First off, let me say that I have ZERO experience in water sports and actually can't even swim, so I was naturally a bit anxious to try e-foiling during honeymoon, even though Mark Zuckerberg made it look cool. From the first moment we stepped on the sand, though, the instructors were SO kind and reassuring - letting us know we would have helmets and life jackets, and that they would be right next to us the entire time. We got there bright and early for their first lesson (7am) and were given a brief but informative training by Steve and Nick, who were really cool and funny. There was also a cute dog there who turned out to be insta-famous lol (roxyfrenchie808, in case you're curious). Everyone who came for the lesson or to just hang out seemed to know each other, so it was a really chill vibe. After a quick lesson, we were in the water and both Nick and Nicho circled us on the boards the entire time, making sure we were safe, giving us on-the-fly advice, and taking pictures and videos to share with us after the lesson. Even though I'm terrified of water, I was easily standing on the board within 45 minutes, ready to advance to the e-foiling part. My hubby and I had a blast the entire time, and we ended up going back for another lesson ON THE MORNING OF our 11:30am flight. That's how fun it was, haha. I would definitely give the whole experience and the instructors 5 stars and would come back again if we were ever vacationing in Maui. Thank you Aloha E-foils for a great honeymoon experience!! Tips (for an inexperienced water buffalo like me): (1) Hydrate and get plenty of rest the night before, because it can get tiring if you fall as many times as I did. (2) Bring or wear a rash guard to avoid scuffing up elbows or your belly getting back on the board (also because it might be slightly chilly in the AM). (3) Don't be afraid to go full-speed and stand up as quickly as possible - the instructors will encourage you to do this. After you stand up one time, you'll realize how easy it is (like riding a bike), and you can spend the rest of your time learning to rise up out of the water, which in my opinion was the hardest part but very do-able on your first lesson. (4) Even though it was nice for a honeymoon, you'll save more money if you come with a large group. It also makes you feel safer to have people around you while in the water. read more

Just stepped off one of the funnest boards I've ever ridden! I was a bit skeptical at first. I have ridden plenty of water crafts, from surfboards, to wake boards, skis, OC-1, etc. How fun could an e-foil really be? OMG. Grinning from ear-to-ear for hours kind of fun, that's how much. The guys at Aloha put on a 5-star show. We arrived at 7am and got a quick but fun briefing on how to work the foil and some tips on how to get the most out of the experience. Within 15 minutes we were on the water and, well.... foiling! Even those that had no board experience were up and riding quickly. The hand controller was so easy to operate - almost intuitively so. Within another 20 minutes I was making smooth turns and zipping right along. The location is nothing but breath-taking. It was an ethereal experience for me, kinda like riding a magic carpet across the sea. Waaaaaay better than expected! I thought I'd be out there for days, but after a couple hours on the water we were all ready to come in; you definitely get your money's worth here. Back on shore I was greeted by high-fives and fresh water to shower off. When I arrived home, I had an entire album of photos to share with my friends. My young adult age kids and wife/ fiancé wanted to do this. I wasn't as confident. I cant surf, and have terrible balance. BUT, I'm so glad we did. We all had so much fun. The kids were up and riding within minutes. I had no problem balancing, and within a few minutes was able to stand. And shortly after that had the board coming out of the water. We have been coming to hawaii for 30 years, and this was one of the funnest times we have had. If you feel some hesitation, don't worry. There is a training time at the beginning, and then everyone is in the water. The instructor is out with the group the whole time helping and answering questions. I'm 60 years old, and clumsy, and i had fun from the moment we hit the water. I think my wife was a little impressed. You go at your own pace. From laying on the board and getting used to it to standing and then getting up on the foil is doable even if you have no athletic skill. I am proof of that and so happy I gave it a go. My wife enjoyed sitting on the beach and watching. It's a beautiful beach and a comfortable place to sit and watch. Bring a beach chair if you plan on watching. Don't miss out on this. This was incredibly fun and the best activity you can do in Maui! Steve and his crew were super friendly and helpful, prioritizing safety and rider comfort/experience. My wife & I had never done efoiling before and were up and foiling in no time. Once you get the hang of it, you'll be hovering above the warm water enjoying the scenes of a beautiful Hawaiian beach. Ear to ear smiles guaranteed. Like one of the other reviewers, the day we originally booked turned out to be pretty windy. Steve recommended that we come back the next day for a better experience. He was 100% right and we appreciated how much he cared that we had a good experience. I agree with the recommendation to book earlier in the day (less windy) and book earlier in your trip in case the weather doesn't cooperate. Finally, for the small set of you who have been thinking about getting into Wing or SUP foiling - think about this as your first lesson getting familiar with a foil. read more

Aloha Efoil was the highlight of our recent trip to Maui! Our group of four had a blast with Nick, Steve, Nicho and Keoni. These guys really took care of us, they not only made sure we were safe and gave us tips to improve our form but made it fun all at the same time. Steve was so funny and fun, really made our first time foiling a blast! Check out his liability paperwork, it reflects his sense of humor. 11 on a scale of 1 to 10. Steve gave us a lesson on the sand, then Nicho hung out on the water and gave us all tips on standing, turning, foiling and staying close to shore. Awesome adrenaline infusion...and easier than surfing. My kids and I have had little success with other watersports (surfing, windsurfing, kiteboarding) but enjoy speed! Aloha Efoils will not disappoint. Steve is hilarious and very welcoming and encouraging, kept telling us that we would get it in no time. And he was right...within 20 minutes of instruction, we were standing and riding on the water. Foiling out of the water is more difficult, but we were able to get a taste of that too. Awesome time! A couple of things make this a 5 star review: 1) the day I booked was going to be windy so got recommendation to join earlier in the day; they really were looking out for a good experience. 2) they have a wide variety of boards and sizes which came in handy 3) I never got pressured to leave the water. I stayed as much as my energy (and my bored battery) would allow me to 4) they were constantly hovering next to me giving me tipa and making sure I had a great time. Soooo much fun! The guys are great at running through safety and then getting you out on the water quickly. I was up and going within about 30 mins, and they let me go until my legs were tired- how cool is that?! Also as I progressed they came out gave me pointers, and even switched my board to give me a better experience. I will be back! read more
