I called before my next payment to try to cancel my policy. I was told I had to come in person to fill out some paperwork. I explained that I have moved to Michigan which is a 6 hour drive and I no longer own the vehicle. The representative told me the only other option I had was to let the payment pass and after a month it will cancel on its own. To my surprise I was charged for the policy a few weeks afterwards. I called and explained my situation. They explained that if I could show proof that I sold my vehicle they could refund me the last payment. I didn't even have proof of payment as I sold it to a stranger as a 3rd party sell. It's not like I received a receipt of the sale. They said I could have send a letter explains I wanted to cancel my policy with my signature!!!!! How the fuck are they going to tell me that when they are emailing me the paper work for me to sign right now!!!!!.... Why the fuck didn't the last agent tell me he could have emailed me the paperwork!!!!! So now this company has taken a payment out of my account when I was told I wasn't in autopay and no refund is available. This whole business is a shit show and I would recommend everyone going to find another insurance company.

    My recent experience with the State Farm office in Addison, under Lusi Garcia, was extremely…read moredisappointing and far below the standard I expect from a company that promotes itself as customer-focused and service-driven. From the beginning, I experienced a consistent pattern of condescending communication, poor listening skills, and a lack of customer-centric mindset from the representative assisting me. Instead of hearing my concerns, he would quickly respond in a way that disregarded what I was actually saying, and he often shifted the conversation back to his own background rather than demonstrating that experience through real support or understanding. This made the situation more frustrating because it felt as if my issue was not being understood or taken seriously. I have been a State Farm client for 11 years, and my parents even longer, yet he made it clear through both his words and his rude body language that this history meant nothing. There was no acknowledgment of loyalty, no appreciation for the relationship, and no willingness to provide the level of help expected from someone in his position. Throughout the conversation, his fixed mindset and personal opinions consistently overshadowed any attempt at real client support, and this pattern repeated itself again and again. What made the experience even more upsetting was his repeated reference to his "extensive experience" and knowledge in the industry. In my opinion, this only made the situation worse. If someone truly has many years of experience, then the expectation should be that they are knowledgeable in their company's processes, trained in proper client relationship management, and able to guide customers through stressful situations with clarity, respect, and professionalism. Unfortunately, that was not the case here. There was no real effort to support me as a client, advocate for my concerns, or explain the process in a way that demonstrated empathy or understanding. A representative with strong experience should know how to actively listen, de-escalate issues, and provide meaningful guidance--not dismiss concerns or respond in a condescending tone. Even though he mentioned they "don't get incentives for approving or denying claims," it is still a business, and every business has metrics and expectations for customer service, compliance, and client retention. Based on my interaction, it seemed he did not fully understand or prioritize these responsibilities. Overall, I left this experience feeling unheard, unsupported, and disappointed that someone in a customer-facing role demonstrated such limited willingness to help. This situation reflects poorly on the office and raises concerns about the level of training and client service being provided. I hope this feedback is taken seriously, as customers deserve respectful communication, accurate information, and representatives who genuinely work in the client's best interest--not simply to get through a conversation or sell a policy.

So, I did something new -- and I got a recommendation from a person on Nextdoor to try John Marino. He's fast on quotes, smart, and he got me a new quote from Erie Insurance on my home, 2 cars, and I even added a personal liability insurance --all this and still less expensive than SF. I'm still amazed at how I added more coverages and am still under the cost of my previous policies (plus added liability). Erie is rated A+ on AM Best -- but they don't have the big advertising budget of other insurances and they only insure in 11 states. So, if you, like me, need an insurance genius to help you figure out your insurance, John is your person! I have to say that if I had apples to apples my insurance, I would have saved $900 but I still saved $400, while adding a ton of extra cool riders to my home & auto and adding the umbrella policy. John Marino also sells other insurances. Try him out! I went through around 4 insurance agents, before I got the recommendation to his company. Save yourself some time, and just go to John Marino now for a quote!

    My wife has had insurance here for going on 8 years. We have filed two claims and they were ok,…read morenothing really good or bad to report. One thing I always found annoying was their lack of an online payment option. They don't mail you your new cards in advance either, so if you are a procrastinator there is no way to obtain instant proof of insurance, other than going into the office during their limited hours. Our 6 month due date has been on the horizon. This place feels it is acceptable to call every single day, and leave a voicemail reminding me that it is time to pay up. They have even resorted to calling two twice per day now! Well, guess what? That backfired really badly because by the third day of this harassment I was inspired to seek out a quote from Progressive. I thought maybe Acceptance's lack of an online payment option had somehow trickled down to me in the form of a discounted rate...WRONG! Not only is Flo giving me a better price, she allows me to obtain e-proof from my cell, print out my cards immediately, and make changes to my policy online. Nothing special in this day and age, but light years ahead of Acceptance.
