This is my favorite church in all of Bergen county. The marble columns, stained glass windows and…read moremultiple sculptures create a strong sense of religious history. The tabernacle is adorned in brass and sits to the right of the altar. The devotion candles are now electric but there was a time when they used actual candles here. That's my only gripe about this church. It would definitely create more of a nostalgic feel if real candles were used. The vestibule of the church is large enough to accommodate over 100 people. The vestibule is where people who arrive late to mass--congregate. The wooden pews remain but they are beginning to wear down. The pews are as old as the church itself. This is one of the largest churches in all of Bergen county. Its also a popular venue for wedding ceremonies. Parking is not an issue. Peace be with you...

I grew up in Teaneck and my family attended this church from 1965 to 1995, when we moved out of state. As we…read morestudy and proclaim the scriptures, we also look for ways to practice our faith and to seek the justice God proclaims today. We are multicultural and LGBTQ affirming. We love good music and on any given Sunday you may hear classical music, global hymns, gospel or jazz. Children play an active role in the church and we seek to welcome them through children's bulletins and bibles, a children's sermon, and sometimes having the kids lead music or read scripture lessons. Worship is at 10:30. We serve Communion once a month and offer anointing for healing and wholeness by the Deacons once each season. Baptism is available to all ages, with the expectation that you remain part of the community to grow in faith. Sunday School for children and adults is at 9:30 am. We have 3 age- appropriate classes for pre-k through middle schoolers, and an adult bible study as well. We have occasional youth group activities such as the confirmation lock-in and preparing a meal to serve at the Family Promise shelter. The church offers 8 weekly English Conversation Classes for the community, taught by volunteers. We support the Oelhaff House shelter for survivors of domestic violence, Center for Food Action, and CoFiA and First Friends, which are both groups that work for immigration justice. Jazz Jam meets the 2nd Friday each month, at 8 pm, where musicians of all ages and skills come to share their music and build community. You are welcome to check us out!

Everyone was very kind, friendly and welcoming. The pastor led the service in prayer. The youth were engaged in playing guitars and singing religious songs. They also had guest speakers from a religious ministry program that does outreach to francophone West African immigrants in NYC. Thereafter, the pastor invited us to join the congregation in a potluck dinner. They hold such dinners once a month where worshippers get to share a meal and get to know each other over a meal. We were amazed to find that some people have been members of the congregation for 20 years! Also congregation members are of various ethnic groups - Caucasian, African American, African, Latino and Asian as well as mixed. They invited us to return to their church for regular service as well as additional prayers. Thank you, Pastor Rick and Ms. Claudette! Oh. I forgot to mention that the church is in a delightful little White House shared by other churches with service in Spanish, Chinese and Korean.

My husband and I have been searching for a church in the NYC/Westchester area for one year now, and we were about to give up looking when my husband decided to check for something in NJ and found Church at Bergen! We watched a prior week's sermon and were both so blessed by Pastor Mike's down-to-earth yet passionate exposition of the Scripture! We attended in person today and had the same experience, along with beautiful singing in the worship service, a meaningful communion time, and a segment committed to Bible memory. We are so thankful to have found this church and will Lord willing be making this our home church throughout the remainder of our time in NY.
