I needed to have new holes punched into my belt. I was unable to do it myself. I went there and he was great. He punched the holes right away and it took about a minute. When he punched the holes, I went to pay him and he said "no charge for punching holes". While I was there a lady came in to pickup her shoes. I don't know what he did but only charged her $8.00. I thought that was a very good price. I told him we would be back when we needed any shoe work done. Looking around his shop, it looks like he does a lot of boots. He was very personable. Brought in a pair of boots to have a zipper put in. He looked at them and told me that he could do it, have it ready in 2 weeks and gave me a claim ticket. Returned in 2 weeks and a day. After about 30 minutes they found my boots and he said he needed another week. I agreed even though I had driven an hour to get there. He suggested that I call before I come next time. A week later I called to check on the boots. Went to voice mail and left the information that was requested and they promised to call me back before the next day. Next day called again with the same results. Called for 5 days and no response. This is now two weeks later so I go into the store and again they took an hour to find the boots. No progress had been made and he said he had to order a zipper. I took my boots and left! read more

Alpine Shoe and Boot Repair is owned and run by a lovely gentleman who is a true craftsman. His work is impeccable and very reasonably priced. I don't need shoe repair often, but have used his services for many years for shoes, boots, and purses. The shop is easily accessed, located on the east side of the strip center at Broadway and Pantano, facing Pantano, with plenty of convenient parking. Foot problems and surgeries necessitated my wearing a surgical boot for the past year. I just graduated to a brace that fits under a normal shoe, but the extra width of the brace meant my shoes needed to be wider t accommodate the brace. We took the left shoe to Alpine yesterday on the way home from picking up the brace, and my modified shoe was ready this morning. Such a kind man, and he made and sewed the extensions so beautifully that the shoe looks it came that way. read more

After searching for a cobbler, the guys at Tecovas told us that this is the place. I came to Alpine to have two pairs of boots reheeled and one resoled. The cobbler was friendly, honest and direct! Cobblers have always been artisans and they're getting harder and harder to find with our disposable society. I took a belt in for extra holes. Hammering a nail through a belt is awful. They have equipment that makes an actual hole. They did an amazing job on my favorite belt, everything is still completely uniform. If you have a favorite leather anything but it needs some TLC, you'll be surprised at how much life a cobbler can breathe back into it. They're nice guys. They do great work at reasonable prices. I took a pair of shoes that I had gotten in Amsterdam a few years back I loved the shoes but they were showing their age and I couldn't bring my self to throw them away. since I finally broke them in, maybe a bit to much since the heels on them had wear patterns and the rubber was missing, so I took them in after saying I was going to for about 3 months, they have blue rubber on the soles an he had found the same blue replaced the wood heel and cleaned them. I was hoping the nice man who owns the shop would be able to clean my leather purse and heels, but he said he couldn't do anything about my purse (which is ok...I didn't expect much). He did say he could fix up my heels, though. When I picked them up today they looked WORSE than when I dropped them off! He said he couldn't do anything about the scuff; he tried to color the leather under the little tear. Well, he actually made the scuff even worse :( I wish I hadn't dropped of my precious heels there, and wasted my gas driving across Tucson to get to his shop. Also, he's on Broadway, east of Kolb. Being new to Tucson I asked around and read the reviews. Alpine was the consensus. I just picked up my full quill ostrich boots and a pair of Italian loafers which I was told could not be repaired. These were not cheap and I wanted them done right. Simply put, they look like new! The price was fair and the people in the shop were great, even love to banter a bit which made the experience even better. I had a serious motorcycle accident that nearly amputated my lower right leg about a year and 8 months ago. It was necessary to remove 4 packs of my abdominal muscles to put on my leg (it's called a flap). Couldn't put my right boot on so took it to have a zipper installed. He did a fantastic job and for a great price! I've used him about 4 times for various things from boots to belts. Never been disappointed. read more
