My wife purchased a Porsche and I started looking for a repair shop. Knowing very little about these cars I knew I would need a reliable repair person to perform the needed service and maintence. I live in California and rented my Mercedes sprinter van out to a couple when unfortunately my van broke down. It was then towed to Alpine Autohaus and they were nothing short of exceptional and professional. They fixed my van and I flew out the following week to pick it up. I was travelling through driving a used BMW Z3 that I had just bought when the check engine light came on. Stopped by Alpine auto, and Ray took the time to put it on the code scanner, diagnose my problem, and send me back on my way. Ray was extremely helpful and took the time to explain what was going on with the car, and point out many important features on the car. Took my 1999 mercedes benz e320 to this place and was blown away by how the husband and wife team treated me. They took my car in and worked on it and found exactly what was wrong with it and chrged me a fair price. I than wanted to know about smogging said car and ray hooked it up to the machine for free to tell me what needed to be completed in order to pass. Thanks ray for ur help. I have been taking my vehicles to Alpine Autohaus for almost 20 years. Ray is a doctor as far as I am concerned, and he keeps my cars running fine. On nearly every visit my car is done by that afternoon. I drive a 1992 Mazda Miata which I bought new and put the first mile on it. I took my car to this shop because of a prior good experience, however....... My car was in this shop for a week and a half to have a headlight assembly fixed or replaced. After a few days of diagnosing and trying one avenue and then switching gears to another direction, on day 5 we decided to order a new part and they said they would order it that day, have it overnighted so there would be no problem getting it in time, this was the Friday before Christmas and we did not want shipping/holiday being an issue. They were to order the part that day (untruth #1) On the following Tuesday I called to make certain the part had arrived and was on schedule so I could pick up the car on Wednesday (Christmas Eve). I was told yes, the part had not arrived but was due in that afternoon, (untruth #2 they had not yet ordered it) they would put it together the next morning and be set. Wednesday I get a phone call, the part had not arrived yet, they ordered it yesterday and requested overnight so as soon as it gets here they will fix it. Oh, and by the way our credit card machine is down so we can't process your credit card, no problem I have my check book, sorry you are out of the are so we cannot take your check, we will need you to bring in $1200 cash, WHAT? A disagreement ensues and I end up telling them leave my car alone, I will be in to pay for what has been done so far and pick up my car. Now he says, "but the part is due in and it is non-returnable" Not my problem, take my check and all is good, no my wife will be made if I take your check. I go into the shop with my nephew, who is local, they refuse to take his check also saying they cannot verify funds. It is a local check from a local bank and they won't even let us have the bank verify the funds for them. After all of this he still tries to get me to leave my car and have him put the part in when it arrives, by now it is 11:00 on Christmas Eve morning and the part is not there. I tell him no, hand him a cashiers check for the work done so far and ask for my keys. NOW he magnanimously says he will return the part at his own expense for the return shipping, ow! (Untruth #3 - he told me on the phone this morning the part was non-returnable). If you value honesty do not patronize this shop. read more
