Everyone in attendance had a wonderful time crafting (we chose stuffed animal puppies, complete with hearts, collars, and tshirts, as well as lava lip glosses). The store is gorgeous, clean and sophisticated, and the staff that helped the kids craft that day were friendly and knowledgeable. It was also great that the parking lot was nearby and covered (it was raining heavily that day - but we didn't get wet at all!) The location is for this event was Saturday at Michael's Porthole 92 New St. Oceanside, NY. This location is not easy to get to and if you don't have a GPS or a good map you can be lost. Even with a GPS we were a little confused because we "Have reached our destination" but still almost 2 block away and going in the winter time there is no one around on this dead end road to ask for information.Luckily we found Michael's Porthole. The painting area was setup in their large bar room that remind me of a beer garden. The structure is no permanent, a canvas cover roof so it was pretty cold when we arrived. I had to get two cup of hot coffee before I warmed up. I recommend getting here early to get the best seat you can; many of the seats were already reserved for groups. The available open seats were on the ends or sides of the room and the lighting can been good or bad. I prefer a bright spot so I can see better. Before you start go take a photo of the sample painting put up by the instructor so you can look at it at your seat. The Instructor has a headset and walks you through the whole 2-hour event. Two assistants were helping the students and the restaurant staff is always available for drinks and food. Yes, some people were eating burgers and painting at the same time. The whole painting experience was fun! Some people are very good painters and some are there for the fun experience. Check the internet for discounts. ***Note: the locations inside NYC has a surcharge on the Groupon deal. That was why we went out to Long Island instead of locations in Queens.

The instructor was attentive and told all of us that the everything looked good, and he took photos. He stated that the resin would harden in 24 hours. Issue: the resin never hardened. Bigger Issue: We emailed Yaymaker informing them of the issue and we only received an canned response: 'thank you for the email', etc..., with no corrective action or compensation for the poor quality of resin. I cannot recommend this resin coaster event. It was truly a big disappointment! Apparently Yaymaker does not have any customer service integrity and do not stand behind their product.

Dan, the shop owner, patiently and kindly guided us through the process. Dan made us feel at home, and carefully ensured our poster templates were made correctly. Thanks to him our posters came out great despite us being total novices at this. TIP: I would advise you to have some poster ideas before arriving. You will want to spend your time here choosing and arranging your letter templates instead of brainstorming some ideas.

The class was 2 hours long and overall a very fun learning experience to make a tote bag. Not easy imo, but you are taught in a way with demonstrations first prior to attempting to do it on your own, a few steps at a time. I thought the hardest parts were the beginning prior to actually sewing - putting the thread in the machine and setting it up. But I'm sure with experience it becomes second nature. You're given the basics of the machine from the buttons to the different parts and the pedal. Then comes the fun part of actually putting together the tote bag. From sewing the sides to sewing the handles, the instructors were very knowledgeable and helpful! Very delighted to have taken this class, and looking forward to taking more in the future. As someone forever petite (unfortunately), I spend so much time getting clothing altered. Would love to learn more about altering my own clothes.

We received a run down on how the machine works, learned how to thread the machine and how to fill the bobbins. Then we made a denim tote bag. This was super easy and really fast. After lunch break is the 2nd project. If you don't have your fabric, the school can sell you fabric directly inside for $16 a yard. I bought my fabric elsewhere and brought it in. I honestly recommend doing this instead of buying it from them. Because you have to wash your fabric like how you wash your laundry regularly since it shrinks naturally. We picked our patterns and I made a skirt since a skirt is faster than pants. They recommended not to make pockets or else I'll run out of time. But I HAD to add pockets. Women's clothing have little or no pockets regularly. The instructors are extremely helpful and friendly. and they immediately notice if someone is struggling or stuck. This really impressed me. For example, when I was threading the bobbin, the spool of thread was running out. The teacher was immediately behind me with a brand new spool of the same color so I can swap it out when it was finished. That was a great eye for detail! Overall, highly recommend. Just bring in your own 3 yards of cotton fabric, already washed and dried, for the 2nd project!

Due to a last-minute change when our host-instructor became ill, Glen ended up taking on both roles himself, and he handled it incredibly well. He was professional, fun, engaging, and truly saved the evening for us. We couldn't have asked for more from him. There were a few hiccups around the last-minute change and some initial miscommunication, but Fleur ultimately worked with us to resolve everything fairly and provided an appropriate refund for the part of the experience that couldn't be delivered as originally booked. In the end, everything was resolved on a positive note. Most importantly, Glen made the night an absolute success. We had so much fun and would highly recommend him!

I hired Happy Little Brush Strokes as a painting activity for a bachelorette party, and the company was so easy to work with from start to finish. I reserved my date several months in advance because their calendar fills up quickly! You're able to choose one of the paintings from their website and adapt it to what you need. I chose to paint full-sized wine bottles (and place fairy lights inside of the bottle so it lights up!) since the bachelorette party was "wine themed." The price was $30 per person for the experience. I believe if you choose to paint a canvas, it's $25 per person. Happy Little Brush Strokes came all the way out to Greenport, Long Island to do this activity. The instructor, Bob, was an absolute delight, who was filled with so much positive energy! He provided everything we needed for the event (paint, brushes, water cups, the wine bottles, fairy lights). The only thing we needed to provide were tables, table cloths, and chairs for our group of 7. The experience took just over two hours, and everyone had an amazing time!
