From cleaning products, kitchen items, DIY bits and bobs, cheap snacks, cards and so much more - they've got it covered. If you're a keen shopper/browser it's a veritable treasure chest to explore. My particular favourite is the upstairs section. Here's where the items get slightly less bargainous and become a little higher end... They've beds, lamps and all other kinds of home furnishings in a range of styles. Faux-antique right through to the more modern sleek look. I bought an awesome 'telephone box' lamp for my room at home, which is so kitsch and delightful and only set me back £15. (I can imagine it costing a ton more in a vintage shop!) My Mum was particularly overjoyed with a red painted vase that she picked up as well, of which they had many different shades! So, there's plenty to get excited about, and not too pricey as well. However, all that glitters is not gold. I did come away having purchased a few oil reed scent dispensers (the pots of oils with the wooden reeds) and they simply don't work at all. They were only a pound each, but I can see why they were so cheap as they give off no scent at all! Even so, I'm pleased as punch with my lamp so that more than makes up for it!

It was the first time I'd been in a shop which I cannot categorize by what it sells, IT SELLS EVERYTHING !! From bleach to crisps, rugs to xbox games, they have almost everything under one roof. The only thing I can say lets it down is a lack of electrical goods like TV's but if you're looking for a pack of brass tacks and a birthday card for auntie Mabel this is a good place to start........ and if you're feeling tired you can nip upstairs and pretend you're testing a bed out :)

This isnt your usual pound shop filled with the cheap things for a quid - they offer different items and it is quite good. The size is quite large inside and not nearly filled enough with stuff but as this is a newish business im sure it will be filled in no time. There is a good selection of food items and pops and confectionary and a good choice of toys and gifts and hardwares. They also offer a good choice of ethnic goods some of which are very unusual so if you like the unusual things this is a good unique shop. The window doesnt look convincing enough to guide you in as you only see the stock of pops, etc, but be amazed once you do see what is inside. The staff are very polite and friendly and very chatty. The store is very nice and clean and wellstocked - if they dont have what you want they go out of their way to convince you to let them get it in for you. There was a nice background music playing when i called which was ornamental and soothing - not too loud. lovely shop.

They stock allsorts but be careful to check the dates as i bought some bargain chocolate bars which were out of date when i got them home - i shouldve checked. They offer lower quality items in my opinion so what you buy isnt always a bargain. The shop is a bit musty and bare in places. The staff are ok but not the friendliest. The best thing about the place is the music as they have good taste in music and love to have it blaring out. Oh and they have a rogues gallery on the wall of shoplifters in their store who they have photographed and put on the wall to name and shame

It's main problem is the stairs at the front. There's a whole flight of stairs just to get into the shop and the till is at the top of them. Not good for pushchairs. Not surprisingly, it's rarely busy in here but it is worth stopping by and having a look, it does sometimes carry some very good bargains and it's quiet.

It has a number of useful things inside, such as storage boxes, stationary, DIY materials, kitchen items and more. It also has a number of totally random items that you can giggle at - thermal vests with a most amusing image of a man on the front, random 80s style cross word puzzle books with those hilarious posing ladies on the front and my personal favourite - 'Santa Plops', some rather weird themed chocolate treats. They made me laugh for ages. So for fun and function, visit the land of Captain Value. You can even get some Otley fudge!

Aisles and aisles filled with random, useful items and some utter tacky rubbish. I like Habitat, don't get me wrong, but really, why bother when you can get good quality furniture for much less. Especially if you are a student! Which is perfect for this area. Flocks of students come and go through Leeds, moving every year and needing to get rid of or attain furniture every time they do. Junk Again are aware of this and have cleverly positioned themselves not far from the postcodes that are predominantly student populated. If you are looking for a cabinet, a table, or arm chair, or are looking to get rid of, a fridge, a freezer, or chimney pot, Junk Again is a great place to go. They are slightly chaotic but that just adds to that old fashioned feel of shops of this type. Plus no-one will look down their polished nose at you as they so often do in Habitat.

However, pretty much the only thing that we required for our move was a sofa and some arm chairs. Enter: Junk Again! My old housemate had spotted Junk Again on her way through Woodhouse and suggested that we tried here for a cheap second hand suite. I was game for any bargain and so when she called me, all a fluster, to tell me about this awesome sofa, two arm chairs and a pouffe for a mere £40, I came immediately to the scene. Yes. That's right. All that for forty flippin' pounds. The friendly chap explained that he had planned to have them cleaned but hadn't yet, so was willing to let them go for that much - all we needed to do was clean them. No probs, Handy Hire in Headingley solved that one for us dirt cheap too! We couldn't have been more chuffed. Inside you'll find an array of lovely old furniture and the odd antique, for seriously cheap prices. My advice is: if you're moving look here first. I've a few more things I need myself so I'm planning a re-visit very soon...

I'm guessing the first one is plain stupid (well stupid is as stupid does) so I got y sorry looking butt down to Red Brick Mill. What a pleasant find it is too. They pride themselves on some of the North's leading contemporary designers and their furniture is sheer class. They are home to 35 cutting-edge designers and there is enough inspiration to keep even my motor mouth quiet for an hour or so. If you want to jazz up your lounge, no problem. Slick and chic sofas sit along side funky tables. You'll even find plush flooring, cookware and gifts. It's quite pricey but sometimes money does buy taste and it shows here. Add to that four cafes to refresh those flagging shopping legs and it's worth a punt. A definite reason to venture into Batley and spruce up the house in your life.

This is quite an aladins cave and there are many bargains to be had but you do have to get over what it looks like as it does look pretty muddled and higgledy piggledy. You do have to root about to find stuff but in my opinion it is well worth doing that. The shop sells anything from sweets and colouring books to cigarette papers and lighters, stationary and toiletries and some gardening gear. There are many offers to be had like 2 for 1s and discounts with a lot of things down to 50p. The shop is absolutely jam crammed full of things and thus hard to manouvre round - it would be really hard for disabled people as there are also 2 steps up into the shop too. The guy who serves here is very friendly and usually very chatty.

Most of the items are block colours, with some really bright limes and pinks which are quite nice. The main element seemed to me to be their knits and jersey t-shirts which are all quite reasonable. They had some lovely evening bags, which are 20% off at the moment! Some of the knit dresses were really shapely and well designed, with little cuff sleeves, high roll neck and just below the knee, for £15. They even sold knee highs for a pound! All in all this place is great for a one off bargain, but being so hit and miss for me made it feel more market stall than discount fashion! Still, worth a gander at any rate.

It is a bit hit and miss, and it is a case of keeping popping in as when it's gone, it's gone.
