Year 2000:
I contracted with Derek Leclair (pre-Alphacon) to build a finished 400 sq ft "mother-in-law living area" in my newly constructed house in Hampstead, NH. It has a separate entrance to the outside and was completed with all utilities, HVAC, selected carpeting, dropped ceiling with recessed lights, painted wallboard, etc. All easily passed all inspections by the town. The quality and workmanship were top-notch, as could be seen in the mitered joints of the crown molding, etc. Derek was always polite, courteous and respectful when discussing plans and the occasional change to plans. Based on my experience with Derek, I would not hesitate to recommend Derek Leclair to anyone who is looking for a quality contractor.
Year 2003:
Having sold my Hampstead house, I moved to Hudson, NH, to another newly constructed house. I asked Derek Leclair to upgrade the dining room to include crown molding, chair rail and picture-frame inserts beneath the chair rail and included a coordinated painting scheme. Again, the craftsmanship was flawless, completed on time and on budget.
Year 2007:
Having sold my Hudson house, I moved to Amherst, NH, to a newly constructed house. Again, I contacted Derek Leclair, this time, AlphaCon,LLC. I asked Derek to finish the walk-out basement using approximately 1,200 sq ft of living area completed with all utilities, HVAC, selected carpeting, dropped ceiling with recessed lights, etc., and to include four rooms, a living room, a tv room (mini home theater) with water and cabinetry for a future bar, a separate room for a professional pool table, and a separate room for the gym area. Again, I was happy and not the least disappointed with the finished product. Needless to say Derek and his crews were always courteous and professional.
2010:
Having sold my Amherst house, I moved back to Hudson, NH, to another new construction. Again, I contacted AlphaCon (Derek Leclair) to finish my basement using over 1,000 sq ft. It is two separate areas completed with all utilities, HVAC, selected carpeting, hard finished ceiling with recessed lights, etc. Derek added a nice touch with classic crown moldings. One area is a game area for the pool table, ping-pong, air-hockey setup and a poker table area for the serious card sharks. The second area is the home theater with a 9' diagonal screen and includes all the audio/video amenities. Derek put all necessary A/V component wiring in a ceiling chase and walls. No wires are laying around, exposed or visible. All speakers are in-built into the walls. The exception are the two subwoofers. To build them into the walls would shake the pictures off the upstairs walls.
Summary:
Derek is the consummate artisan. In my dealings with him I provided him with detailed plans. We discussed the plan and exchanged ideas; then agreed on a fixed price, materials and a realistic timeframe within which to complete each project. No changes were made to the plan without first discussing them and what the affect to price and time would be. As in any dealing with a true artisan, once the plan is approved, . . . disappear . . . Let the artisan complete the project in the manner he deems best. There will be no disappointment. I look forward to future dealings with AlphaCon.
