Well this was a treat. Freshly taken over by a couple who moved over from Sydney early in 2015 this place is well off the beaten path, although, the path is rather beaten, so maybe it's *on* the beaten path (sigh!). The wines are good. Nothing here is (currently) spectacular and worth the trip in its own right but there's a nice young Sav Blanc that's fresh and very drinkable. The Rose and bubbles both surprise and the reds are pretty tidy too: a pinot with a little something to it and a Cab and Shiraz that you wouldn't kick out of bed for farting. They are all approachable and the heavier reds could probably lay down for a few years before coming out to play. The prices are good too $16 - $20 for all wines is a palatable deal. If you buy a case you get two bottles free....so that's just what I did.
Now, the other thing to mention are the two cottages to stay at on the property which are great. Very quiet, clean and spacious, ample kitchen space with everything you could need to make a meal or just to prepare a snack. An outdoor patio and big bbq to enjoy. There are two bedrooms and a lovely big bathroom with soaker tub (love the jets!). So, come down, buy some wines and stay the night, it's a lovely getaway. read more
