My first interaction with this business was to do an FFL transfer of a shotgun I ordered…read more I was in and out in maybe 20min (it was rather busy that day, and FFL transfers in CT typically take that long anyway because the DESPP takes ages to answer a call), so this was a bit quicker than normal). I maintained email correspondence with the owner Tom, and the individual that sold and shipped the firearm. Tom was extremely polite and thorough with his responses, and though I hadn't met him during in person during this interaction, I knew I'd be back. I got a good deal on some gun parts that had to be shipped to an FFL, and I emailed Tom with a quick question to be sure about something. I got a response back within the hour and my question was answered with the same precision and professionalism from before. This time, I actually got to meet him in person and while he may seem like a giant mean person (I get the same from people) he truly is gentle and polite in person too! AND HE REMEMBERED ME FROM MONTHS PRIOR for the transfer! THAT, alone, is a HUGE thing for me. We chatted, laughed, while he managed multiple things at once. Eventually, I finished the sale with his wife as he had to tend to some other things with other customers and I was on my merry way. I absolutely recommend Tom's Firearms for your firearms and fishing needs! Yes, fishing! There's an entire section in the store for fishing supplies (bait & tackle).

Carmelo also has a small but very good store and he always manages to sell me on something...either an accessory or a pistol. Top-Tier Instruction at Defensive Shooting Academy…read more If you're looking for firearms training that combines expert level knowledge with real world approachability, look no further than Defensive Shooting Academy. Carmelo and Taisah are outstanding instructors not only are they extremely knowledgeable about firearms, ammunition, and (most importantly) safety, but they also have a natural talent for teaching. Whether you're a brand new shooter or someone with years of experience under your belt, they meet you where you are and take you further. Their teaching style is clear, engaging, and hands-on, with a focus on building both confidence and skill. And here's the thing they're not just instructors, they're good people. Down-to-earth, respectful, and genuinely passionate about what they do. In today's world, that's rare. As a 13 year Marine combat veteran, I've seen a lot and trained with some of the best and I still walked away from their classes learning new things. That says a lot. If I can learn from them, trust me, anyone can. Whether you're training for self-defense, looking to improve your marksmanship, or pursuing certifications like the CCW Instructor Course, this is the place to do it. I highly recommend Defensive Shooting Academy and fully plan on coming back for more training.

The most important thing about any place of business is going to be staff. The Staff here are friendly and it's a small community or family type atmosphere. The best part of this shop is the range. Nice and clean, great sound deadening, and the air is so clean. I spend a lot of time in the range so I really appreciate the air quality. Range is great for pistol shooting and some tactical shotgun and long guns. State of the art carrier system and all lanes are working. The place is usually busy but never really have had to wait more than a few minutes to get to a lane. Pricing is good for range time and there is an option for membership. The selection of rentals could be better but it's enough that if you have never shot you have a good selection. The store has a small selection of the most popular pistols and some long guns with decent prices. Overall the range, Store, and especially staff are great. And I highly recommend this place. This is the best indoor range with in 30 miles of my town I have been to in the area.

Back in 1991 I purchased my very first firearm from this nice gentleman named Chris. I will never forget that experience because I was so nervous and intimidated. He made it a great experience and I returned several times. After 20 years, I recently returned to the area and was nicely surprised to see Bethany Firearms still in business (says something there) and that not only was Chris still the owner, he remembered my name. The selection is excellent as is the service. Liz and Chris are hysterical and make it a fun place. When it needs to get serious they are a wealth of knowledge and will not steer you wrong. They would rather you walk out empty handed (except for a cup of coffee, soda, water, or even a hot dog) than buy something that you will regret. After all said, I made multiple purchases recently and cannot thank them for helping me get back into the sport. Even my family is taking part as well. This is one of the few places that shows what a small business should be like. Thank you so much Chris. Keep up the good work.

We asked about a few items in the case and he didn't show us any of them. He stayed by the register talking to us from the other side of the store instead of close to us and the items we were looking at. Nobody else in store. He was smoking a cigar out front when we arrived. My friend I was with bought two firearms over the weekend from here and said the other gentleman is the informative one and the one to deal with, not the guy who is here today who can't lift a hand to help us or show us any of the merchandise in the cases.
