The store offers designer & alt-designer clothes, shoes & bags for a fraction of what you would pay for them retail (Dries, Owens, Isabel Marant, Acne). For a taste of what they have on offer (as well as heads up on sales), follow them on Instagram. Some of the reviews here mention a snooty staff. I've never experienced that. I have found everyone to be courteous, friendly and respectful, engaged when I had questions, but otherwise leaving me to my own devices (which is the kind of service I prefer). I've also worked with Eva in her closet-cleaning, wardrobe upgrade service and for anyone who is thinking that they might need the same I say DO IT. She doesn't mess around - the process was fun, yes, but also efficient. We did the closet-cleaning, during which we chatted about what I liked, and where I was looking to stylistically go. Then she spent a day scouting stores & sending me pictures of things she found to see what I liked (and didn't like). After that, we shopped together for 3 hours - and boom, just like that, I have a tight, beautiful perfect-for-me selection and a bunch of styling ideas using things I already have. It seems like such a luxury to use a service like this but, honestly, I find that I am making better choices about what to put in my (wonderfully airy) closet (read: fewer expensively suspect decisions). If there is something I have a question about, I text a picture to Eva and she send me back her thoughts. I can't recommend Eva & the store highly enough.

Curated vintage and new fashion that blends perfectly in the Bedstuy setting. On Tompkins near some other buzzing businesses. I knew it was a special place when I noticed the mellow red walls as a friend who lives close by brought me over. Clothes can be on the smaller side, with a solid selection for male and female. More tops for men although I'm sure at times it changes. Some consignment jewelry and items from other artists. Selection of bags too But even if you don't make a purchase the ever hospitable Harvey will bring you into a great discussion. I was absolutely devastated when they closed up their old location a couple of years ago. There really is no replacement for HW, as well as its mission to serve the AIDS/HIV population. Also, with the change in the retail corridors in BK heights as well as Dobro (no more 99 cent stores!!), it really was a trememendous loss. So, I am beyond thrilled that Housing Works is back on Montague Street (and in a location much closer to my apartment, to my financial detriment!) The newer storefront feels a tad smaller than the old space, but with a similar layout. Clothing and accessories in front, housewares towards the back, with the donations area at the back wall. The selection seemed more thoughtfully curated, if a little thin. Housewares and bric a brac organized and styled aesthetically by color. Clothing styles were mixed and a little on the higher end, but this reflected some items that were newer or with tags. For ladies, there were some gems by Derek Lam, Coach, Rag and Bone, DVF and Theory. Some brand new coach coats with tags for $150. I didn't get anything but I'll definitely check back in periodically.

We were incredibly disappointed with the customer service and durability of this store's products and will certainly not be going back again.
