I've had Bear River Insurance for about 10 years since we purchased our first home. We've bundled…read moreand used them for home and car and have never had to make a claim. We did one chipped windshield repair and that was a little bit of a pain but it did get covered at no cost to us. I called Dangerfield Insurance (the agency we've worked with the last 10 yrs) back in September 2020 to see if they did course of construction insurance as we were going to be building soon. They said they did and we got it all priced out. I called two separate times trying to lock it down. The last time I talked to Bob around beginning-mid October he told me to give his information to our bank lenders and have them contact him. We gave our lender his information at the time of closing which was mid- October because they wanted proof of insurance and that was that. We didn't actually start framing until November the 19th. I called Bob Monday, Nov. 30 to make sure we were covered because I hadn't heard a word. I called and he said nothing was finalized and that he had a open quote or whatever it was called so I asked, "what do we need to do to get insured" and again he told me to give our lenders his info and have them contact him. We did and a day later I believe Bob called me back and said he hadn't heard anything. So I said can we just pay the premium or what do we need to do to get covered but he said he had to talk to our lender. So I said, well do you want me to give you our lenders information and you contact them directly (something that should have happened from day 1). He took their contact info and contacted her and then while talking to her let her know that we can't be insured because we had already started construction. Bob contacted me a day later to let me know that the underwriter said they wouldn't insure us because we had started construction. Nothing to help fix the situation that was entirely not our fault just a sorry but we'd be happy to insure your house once its completed.

We had billing problems straight away, and I have never found Kathy to be a very friendly or helpful person to deal with. I have been moving all of our insurance from State Farm to various "other" insurance companies over the last decade or so. Saving a lot of money in the process. We moved all but our daughters life insurance (we were locked into that one.) As our daughter was closing in on her 26th birthday, and was in no position to take over the policy, we requested that Kathy insure that the policy stay with us. She "looked it over", and assured us that it would stay in our names. Well, guess what? She failed to "look closely enough", and the policy was automatically moved into our daughters name. Even though we contacted her well in advance, and were assured "it would stay set up with us". When we got a letter telling us that it was automatically moved, we were told, "well that is what you set up back in 2012". Even though we JUST spoke to her, and were assured that it wouldn't be transferred. She just kept repeating "that is what was on the paperwork you signed in 2012". Apparently not even acknowledging that we JUST requested something else, and SHE indicated that it was good to go. I would have expected here to let us know if there was a paperwork change being needed. But, nope. Oh well. We now have to jump through hoops, because she dropped the ball. Just sorry I couldn't convince my wife to dump Joel Alba State Farm a couple of decades earlier.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! GO DIRECTLY TO ANYONE ELSE!…read more For several years, I was a client of this insurance "agency," and throughout that time, I was repeatedly lied to and scammed. I am reporting this company to the Utah Insurance Department and any other relevant regulatory bodies where they are listed. I was initially introduced to this agency by my ex-spouse, who already had a policy, and we combined our policies after getting married. For years after our divorce, I was falsely told that it was legally required to carry motorcycle insurance on an inoperable bike. Despite repeatedly arguing that insurance was unnecessary since the vehicle could not be driven--and even threatening to switch to a competitor--they refused to cancel the policy. I ended up paying for this unnecessary policy for six years. No such law exists. I have receipts documenting every conversation, which I am submitting with my formal complaints to the state. Additionally, I inquired whether I could obtain a direct policy with Progressive without going through an intermediary "agent." I was explicitly told this was not possible and that all policies must go through an agency. This was another blatant lie, which I discovered when I contacted Progressive directly to update my address and policy. Since moving to another state, I have learned that everything I was charged for and told up to this point was false. DO NOT, under any circumstances, do business with these crooks.
