August 24, 2019 @ 2 p.m.: My wife and I dropped off our dogs for grooming. They took down my phone number and told us it would be about an hour. We asked if it would be okay if we came back at 6 and were told that would be fine. After leaving we realized that they never asked us for proof of rabies vaccination and thought that they perhaps just forgot. When we returned at 6 they hadn't even started on our dogs and informed us it would be another 2 hours or that we could opt to bring them back today at 2 p.m. August 25, 2019 @ 2 p.m.: Against our better judgement we returned with our dogs because we drive a truck and really needed them groomed before leaving to go back on the road. Upon arrival we stood out front for more than 30 mins waiting for them to open. During the wait an employee sat in her car as two other customers came to pick up their pet from an over night stay with Obedient By Nature. She made no attempt to make them aware of why they weren't open and kept playing on her phone.There was also another customer waiting that had a 2 p.m. apartment for grooming. We finally got fed up and left after more than 35 minutes of this and called Bark Avenue Mobile Grooming. Who is coming to us to provide the exact same service for the exact same price. Huskies aren't supposed to be cut and they don't like to be dirty. She also ground his nails instead of clipping them. After becoming concerned about his condition, we took him to our veterinarian, who determined that his injuries were consistent with head trauma and that he required medical treatment. As pet owners, this was heartbreaking and completely unexpected. We entrusted our loving addition to their care believing he would be safe, and we left with more questions than answers about how such a serious injury could have occurred. While their contract states they are not responsible for injuries sustained while pets are in their care, that disclaimer did little to ease our concerns or address what happened to our dog. Every pet owner has to make their own decision, but based on our experience, I encourage others to ask detailed questions about supervision, incident reporting, and what procedures are followed if a pet is injured while boarding. We hope no other family has to go through what we experienced. So to answer your question; what could you improve, our family's answer is, EVERYTHING!!!
