This was my first experience buying car insurance on my own (previously I was under my parents' coverage). Allstar's offices are modest, but the staff was nice and seemed like a well-organized group. The whole process was very easy, and Jason, my agent, patiently went over all the different liability options and coverages. He didn't push me to buy anything higher than the state requirements, but own my own I did decide get coverage a bit above the minimum requirements. A couple of weeks later the car wouldn't start agin, the AAA rep came out and put his battery pack on and started the car and let it run. I then drove around doing errands. I didn't drive again for 5 days and when I tried to start the car again AAA towed the car to a mechanic who told me the brand new battery was dead. I am beyond furious. It is impossible to reach a live person anywhere at any phone number with AAA.

When I called to complain, I was told they had a price increase because they switched to a new system, but also they had paid out a large sum of money to me when my car was stolen and was totaled out. So I called around and found another insurance company whose rates were comparable to that of AAA before the unreasonable price increase. For 20 years I remained a loyal customer and then when I needed them because my car got stolen, they increased my rates so much I couldn't afford them anymore. No loyalty to me. No sympathy for my situation. No consideration for the number of years I paid in with no claims. Very matter of fact attitude. They did invite me to come back when I called to cancel my insurance.
