I visited this restaurant when I was in the area and actually brought a client. They are not fancy but have been around a while. One sign says Since 1972, another says Since 1981. They have a lot of fried items to cater to the local community, in addition to soups, salads and burgers. I tried the regular gyro and found it to be heaping with meat. It was tasty with plenty of tzitki sauce. The garlic fries are unique and addictive. My colleague ordered a burger and my client ordered a chicken gyro and both seemed to enjoy their meal. While this is not a 5 star restaurant, it certainly gets the job done if you're in the area. My one main complaint would be the hotter than hell men's restroom. Hopefully they can rectify that situation soon. read more

The best hood tacos and fries I've ever tasted! The (oldest) son is such a good people person and customer service person. It really beams through that he takes pride in his work and likes to interact with the customers. I've been eating here since about 2008 and the only thing I have ever eaten from here has been the steak tacos w/ everything (cheese, grilled onion, cilantro, and tomato) and the garlic fries w/ mild sauce. This is the best comfort food ever. They have also recently updated the restaurant... It DESPERATELY needed it, so I was pleasantly surprised to see all the updates. The recipe tasted SLIGHTLY different from the last time I went...but the food was still good. Found this spot here on Yelp and decided to confirm or refute the good reviews. I called my order in which is when thus business obtained the 1st of 5 stars. They answered almost instantaneously (although they were busy as i later witnessed)and was very courteous and patient. They make you feel that you are a valued customer and not a number that increase revenue by asking Your name which is called upon the order being ready. He also complimented me on my name. The food took the 10 mins they promised and meals are made when ordered. It was reasonably priced and deeeelicious!! I had a chicken gyro w fries, 10/10. This place has been totally remodeled. I don't know if its under new management or the sons to come over for the father but the food is great the updated the menu. I usually go to Alpha Gyros twice month for a meal, but today I was disappointed. I always order a gyro plate with lettuce, cheese and mild sauce, the gyro meat fried around the edges, with salt and pepper on the fries. Today my meal was NOT how I expected. A portion of the gyro meat had been fried, the lettuce and cheese were put in a separate bag instead of inside the tray with the gyro meat, the feta cheese was melting under the tomato slices, I asked for salt and pepper on the fries and instead of putting it on them, the cashier just pointed to the salt and pepper packs that were on the counter and the fries were hard and crunchy (burned). I'll be glad when the guy with the curly hair (I assume he is the manager or the owner) comes back and put some order in there because the cashiers and cooks did not know what they were doing. read more

Hubby and I've been coming here for a couple of years now. We'd passed it several times over the years we've lived in the area and finally decided to try it. SO very glad we did! Upon entering, we noticed the color scheme similar to a favorite place in Blue Island, T & G Gyros. It's no wonder, it's owned by the same family. In any case, we've never had a bad meal from here. Chicken pita, grilled chicken salad, gyros, Italian beef and/or sausage, Big Baby cheeseburgers with bacon, foot-long Polish sausage, fish sandwich, whole chicken wings with their homemade buffalo wing sauce and easy lemon pepper (fabulous!), grilled cheese with bacon and finally, last night, tried their combo sub sandwich with beef and turkey. Wonderful. Everything is always so fresh and so good! Something else to know: their customer service is great! Tommy and his son, Jimmy, cashiers Toya, Tyra, etc., always make us feel welcome and valued. If there's a mistake in an order, they'll make it right.
