This isnt your usual pound shop filled with the cheap things for a quid - they offer different items and it is quite good. The size is quite large inside and not nearly filled enough with stuff but as this is a newish business im sure it will be filled in no time. There is a good selection of food items and pops and confectionary and a good choice of toys and gifts and hardwares. They also offer a good choice of ethnic goods some of which are very unusual so if you like the unusual things this is a good unique shop. The window doesnt look convincing enough to guide you in as you only see the stock of pops, etc, but be amazed once you do see what is inside. The staff are very polite and friendly and very chatty. The store is very nice and clean and wellstocked - if they dont have what you want they go out of their way to convince you to let them get it in for you. There was a nice background music playing when i called which was ornamental and soothing - not too loud. lovely shop.

They have some absolute bargains like dvds and cds for a quid and they are sometimes the best ones - i once bought the mask dvd for £8 from hmv and then found it in here for a quid. They have a good choice of books too - some really good ones for kids and some good ones for adults like biographies - the stock is always changing. They have a good range of medical items like lemsip and the like for a quid which is a bargain. They sell household items, the odd bits of food and drink and lots of choice in confectionary. They sell some good socks for kids and adults alike too. A really busy shop with lots and lots of bargain which keep changing - be patient and look about to find the bargains. The staff are too busy to chat but are lovely and friendly when ther have to be.

It is very good for cleaning supplies and toiletries, and surprisingly good for childrens' books and computer supplies. The problem with poundland is that, because it is so popular, it gets very busy and crowded, with queues that are forced in to the aisles. There is a lot of tills but not always the staff to fill them. Aside from that the store is very clean and tidy. The shelves are not cluttered and the store has a layout that makes sense, you cn quite easily find what you want.

Kirkgate Shopping Centre has become something of a dead duck in Bradford city centre, ever since…read moreThe Broadway opened, it seemed more and more shops have relocated from here to the new mall (and who could blame them), sadly that means walking around Kirkgate Shopping Centre now is depressing, a run-down mall with empty units left, right and centre, and virtually no atmosphere. I'm not surprised to hear talks about this place being demolished. I got into the shopping centre from the escalators, opposite McDonald's, the first thing you could see is the giant Primark and pretty much nothing else. Not much going on inside - lack of mall staff/guides for shops that still exist here. A small number of units remain, including Primark and Sports Direct, both useful and many smaller/discount stores. 2* - Not worth going out of your way to visit, unless you specifically need one of the stores, certainly would be better to move the existing stores into the newer mall and use this space for something else.

I had a bad experience here yesterday. I don't normally wear shoes I have to lace up, which was probably the issue really, cos I'd just bought some converse hi-tops and wanted to wear them in a bit and had forgotten that double knots are the way forward. Anyhoo. Then I needed to pee. And finding the toilets was such a saga, with signs telling me to go upstairs (which I did), then to follow the concourse all the way round (which I did), and then queue up at the parking machines (which I did), and then get in a lift. At this point I got so confused and didn't believe that I had to come up an escalator and then get in a lift and so I ended up finding new toilets in the Kirkgate Market bit, which weren't very nice because they smelled of poop. I don't remember much else about Kirkgate Shopping Centre other than that it has an Argos and a Primark in it.

The first thing to catch my eye was the amazingly cheap bed linen on offer. They were selling some really quite duvet covers for next to nothing! I checked the feel of the fabric on the display cover and it was lovely and soft too so I was really quite impressed. On further investigation of the store I came to realise that Dunnes is something of a 'do-it-all' kind of shop - they had clothes, shoes, accessories, decorative items, house items and more on show in this really quite large shop. It's a little bit of a mix between Wilkos and Primark I guess, with the fashion and homeware items all rolled into one building. Whilst I was loving the cheap prices, I purchased myself a delightfully cheap sewing kit for £3 with a great deal inside, the quality is certainly not of the highest standard. For example, the safety pins inside bend very easily and the unpicker is pretty much good for nothing but accidentally stabbing myself. Unpick it does not. Jab me in the thumb as I try it most certainly does. As well as that the clothes on display, in spite of the temptingly cheap prices, were simply not nice enough to buy. Primark at least is bang on trend, even if their items will only last as long as their latest range - 3 months if you are lucky! I think I'd definitely browse again, certainly for some cheap bits when I move house, but it won't be the first place I think to come. The service I received was reasonably friendly but quite lack lustre. That being said, in a shop like this I'd rather not have someone going for the hard sell as they simply wouldn't get it. It's a fair old browse but not necessarily worth a special visit.

Dunnes is the Irish equivalent of M&S, to all intents and purposes. It's perhaps not quite as good…read morequality, but it's really handy as I live within a couple of minutes' walk from here. There's a particular clothing line they stock, Savida, which is pricier than the ordinary 'Dunnes' stuff, but is really good quality. They sell a lot of nice business dress and jackets. There's also a trendier, funkier line on offer, of which I own a few t-shirts and pairs of jeans, and I can't for the life of me remember what it's called - I'll have to check and update. The underwear is good enough quality and cheap too - got a few bras from here that have lasted and still look nice, and their homeware section is pretty much the same as Primark's but it's a bit more expensive. As it's next door to Morrison's, I find myself drawn in for a mooch about every time I do a big food shop, much to my detriment, as I always end up buying something Worth a trip.

Pound World is a magic place. It's full of tat, but then again, it has tons of great things too…read more For example, for medical supplies it's a god send! Plasters, painkillers, bandages and more are all on sale here and a damn sight cheaper than in most chemists. Think of Nurofen - about £3 or so in a chemists. Not in Pound World! This particular Pound World is of a reasonable size, and I tend to find the bigger the more choice they have in store. This one seems stacked of all the usual goodies one might expect, such as cheap delightful biscuits and snacks, gardening stuffs, cleaning products and more. They had a sort of half hearted Mother's Day selection of pink items, given that this occasion was fast approaching, but I must say it would be a depressing day, the day I buy my precious Mama her appreciation gifts from Pound World! No offence, Pound World, but she deserves more than you can offer! Pound World is full of bargains, but one must hunt for the real treasure within.

Dreadful company. Zero Customer Service…read more They sent me a £150 garden storage box that was so badly damaged it is unusable. I asked for a return - they refused because of their 28 day policy - I told them I don't want a return, I want a refund under the Sale Of Goods Act because the item was faulty. They refused and ended the webchat. There is no phone number to speak to them - the number on Google just rings and rings and no-one answers - rang weekday at 1pm - phone rang solidly for 10 minutes without answer. Do Not Use. They actually deserve minus 5 stars.

House of Fraser is a brand I've visited many times recently, mainly at my local Manchester store…read morelocated on Deansgate, that store basically is everything that this branch in Leeds is not, large and spacious, with the Manchester branch spanning across 6 floors and having more room across those floors for an enjoyable shopping experience, meanwhile this branch just feels rather unwelcoming and cramped. Unlike many branches of House of Fraser (HOF), this store doesn't really have much of an impressive feel to it, which is a shame. The selection of fragrances here seemed good, prices seemed competitive but there didn't seem to be any offers on, I did like how they had all the bottles in one area so you could spray them yourself, without different stands such as one for Armani and one for Hugo Boss, which in a way was okay as it made it easier to view a slightly limited selection of fragrances they had in store, however an issue was the mixing of male and female as there was about two female perfumes in the male fragrance section, luckily I spoke French and was able to read the bottle before disaster struck! The staff here seemed okay, they didn't seem too friendly, they seemed slightly helpful, perhaps average at best, yet slightly impersonal. I really didn't like this store mainly down to it feeling small and cramped compared to other stores, yet still this is a nice brand for a city like Leeds to have, and there is reasoning for this place not to warrant a single one-star rating, so I feel House of Fraser in Leeds deserves a slightly generous two-star rating.

'Batley Mills' is a great place to visit for a relaxed one stop discounted shopping experience…read more I am pleased to say 'The Mill' in the last couple of years has evolved and improved greatly on their selection of women's clothing and fashion, catering for a wider range of clients than just the over 60s. As well as Planet and Precis Petite, they have expanded their clothing range to include Minuet, Kaliko and Jacques Vert which is great. I have as a result started going to the Mill regularly to keep my work wardrobe up to date. I have really had some good buys. As well as the improved womens clothing, the Mill in Batley is a great place to find handbags, luggage, wallets and purses etc. The discounted brands include Radley and Hideskin The staff seem helpful and friendly and if you are visiting by car there is plentiful free parking (although it can get busy at the weekends). The Cafe Nova coffee shop is located on the 1st floor of the mill and they not only serve delicious teas and italian coffee but their cakes and sandwich selections are also very tempting and a great excuse to have a break. It would be nice if good quality fashionable footwear could be introduced to the mill, similar to the selections found at the Boundary Mill in Colne. I also think emailing offers and information out to customers regularly for shopping events such as an extra 10% off or a free coffee voucher would be a good way of encouraging cutomers to keep visiting. I don't always go to the upper floors of the mill as I find the escalator system a little bit frustating in that you are forced to walk along the length of each floor for the ascent and then the same again on the way down. This zig-zagging may be an attempt to encourage shoppers to walk through each of the floor areas but I am afraid I just find it a nuisance. Other than that I would enthusiastically recommend a visit to The Mill in Batley. Happy Shopping :)

I was there again last week and bought 2 nice suitcases and 3 pairs of shoes all good makes. They have a great selection of Radley and Tula handbags the prices are about half the normal price and I bought my husband a really nice Regatta jacket for £45 instead of £100! If you want a good shopping day out you can spend several hours at the Mill with all the top brands available at half the cost! A mile further along the same road is Red Brick Mill which is fantastic for Home purchases rather than clothes.
