I wouldn't insure with Allstate and Steve Dow's office if it were the last insurance company on earth. After being their customer for 4 years, Allstate sent out a "home inspector" and then produced a falsified "inspection report" claiming our roof was "hazardous" and if we didn't replace it, Allstate would NOT renew our home policy. Here enlies the problem: The 20-something year old kid "Home inspector", donned with his Builder Bob hard hat and safety vest purchased at Walmart, rolled up in a black Volkswagen Jetta with NO LADDER and no ability to carry one, proceeded to take pictures of the exterior walls of my 2-story house as I walked the property with him. He poked his camera up on the end of a pole and snapped a few pics of the overhang eaves and NEVER WALKED MY ROOF TO INSPECT. The resulting report I received claimed that the "inspector" did a "ladder lean" to determine the condition of my roof, of which NEVER HAPPENED. I have the report to back up my statement and there are NO pictures from the vantage point of ANYONE standing on my roof contained therein. This report was a flat out LIE, tantamount to fraud as the severity of my roof was based on a falsehood. I called 2 licensed roofers out who actually walked my roof and both independently said, "Yeah, there's some hail dings but you can get at least another 3-5 years out of this roof". Absolutely nothing that rises to the level of "hazardous" that required immediate replacement as Allstate was claiming. When I spoke to Steve Dow regarding this bogus inspection, he brushed it off as "oh, they just made a mistake in checking the wrong box" (regarding the fake ladder lean), stated that Allstate hires third-party inspectors (implying they can't control any of this), I asked for a proper re-inspection and he refused but yet they make policy decisions based on fraudulent home inspections and washed his hands of this (his) problem. I immediately searched for another insurer and promptly cancelled ALL of our policies with Allstate, never to do business with them again. I am in the process of filing a formal complaint with the State of Colorado Insurance Commissioner's office regarding this matter. Buyer beware. read more

I had the opposite experience that Frankie D. had, but her experience was four years ago. Times have changed. When I recently called Steve Dow's office to place a claim, instead of asking me questions and helping me through the process, his staff immediately transferred me to the Allstate corporate claims center. After waiting on hold and then being transferred multiple times via an auto attendant, I finally reached a human being . . . that could barely speak English. When I reached out to Steve's office again, it was the same thing. No customer service. Zip, nada, zero. I don't think they would have given me the time of day had I asked. It was clear that they would rather push a few buttons on a phone and get rid of someone than to engage in conversation with them. Needless to say, I am no longer with Steve Dow. read more

I was a client of the Steve Dow Allstate agency. We tried to cancel our policy, because we were given a much better rate from Liberty Mutual. After multiple attempts to cancel, they continued to withdraw funds from our account. Unlike every other insurance agency they demanded a declaration of insurance from Liberty Mutual. This was sent without any result. I have never had to do this with other insurance companies. They have not returned my phone calls and have not responded to emails. I would strongly caution anyone who is planning on doing business with this agency. read more

I was contacted by Steve's agency about 3 years or so ago with a complimentary insurance review to determine if I was being given the best rates with all of my insurance from USAA. I couldn't believe that Steve, through Allstate, could save me so much money! I have 3 kids (and their cars of course) as well as a home to insure. My savings were absolutely AMAZING! I never thought I'd get better rates than USAA, but Steve proved that Allstate could indeed do better as far as rates were concerned! I saved over well over $1,000.00 per year! Oh, and also, the claims processing experience is very smooth and his office folks are absolutely focused on helping you out when you call them.
