The doctor at this facility limits DOT medical card to 6 months that forces to pay and renew more…read morefrequently without probable cause. The doctor states that it is mandatory to send patients to a sleep study program based on weight, age and being male. Stating it to be mandatory is not true! Pursuant to DOT this is not mandatory and only discretionary. This provides a loophole to exploit! While speaking to the doctor requesting my full term DOT card for which I paid fully to obtain, she hung the phone up on me. Larger question - if based on her discretion a sleep study is needed, she provided me a limited 6 month DOT card. If the concern was a factor, what can happen within a 6 month period? This is not about an issue but appears more about more exploitation to benefit forcing frequents DOT renewals. A DOT card distribution should be all or none. Further, the staff is very rude as this was my 1st visit there. While there I observed another client expressing dissatisfaction. Thinking it may have been an isolated event, in retrospect thinking it may be a facility norm. I want to be fair with rating fairly but this experience feels suspect and bad.

I was so pleased with how attentive and caring the staff was with my mother; it helped me feel at…read moreease to know she was in capable hands that could provide her with everything she needed to get better. Her progress from the day she admitted to Westland Nursing and Rehabilitation center to today is astonishing, I am beyond grateful for everything the staff has done for her. They did not just care for her they took the time to get to know her and make her feel comfortable. They knew her by name and every time I was in to visit several staff members would stop in her room to check in on her and say hello even if they weren't working the floor. She loved Kim the unit manager on her floor she said she always found a way to make everyone smile and brighten their day. The care you receive feels personal and that was really important to me and my family. We are beyond happy with our mothers stay at Westland and because of the excellent care she received we are able to take her home; that's a feeling I cannot even put into words. Whenever a child is struggling in school there are many aspects to take into account. Adhd, Sensory processing disorder, Autism, visual processing issues, Dyslexia, learning disabilities and that is just naming the common issues. They say it takes a village to raise a child and I concur. So often parents will take an initial diagnosis as fact but in reality these conditions run so parallel it is often difficult to say with certainty. Being a parent is hard but when your child struggles the ante is raised. No one knows their child like a parent does but often a school or Dr. will label a child because they don't learn the same as the average child, often psychostimulants are prescribed unnecessarily. Building bridges is an amazing place with caring therapist that will help to tease out conditions and give alternative therapies to children as well as suggest stimilants if necessary. I've seen some amazing progress from this facility and can give eyewitness testimony to the staffs dedication and hard work. I have the highest respect for this facility and highly recommend.
