This is my second time visiting Allure Nails and Spa and every visit has been very pleasant. I made the mistake of going to Posh nails around the corner and they just are not up to par in quality of service like Allure. Sure the ambience itself at Posh is more upscale looking but it's really about the service that counts. Rosa has been the one who's taken cared of my services her every time and she does a great job. I get a simple men's pedicure and she gets the job done exactly how I ask for. The location is next to UPS and in the same shopping center as Acme. There's no physical signage with the business name on the exterior of the building but just look for UPS or GNC and you'll find it. For $30 men's pedicure that's a steal. They do ask for cash if you want to tip just an FYI. Appts are recommended but it's been slow during the times I've visited between the hours of Noon and 2pm. read more

I usually don't write reviews but after this horrible experience I have to. Few times I have gone to this place for mani and pedi. The job is ok not the best but ok. However last night I went for first time to wax my legs and this morning my legs were burnt all around my two legs. The person who did the waxing is the Daugther of the owner, who supposed to be very trained (I assumed). During the waxing I told her that the wax was very hot. My family just moved to Jersey City and my teenage daughter has been on the hunt for a local and good nail salon. We'd stopped by a number of places that advertised that they accepted walk-ins (they did not), and finally, we decided to swing by Allure. I'm so glad we did!!! The shop is small and unassuming, with plenty of parking (unlike many other shops in JC). We were immediately greeted and introduced to Jimmy, who went on to completely daughter's French tip acrylic set. He was incredibly friendly and personable, as was everyone in the shop. Not only that but my daughter's nails look fantastic and she is thrilled! This place is now called Allure Nails. I have been going here for about a year now for gel manis and pedis, and have been going to Rosa who has always taken care of me - until Saturday. Rosa gives the best gel mani I've ever had, and for only $25. I usually just walk-in because I don't work a set schedule, so I go when I get a chance. If I have to wait for Rosa because she is busy with appointments, I totally understand. She usually yells at me in a joking way and tells me to make sure I make one. Which is what I did on Saturday. My appt was for 7pm, and I got there around 6:30, expecting I would wait. Wasn't I shocked when I was asked to "go do something and come back at 8pm) all because the person before me came in 30 minutes late for their appt. I put up some fuss, without wanting to cause any sort of scene, and just cancelled my appt and left heartbroken at being treated that way. Rosa, you do one heck of a gel mani - but this is no way to treat your return customers. I will no longer be going back to Allure. read more

I'm a little new to the Jersey City area and have been in search of a nail salon. The various places in JC I've tried did not deliver quality service or professional/polite demeanor. I'm a stickler for these things, as I have worked in customer service for quite some time.... My first time at Karena's Nail Salon & Spa (rt. 440 by Pathmark) was two weeks ago...I'm returning a second time, today. My experience was awesome! The service impressive and the women were polite, engaging, and very professional. My pedicure was thorough and acrylic fill-in was gentle. They had a variety of great-quality nail polish in all colors. The lady who serviced me( I'll be sure to get her name today) made sure that my nails did not lift from the acrylic (as they sometimes do...especially if you wash your hands frequently)...me and a friend of mine even saw a lady drinking a glass of wine during her pedi...talk about spa-atmosphere! The price was about average ($40 for pedi and fill-in) and worth every penny. I'll follow up with a review after today :) read more

I had a pedicure and a manicure here, on separate occasions (not combo). The pedicure was good -- feet looked good and the polish lasted a couple weeks. The lady working on my feet was very thorough with the scrubbing and filing, although she was kind of distracted talking to other technicians. I wasn't too bothered, though, since I had no place to be at the time. Manicure was less satisfactory. I asked the person for a round shape for my nails, and what I got was neither round nor even. Polish didn't go as close to the cuticle as other salons -- it didn't look crappy, but I've had much, much better. Location is convenient for those of us that live out on the West Side of JC. Clean, open space with a nice selection of colors. Walked in both times and had to wait about 10-15 minutes for an open technician. read more

The ladies that work there are so rude. You may not understand the language that most of them speak but they'll MAKE SURE you know that their talking some bad stuff about you lol. Rolling their eyes and not answering you when you tell them something. I asked this one lady for a light pink color cause they only had hot pink colors on the counter and she looked at me, rolled her eyes, and walked out the doorthe rudest moment ever!! Felt real disrespected a kind of in the moment thing. And my toes didn't even come out good. She cut my toe nails crooked and she can't really paint them well. Just go somewhere else read more

I hate to let the "secret" out about this place but they're awesome. And I also hate to let this be known as well, but Kim is great. She was the one who introduced me to shellac and I've never been back to regular polish since. The owner is also very nice and maintains a well-decorated and clean salon, unlike most nail salons in JC. I've been coming to Karena when they were still in the Kellogg St. location. I don't come very regularly, but I haven't been anywhere else to get my nails done since I've started going here. read more

This is located next to the Pathmark and KMart on 440, not by Culver Ave as it was incorrectly marked on Yelp as Karena Nails. I am new to Jersey City and didn't know of any nail salons in the area. I saw this one next to the Pathmark and decided to try it. The inside of the salon is very large, inviting, and clean. I had a basic manicure and pedicure but the woman took great care of me. She did an excellent job. I was in the salon for over an hour but it only cost $30 for both. I walked in and did not have to wait. I will definitely be returning here. read more

I concur with the other comment regarding it being one of the nicest salons in Jersey City. On time with appointments. Clean. Very friendly, English speaking techs. Very attentive owner. Reasonable prices. And I will admit that for selfish reasons, I kind of like that most people I know don't go because of the "neck of the woods" it's in. No problem for me - keeps it less crowded. When you come here you don't simply come to get a mani and pedi or tips on your nails, you come to talk to your therapists and are welcomed in like family. It's much more than a nail salon, the services are very thorough. Always a fantastic selection of nail polishes, and nail services offered. Had to WALK OUT after getting burned from the hot water while getting a pedicure. The person doing my pedicure kept talking and talking and wasnt paying attention to what she was doing. What an experience ! I have stage I degree burn on my left leg ! Had to report it to the owner- who still charged me $20. and just said " oh , its her last day today , a lot of people are complaining about her ". Its the first time i tried this place just because of its location- however , with that kind of experience, will definitely not recommend this place. I have my snapshot to prove my burn :( read more

Don't ever go there for gel color/shellac manicure. I got it and nail polish started chipping after 3 days. I went back to the salon to show owner & he told me to make appt to fix. The soonest I could was actually a week from the day I got them done. By the time day 7 rolled around almost all the nail color was separating from nail bed and they were chipped bad. Anyone that has ever gotten a gel color manicure before knows that it lasts at least 2 - 3 weeks! I came her because it was closer to home. So I got all the nails "fixed" with much attitude of course from manicurist and you could tell she was complaining in her language. I basically told her to take it easy because she was being rough. Very bad service and on top of that they wanted to charge me again! Say what?! They apparently use cheap products and get nasty with customers when you point that out. Needless to say I will NEVER go back there and recommend you try another spot for friendlier service and long lasting gel color. By the way, 3 days after getting nails done for 2nd time, 2 nails have cracks and 1 has already chipped off the corner. Waste of money!! read more

Allure nails and spa is the most unprofessional nail salon iI have ever been to in my entire life!!! I walked in with my mother to get a manicure and pedicure...which by the way is over priced here at $30 dollars. This place has the most unprofessional manager who did nothing but try to degrade me because I am young. He only took my mom to do her pedicure. He Never had the decency to properly explain that he might not be able to do my pedicure. So someone else walks in and they are taken to do a pedicure and suddenly there is not people available to do my pedicure...I waited 20 minutes before being aware of this situation. Then the manager comes by with a cocky attitude and says I can only do a manicure not a pedicure. I proceeded to to explain that he should have let me know about the situation before hand and I could have taken my business elsewhere. He got upset and said that I shouldn't be telling him how to run his business. Clearly he's never heard of how the customer is always right....so steer clear of this unprofessional establishment!!! read more
