The D'Arenberg Cube Osborne Rd McLaren Vale S.A. The D'Arenberg Cube situated in the McLaren Vale wine area, is absolutely so different, it confronts your sensors on several levels. The architecture is different, yet compelling. Walking through inside is well worth the effort with a $10 admission fee, but this includes some excellent wines to sample/taste. We enjoyed a very nice dinner in their well appointed restaurant. (Reservations essential)The service was excellent, even though there were a large number of visitors viewing. A major tourist attraction for South Australia.

I have had the pleasure of going to this restaurant and cellar door a few times . The restaurant has been one of the top locations to eat in Adelaide for a number of years. The food is sublime.. I can recommend the lobster ravioli as entree, the passion fruit soufflé for desert was amazing. The views from the restaurant are beautiful. It's a nice compact restaurant, would make a beautiful treat for a birthday of anniversary.

Absolutely the best wine and winery in the McLaren Vale! If you go on a nice day or during the holidays be prepared to wait a little bit if you want to taste their wines because it's probably going to be buzzing with people. However, once you get to the front of the bar, service is extremely quick and friendly. They let you taste everything you want apart from one wine that sells for around 600 bucks as far as I remember. I recommend trying the Love Grass 2009 Shiraz and the 2008 Shiraz Viognier, both fantastic reds. Overall, they're on the pricey side (depending on what you're after) but the quality is great. They also have a restaurant next door, focusing on French cuisine by the looks of it. It seems to be pretty good and famous because I've heard of it on multiple occasions. Oh, and it's fully booked till April apparently.

My choice. The Mushroom gnocchi. Gorgeous.

We reserved an outdoor table and it was freezing so since it was only two of us, they found a spot for us inside. So grateful. We started with the veal meatballs. They were so good. Loved that we could see the steam come off them when they were brought to our table. I chose the penne pesto and Husband had the spaghetti carbonara. Both were delicious. Loved the dishes they were served on. The food was as delicious as it was beautiful. Service was excellent. We asked our server about favorites and she gave great advice to consider when ordering. We ended up choosing the meals that were perfect for us. We were too full to try dessert but it looked amazing. The wine was also a highlight. They hosted local wines that accompanied the meals very well. Great stop.

Roberto made a charcuterie plate for me at 9.30am before our whole day tour around the island. And they are always there to give you some taste of the wine before you order. The Amadio sparkling wine reserve and the Pinot noir are our go-to wines. The Amadio wines are either from Adelaide hills or kangaroo island, and great value wines. In terms of food, it's much better than the Aurore ozone hotel. The bruschetta is great. If you want lasagna and pizza, come early given that they sell out quickly in the summer.

The cellar door is small but also boasts a private wine tasting area if you are a serious lover of wine. The staff were friendly and insisted that I try a red blend which would have been one of my favourites of the day. Obviously they know far more about wine compared to me! The wines themselves were delicious and when asked the staff were extremely knowledge about their wines which is always a good sign. They explained wine in an easy to understand language and made it simplier for someone who still can't quite comprehend wine matching and will drink just about everything. They have a coffee machine at the cellar door if wine isn't your thing, but let's be honest, isn't wine everyone's thing...

Their logo is a left-handed boxer. They also have a bit of whimsy in their labels with most of the varieties having an association with one or more members of the family. We enjoyed meeting the friendly folks and tasting their great wines. Some of our favorites were Blue eyed boy and carnival although all of the six or so we tasted were great. They have some distribution in the states (unique among the wineries we visited) and a warehouse in California for ordering through a website. We also had a quick peek into the winery itself with a guide. We had to don fluorescent orange safety jackets in compliance with safety regulations even though there was no activity underway in the place. We did get to try some wine in the tanks getting ready for final blending and bottling. Definitely a high point of the six wineries we stopped to visit during our visit to the area.

This cellar looks almost like someone's home. It probably once was and has now been converted into a Cellar door. There is a cute little gas fireplace upon the entry. Check out the photos. Very inviting for sure! It has a very simple layout and tasting room towards the back. Throughout the cellar door you will find cardboard cut outs and posters on display of the various characters and art pieces for the wines. Each have their own story. Be sure to ask about them. There are a lot of wines here to try! So, be sure to set aside a bit of time to try them all. What is first attractive about the wines is the thought and stories attached to the imagery. I am a sucker for cute art, so you won me there! As for the wine, I think my favourite was The Maitre D, Cab Sav. It had a lovely deep berry smell and was quite smooth to drink. Priced right and is my recommendation here. I really wanted to try the Velvet Glove (with a really cool Velvet Label), but it was unavailable for taste. Dang!
