The…read moreschool is highly unorganized, their text selections and curricula are at least a year or two behind industry standards, and a couple of professors are so antagonistic towards students that it hinders the learning process. But if you look past that and really throw yourself into your studies, it can work itself out. As far as the staff, some there are better suited as McDonald's cashiers than admin/staff at a technical school. It's not 100% terrible, however. There are also a few administrators there who are actually pretty cool. There are 3 professors there whom I'll never forget and to whom I'll always be grateful. It is because of those 3 people this school earned the extra star. Overall, if it is quality which you seek, then there are other schools in the metro that will give you more for your money. I wish I'd have done more research... but hopefully others will be able to learn from my unfortunate mistake.

My niece worked for years and fought through so much to get to that moment, and her principal couldn't be bothered to stick around. Her teacher said some really sweet things about her, and the teachers talked about each student before they got their diploma which was very nice. The students also gave some really touching speeches. It seemed like they formed meaningful relationships. There were a couple teachers my niece wouldn't stop talking about during dinner afterwards and before Fusion I never got more than one sentence out of her if I asked how school was going. It seems like she really got a lot of help she needed, but the disrespect I saw from the administration (In the single day I visited the school....) was alarming.

I have two that have dyslexia that came in remediated, but they do have a remediation program. There is academic support. Those teachers are amazing and push into the classroom in elementary school. the teachers are supportive, communicative, and available accessible and connected with our kids. My kids are involved in sports music, dance, arts , theater. There are a lot of opportunities to be outward facing service projects, mission trips. While I appreciate that, my kids are taught the Bible and a relationship with Jesus and the teachers reflect that my kids also have a diverse group of friends that come from different religious backgrounds, economic, backgrounds, and political backgrounds, which aren't emphasized, but there is a variety of demographic. My son instance has friends that are Hindi, Punjabi, agnostic. My kids are taught not just about Christian world views, but different religious world views, different scientific views like evolution in biology (which someone for some reason said they aren't taught) and they're taught from a scientific standpoint not trying to dispute the scientific theory. As rhe get older, they have opportunities to question, debate, express their opinions in different classes and that's encouraged because they don't want the kids to be programmed robots. As I stated earlier, their families of different economic backgrounds, but that is not something that is known or something that at least for my kids they don't care if they have a lot of money or don't have a lot of money. It's just not important in the grand scheme of things. They have a diverse group of friends and I find that a lot of my friends kids find their niche. They find their people because there's so much variety and diversity. Well, they do a annual fun fundraiser. You could donate a dollar and still participate with zero judgment or not at all. There is a level of understanding from learning disabilities to economic to religious backgrounds that is accepted without judgment. Of course there's gonna be jerk kids at every school, but that's the minority and not the majority.

After my son complaining he doesn't want to go to school anymore I inquired and was met with "your son gets more than $99 of education and I will not be hiring teachers until the class is full. " Unfortunately , I didn't make the price for the school Glory Bud did so to advise me my child is getting more of an education than paid for is unprofessional at the least. Which to me was also a cover up for the lack of teachers and students present at the school. I thought it was a off day the day of enrollment as there was only 2 kids but as my son continues to go he was not pleased and stated he had the Director who is also the babysitter of the other two kids at the center. I was completely misinformed of the type of education and environment my child would be in. Also the schools hrs of operation are stated 6:30am -6pm yet when my sons comes at 6:30am I'm advised he is early and doesn't get a snake because The director Venus is not reimbursed. I could not deal with the misinformation any longer. So not happy my baby begged to go to school only to be disappointed by someone eager for a booming new school!

The scathing review was from a parent that wanted to bring her child in but I witnessed was late picking him up. But, to the educational value the school brought, they taught sign language to the infants and toddlers, they had STEAM, and STEM, foreign languages, early reading programs, outdoor play, full course meals and snacks and so much more. Sometimes people just feel the need to tear down what they can't control or abuse. It was a great school.

I appreciate the small class size, and the personalized attention has allowed my child to flourish academically and emotionally. It's clear that her teachers are caring and dedicated to the advancement of all students. There is a clear "yearn to learn" culture wherein students wherein students have a visible enjoyment for school and strive to perform above and beyond what would be deemed their traditional "grade level." Teachers are busy challenging your child's mind every day to ensure growth and success! The school works hard to meet every students individual needs and pace, understanding that each student is unique and tailoring assignments accordingly. Individuality is fostered and nurtured at this school--there are variable academic levels, needs, personalities, etc., among the students, and you can tell they are all happy to be here as soon as you walk in. We discovered Hess Academy when we were looking for a preschool program for our son. By the time it…read morewas time for him to begin Kindergarten at City Schools of Decatur (he was zoned for Winnona), we were so in love with Hess that we decided to stay. There are so many things that are great about Hess, but here the three things that work especially well for us. First, plenty of healthy outside time. The kids begin the day with 20-30 minutes in the playground before they need to into their classes. Lunch and recess are another hour, and everyone finishes the day with another 15 minutes in the playground. Second, classes are capped at 12-14 students with two full-time teachers. The individualized attention that our son's intellectual and emotional needs receive are, therefore, outstanding. Finally, the kids (and teachers) do not go through the horrible Standardized Testing that has become the norm at the Public-School system (although teachers and educators have been saying for years that this kind of testing is pedagogically harmful). There is so much more to love about this school--like the devotion that Hess teachers show their students and the sense of community. Just go and tour the school!
