When I relocated to Ohio, got a new job, and a new apartment, State Farm was there for me. I consistently paid on a policy for years through this agency, through this office, and almost 2 years ago was in a car accident that totaled my vehicle. Let me tell you how amazing this office is: I had a rental car within one hour of my accident, I heard from a claims adjuster within two hours of my accident, and I received a check for my totaled vehicle in less than three weeks. If you ever wonder where your money is going when you pay insurance, or if it is worth paying insurance, stop wondering... most especially if you're smart enough to work with this office. After almost 40 years with Farmers, I'm glad to say that I'm moving on…read more For the last few years I've seen a big increase in my rate. Recently I visited Mr. Cappel's office to get his input as to why and to see if Farmers offered any discounts for Seniors, etc.. Mr. Cappel told me that my ISO rating was the item that was hurting my rate. He informed me that it was an "8" probably because of my Firehouse distance from my house and that it was a "volunteer" house, and the distance from my home to my nearest hydrant. The next day I stopped by my local Firehouse. The Chief was not in but the fire fighters on hand informed me that they are not volunteer. They in fact never have less than 3 firefighters in the house 24/7 and as many as 7 at other times. This Firehouse is approx. 2 1/2 miles from my home and my fire hydrant is 150 ft from my home. The next week I stopped back into see Mr. Cappel and informed him of my findings. He showed me my acct and the "8" ISO listing on the screen. I asked him if there could be a mistake in the data entered and his answer was "hey my home is also an "8". I asked if he could check to see how old this data was and he said that it was current. This week I received an email from Fire Chief Davis of Crosby Township. He said that they're my recent ISO review was in 2014 and that Crosby Township was rated a 4/4. That means that I've been over charged for my homeowners insurance for the last 4-years. I should ask for a refund, but after further consideration I feel that I got stuck once by my agent not taking my issue to his corporate office and I wouldn't let that happen again. I'm currently in communication with a better agent with a better offer and will shortly end my long relationship with Farmers. I told him I would be contacting main office about his extreme behavior, he laughed, said go ahead, they wont do anything anyhow. This man needs to be fired or needs major anger management help. After being a lifelong customer (with the majority being with this agency), I have NEVER experienced this extreme incompetency and horrid behavior from agents. Do not go here unless you like to be verbally abused!!! The same day we received a letter stating we were going to be dropped by State Farm because of an insurance payout from our house being robbed in '2016 and then have roof damage from a really bad hail storm in '2020. WTF???!!! I thought that was what insurance was for?! Like a good neighbor State Farm is NOT ON YOUR SIDE!!! State Farm after 30 years and no problems was great. 2 problems in 5 years and they drop you. Not what my family and I expected in a good insurance company. Very disappointed and hurt. I've been with Burkhart Insurance for a little over a year now and so far nothing bad to say!…read more Decided to switch insurance providers last year after a mediocre experience with Allstate and after I heard that rates at local independent agency's were better. So, when it was time to buy a home last year I called around to some independents and got several quotes. Burkhart had by far the most to offer as far as plans and had the best pricing and customer service. I spoke with the owner originally and he helped guide me to the best policy for me. I ended up bundling to save on moola. Fast forward to this year when I got in a auto accident. I received multiple calls from Burkhart and from my insurance provider, Safeco, to not only check on me, but to help guide me through the process. I had many questions and they followed up with answers and really made my life as simple as they could. While I do love dealing with this Agency, let's hope that I have a good year coming up and wont need to call them for anything!
