I bought a golden scooter for my husband in October. This was so he could travel on an airlines . So far we have gone on Jet blue without any problem. He road it right to airplane door and it was there when we got off. Going on United airlines soon. It's light weight we can pick it up and put it in the back of my suv. Well-stocked store and knowledgeable staff. But there are a few tell-tale signs that they don't quite understand or cater to consumers of DME. First, they are only open 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday, plus mornings on Saturday. A typical family caregiver is also juggling paid work which is why many DME retail outlets are open extended hours one or two nights a week. Alpha is not one of them. Alpha's store entrance is difficult to find when approaching from the south, which may seem inconsequential until you factor in that a high percentage of their customer base has mobility issues. After a recent expansion, Alpha left its original exterior store signage and and original store entry (now locked) completely intact. Customers who mistakenly think the old entrance is still active will have a significant distance to navigate once they discover there is a new entrance down the block, not even visible when one is at the store's now-defunct entrance. Or, if they can't take on this distance, they can make the effort to get back into the car and back out again at the new entrance. This is a not-so-subtle indication that Alpha does not quite grasp the needs of its clientele. They prioritized the convenience of keeping their old signage and door rather than the needs of customers who could easily misread them. Lastly, Alpha's return policy is ten days. Unfortunately I only discovered this upon close inspection of my receipt before I planned to return two unopened, perfectly resalable items. If you are a family caregiver with a full time job during regular business hours, imagine all the obstacles that might prevent you from getting back to Alpha within ten days during their limited open hours? Alpha has a large and varied selection of items, and the new parking lot (once you find it) has a ramp. If you're looking for a DME retail outlet operated by people who really understand and are sensitive to the very specific needs of their customer base, Alpha is not it. read more

Both times I came in to buy a knee brace the staff was friendly and helpful. They have a few types of knee braces as well as all sorts of other supplies for folks with injuries or illness. I especially appreciated that the man who helped me took the time to measure my leg and review the information on the various packages on the rack to find the best match with my description of the problem. Being able to try things on briefly was really useful and made me feel confident I was getting what I needed. I really appreciate that this was a completely different experience from going to a big box sporting goods store to find a brace or getting something cheap from a drug store (both of which I have done in the past). I have purchased many items for my elderly mother from Alpha Surgical. One purchase was an item to assist her in the bathroom; however, she refused to use it. I kept the item, in its original box just in case. Her living situation changed and I no longer needed to keep the item. It is brand new. I went to return the item, which was past their return policy date hoping to get a credit, which I could use to purchase other items for her. The staff would not accept the merchandise saying it was a "liability" issue. How can it be a liability issue when it was never used. So, I am left with something that will not be used and out $56.00. Seeing that I am a repeat customer and explained everything to them, I feel I should have been issued a credit. The workers were very professional and nice to me when I walked in. I'm surprised to read a review from someone who said they were not. They took their time to help, check to make sure I was saving money with my insurance, and did price checks other places to make sure no one else charged less. Everyone who needs medical supplies should definitely take the trip here because they will do all that they can do help you. Stay away from Jayco Medical Supplies in Cranston. If you want bad business and rude owners, then that's the place to go...not Alpha Surgical. At Alpha, you get the support you need by professional workers. read more

Whomever wrote the last reviews of this place need to re-evaluate themselves. Was just in there to purchase a transfer bench for my elderly mother, and they went beyond my expectations. Very nice and helpful. A couple ahead of me was giving the woman at the desk a very hard time over insurance issues. She handled her very professionally, even though the customer was extremely rude. So, to those two negative reviewers, I ask, how did YOU act?? Kind-hearted, nice people here... highly recommend them!!!! read more

If you every need to rent a piece of medical equipment I suggest you avoid Alpha Surgical in North Providence. They promised to reserve an Ice machine for my Daughter's knee. Took my name to reserve it for pick up today but rented it to someone else yesterday. read more

The worst customer service. Unfriendly and not willing to be bothered with any of your needs. I had to walk out because of how I was treated. I was spending money every month on medical supplies and would have continued after my surgery but I was treated as if I don't matter and I will gladly just find another place to fill my personal surgical needs read more
