I did not enjoy my experience with Carlton at all. I went in to see if acupuncture might help my tinnitus. I arrived about 10 minutes early, Carlton was still with another patient and was about 15 minutes late to start my appointment. When I finally got into his office, he immediately told me, he's unable to treat tinnitus. I appreciated his candor, but it was weirdly abrupt. I have never had such a short medical consultation of any kind. I had literally just sat down. Back in reception, there was already someone else waiting. He then charged me $60 for the 'office visit'. I was in his treatment room for maybe 2 minutes. That's when I realized, he was double booked and running late. But he still wanted some money. Ugh. And then as I was leaving, he calls out, right in front of the other patient, "come back if have you regular aches or pains, but I can't treat THAT". Yeah he made it sound like I have some kind of 'irregular' condition. So basically I paid $60 to wait in reception for 25 minutes and then get embarrassed on the way out. read more

I can't recommend the work Carleton does at Alpine Accupunture highly enough. I came in a few months ago, hoping to address some lingering numbness in my left heel after three back surgeries. I saw Carleton a couple of years ago. I was struggling with stomach issues and have exhausted my options and decided to try acupuncture. My first appointment with him, we went over my day to day life, he asked if I work out and I said that I walk at least a mile 3-4 days a week. He looked me up and down and responded with "You do?" Super unprofessional and rude. When we talked about my water intake, he "calculated" and said I need to be drinking at least 526 ounces of water a day... I saw all the amazing reviews of Carlton on Yelp so I went to him enthusiastically with several issues, including IBS. He assured me that he could treat it no problem so I did an hour of acupuncture. The weekend following my Thursday appointment I noticed I had a great many more flareups than before. I brought it up to our Monday sessions where Carlton asked a few questions but said it was too long after our Thursday session for it to be related. That monday session he did the needles plus a heat lamp above my stomach to I guess help but nothing was communicated to me. The days after that appointment were terrible. I had to take a Lyft home from my office in downtown back to the east side because I was in so much pain. It was absolutely terrible. I dealt with increasing worse and worse pain for 2 weeks until I went to the ER. The Dr did a CT scan and blood work and didn't find anything of note. Took steroids to help with the spasms and got to a very basic diet to try and reset my body. Why is this two stars? I understand that with acupuncture you can get worse before you got better but nothing was ever explained to me that this would be the case (I had to look it up myself) and my ailments were discarded as being not related. Is it possible that my issues occurred outside the treatment I was receiving? Absolutely. I just think the timing is extremely convenient, if not logical, to tie some sort of causation to what I was receiving at Alpine. read more

Coming from a person that passes out at the sight of a needle when trying to donate blood, don't be afraid of trying acupuncture! We live in Bellevue but make the drive to Issaquah for Acupuncture and Naturopathic Medical treatments because Carlton is good at what he does. My most recent patient experience has involved a combination of Chinese Herbs and Acupuncture. This pain from a herniated disc was something I just about gave up on ever healing.
