He wanted to have a 3D scan of my tooth before he removed a crown or took an impression to verify whether the root was fractured. His "Colonel" at the VA since did the 3D scan and redid the root canal yesterday. The VA advised me that I would need to get a new crown installed within the next two weeks. However, when I called today to make that urgent appt I was told that Dominic is booked up until July 18th for "VA patients" and that the office manager was out today. It's a sad state of affairs when Veterans like me get the shaft and yet civilians get preferential treatment.

I myself am very particular about dentists and have had a lot of issues with dentists in the past. I went to a periodontist earlier in the year and I felt like they were trying to rip me off so I switched dentist on my wifes recommendation. I found the reception folks to be helpful and quick to answer questions. The hygienist was friendly and dr ash really out things over the top. A good doctor can explain issues in a way that folks can understand,no pressure and give different options. Dr ash made me feel at ease and explained all kinds of facets of my personal dental issues -all without making me feel like he was trying to sell me anything. My wife told me that dr ash and staff meet every morning to review each patient that is coming in that day. In addition they check in post appointment with all patients. Highly recommend.

I have also endured procedures that were supposed to fix issues but resulted in making things worse. For that reason I have not gone to a dentist as often as I should have and the result was a lot of missing teeth. My fault, I understand that. If I had taken better care of my mouth and visited the dentist regularly I might have avoided a lot of trouble. Last year my wife was referred to Dr. Brent Van Hala by a friend. She came home telling me how much she liked his staff and their approach to dental work. She tried for several months to convince me to see Dr. Brent but I kept making excuses. Finally, late last year I made an appointment. I was sceptical but Dr. Brent came up with a game plan to fix my dental issues. I was very impressed with his chair-side manner and with his staff. I have had several procedures over the last year and I can say without any doubt that the results have been life changing! He has such compassion for the patients he serves. He is always very calm and caring as he works. I have never had such confidence in a dentist before. He also takes the time to keep up to date with the latest techniques and equipment. I was the world's worse sceptic when it came to dentists in general, but now I am singing the praises of Dr. Van Hala and his staff! Trust me, if Dr. Brent could turn me around then he can help anyone. I highly recommend Dr. Brent Van Hala!

Be VERY careful if you chose this practice for your dental care. There are two complaints below…read morethat are similar to my own. Here's my experience: I was told I needed a crown and given a printout of what I would owe after insurance - $259.20. I called twice to get verbal clarification and to confirm my cost. I was told by the office staff that they were very familiar with my insurance and knew exactly what my portion would be. Furthermore, I was told, they didn't need prior authorization to perform the procedure. So, I had two verbal confirmations in addition the written cost. Then, I was slapped with a bill for $648.00 from the dental group stating my insurance didn't cover as much as they thought. I filed a grievance with my insurance company who found the dental group never verified the insurance coverage and went off an old plan. To add insult to the injury, I was given a receipt AFTER the procedure that state it was my responsibility to fact check them and determine my exact cost. This dental group does not operate with competency or integrity. I would have never agreed to the procedure knowing I had to pay $900. I have filed a complaint with the BBB and the attorney general consumer affairs. Apparently, they've done this at least twice before. It's a disgrace to operate a dental office this way. You can't help but think it has to do with $$$.
