I have been going to the "Portuguese Church" since I was a little girl. It started off in the…read morebasement of Mt. Carmel in Yonkers and later the community moved to South Broadway and created their own church. Today at 355 South Broadway you find a newly built beautiful church with a strong Portuguese American community. This is a Roman Catholic Church and although mass is said in Portuguese you will find many different people here who are followers of Mary. After Sunday Mass traditional Portuguese food is available for purchase. The food is cooked by the mothers of the community and funds are used to support the new church and kitchen. If you are missing your "Portuguese Mom's" cooking you will find it here. Best days to visit are the days associated with Mary (May is the month of Mary). Candle processions are found through the streets of yonkers in May.

There's WiFi, but it doesn't work that well.
