache.
