After an MRI, the doctor diagnosed that I had a frozen shoulder. She recommended acupuncture and massage therapy. She gave me a list of acupuncturists that she had heard good things about. This one was the closest to my home, but there were no Yelp reviews. I decided to take a chance with Lori Goerlitz. After two sessions, the pain was significantly reduced. Then I had one session with the massage therapist which also helped. One more acupuncture treatment after that and the pain was gone. I'm a believer. This works and Lori knows what she is doing.

I was new to acupuncture, and was hoping it would help with headaches, anxiety and stress. I was also nervous -- needles and non-mainstream medicine, yikes! I asked around for recommendations and was pointed to Carleton at Alpine. I'm so glad I did. In the hope that this will help others new to acupuncture, I'll describe my experience in detail. The office is comfortable, in a quiet medical building convenient to I-90. Carleton will talk with your insurance company to figure out what they'll cover. Then at your first visit, he spends a significant amount of time on the intake process, to really understand your health status and what you're looking for. He precedes each treatment with a short discussion about what's going on that day and what you'd like the session to accomplish. He takes careful notes to track what works or doesn't; he does extra research as needed. And he's very good at explaining what he's doing and why. And wow, do the sessions work! The first time, I had a sinus headache. The treatment first moved the headache to a different spot. When I told Carleton, he inserted needles into a different spot and the headache vanished. Quite an intro for a somewhat skeptical newbie! Ongoing sessions have been equally productive. He even worked briefly with my 12-year-old, who was scared stiff about acupuncture. He explained the process to her in a very low-key, gentle way, letting her know that the choice was hers and that she could decide whether to accept some discomfort in search of relief. She tried it. Though she ultimately decided it was too uncomfortable (it often is for kids), Carleton's approach left her feeling more confident about her ability to try new things and be brave when she needed to. I can't speak highly enough about Carleton, in terms of his skills and his bedside (tableside?) manner. read more

Carleton really understands how the human body works. He has treated me over the past 6 years. I appreciate how Carleton carefully listens as I describe what I am having difficulties with and than does his analysis based on his knowledge and experience. I don't write reviews very often (I should, and I plan to). But, my husband and I use Yelp everytime, when in search of real reviews, for the places we intend to take our business. I'd give more than 5 stars if there was an option for this place! I highly recommend Alpine Acupuncture! I suffer from many health problems, & felt there was no hope for me. Always in pain, sleeping all day and night from constant Fatigue, and never feeling refreshed. With the help of Acupuncture, I have gotten back to the gym on a regular basis, I no longer sleep all day or even need naps, & on most days, I wake up feeling refreshed! I had never tried Acupuncture before coming here. Carelton is wonderful! I cannot say enough good things about him! What can I say......Carleton was the answer to my long-suffering, year round allergies. I have been to several other clinics in the northwest, with varying degrees of success, but my allergies FINALLY started to disappear once Carleton introduced the technique of allergy desensitization to me alongside a regiment of herbs. The thing that sets Carleton apart from other acupuncturist is the fact that he understands every individuals ailments are unique to that person, therefore, each person requires their own specialized treatment. But what really stood out for me what the fact that Carleton did not nickel and dime me when it came to herbs. I was spending insane amounts of money on herbs and herbal consultations alongside acupuncture at other clinics but Carleton not only prices his herbs at a reasonable rate, he did not charge me extra for an herbal consultation. Carleton was recommended to me by my workplace health benefits coordinator. She told me she couldn't raise her arm due to severe shoulder pain and every doctor had written her off. She said Carlton at Alpine had done "miracles". He helped her to gain full use of her arm again. I'd had similar devastatingly disappointing experiences with doctors while trying to find help for back problems for 15 years. I'd never seen an Acupuncturist and had no idea my insurance would even cover it. I was ready to try anything to be able to walk and sleep and move again. I was dealing with radiating pain down my right arm due to a frozen right shoulder. I had PT and they put me under to disrupt the scar tissue. Still awful pain. I was sleeping in a Lazy Boy. A anesthesiologist friend said to try acupuncture and Carlton was near where I lived and in my health plan so I went. He said this may take 6-7 visits and if there is no change then this may not be the solution. Well it worked. The pain stopped totally after about 5 visits. Then he continued as we worked on getting my arm up over my head again. I cannot say enough good things about his honesty and commitment to his healing thru this very old method. I have used it for my piriformis when it has flared up. I tell everyone about acupuncture and refer them to Carlton if they are in the area. I have struggled with sleep for years, and was finally willing to try something new. I am a scientist though and always a little wary of things I perceive to be outside the bounds of the empirically determined. I found Carleton to be similarly focused on what really works for patient outcomes, and he took a lot of time to explain the history and science behind acupuncture, and that really put me at ease trying something very different from anything I had before. Carleton is fantastic. I've gone to him over the past four years for multiple issues. He understands body muscles and mechanics extremely well so while he might be treating me for a back issue, he can perform manual manipulation in concert with appropriate placement of a needle to release a muscle and suddenly I can move my neck freely again! For the most part, acupuncture is not a one-time fix and Carleton both explained that it might or might not work on my back pain and was clear that it could take 10-12 visits. Starting coming to Alpine Acupuncture when I had frozen shoulder and nothing was helping with the pain. With regular care, my frozen shoulder pain was manageable, and when the other shoulder started 'acting up,' I made an appointment immediately and that shoulder never got any worse and made consistent progress to healing.
