Letter regarding the service provided by Electric Quest:…read more I initially called this company because I suspected there was wire damage underneath my manufactured home resulting from when previous companies went under the house to explore the water leak damage. When the electrician came he spent several hours fiddling around with the electrical panel and testing the outlets throughout the home, but he refused to don the white Tyvek type suit that all tradesmen wear when they come to do work under these type of homes. He said the work had to wait until the floors were torn up in order for him to do his job properly. That is entirely not true and if he couldn't do what he was asked to do in the first place, he never should have come to my home. The company should have either refused the job or sent someone that was willing to go underneath my home to see if there was in fact damaged wires under the home. Instead of doing the job properly, the electrician decided to rig an alternative form of supplying electricity to one section of my home where the outlets were not working by connecting a wire from a light-switch and run it down the wall, along the floor, then hook up a box in front of an existing non-working outlet. I did not agree with his solution to fixing the electrical problem in my home, but I was too exhausted to debate the situation with him. I figured he must know what he was doing. So, when he was finished with the job, I paid him, asked him for his supervisor's name, and he went on to his next job. Later that day, I found out I still didn't have power to my kitchen island, which was also part of the job I had paid him to fix! I took pictures of his work and showed it to friends who told me that what he did didn't look like it was a legal way of doing things and that it did not look safe. I don't know if it is up to legitimate safety standards according to The International Electrotechnical Commission, but every contractor and handyman that has been to my house and looked at it has told me that it does not look legal. I also found out that he had cut my light-switch plate damaging it in order to attach the wire and he cut the wallpaper outside of the light-switch and cut a deep hole into the drywall that will need to be repaired once the electrical wiring is repaired by by a proper electrician more capable of doing the job correctly. I do not have wallpaper to match the area that he damaged. I contacted the company and tried to get a refund from them or to get them to come out and fix it properly and they refused to do so. The office manager would not even let me speak with the supervisor of the electrician that came to my home. Her excuse for him not going under the home was that it was "too dangerous, because the floor was falling down." That statement is completely false, the floor is not falling down, the vapor barrier had been cut to let the water out and some of the insulation was hanging down a little, but none of the floor is falling down. The only thing that would make going under the home dangerous, in my opinion, is if the electrical wires that needed to be checked under there were live and if this qualified licensed electrician neglectfully did not turn off the power to all electrical lines going to the home, which, being a qualified, licensed electrician, you would think would be highly unlikely to happen, at the risk of being redundant, it would only make sense that he would turn off all of the circuit breakers prior to going underneath to inspect the wires, thereby eliminating any potential risk of electrocution danger! So, that statement doesn't hold up as fact that there was any danger to him going under the home to inspect for damaged wires. After several tries of calling to speak with the supervisor, I found that my calls were no longer going through on any of their advertised phone numbers. It seems, they blocked my phone number so I could no longer even try to call for the supervisor. What kind of company blocks people's numbers, refuses to let customers speak to the supervisors when there it a situation with an employee, and allows their worker to go to someone's home and do everything, but what they were sent over there to do and then takes their money? I do not recommend hiring Electric Quest, Appliance Quest, or Cool Quest, any Quest company, the same office manager answered the phone for all of their phone numbers. If anyone has any suggestions as to how I can get my money back from this company, I would love to hear about it. Thank you.

However, we learned later that the drywall professional who was next in line to work on our previously flooded house was unable to start his work of putting up new drywall because both the rough-in and the trim work by the electrician had already been completed. Not having an electrician license, the drywall professional told us that the electrician should be called to undo the final trim work after the drywall had been installed and that all electricians know that it is a two-step process when there is drywall to be installed. The call was made to ElectricQuest and Kurt informed us that it is not his responsibility to come back out without charging an additional amount of money to undo what he had done. He said that the drywall person should be able to take care of that himself and reconnect all the outlets himself. The ElectricQuest receptionist agreed and verified on a recorded line that it doesn't matter who messes with the electrical work after they have completed their job - their company is fully licensed and insured and assume the liability for the initial warrantied work that they completed. This has really put us, the senior-aged clients, in a precarious position. We cannot or should not have to take on this project ourselves, but it's either that or spend another $700 with ElectricQuest after we have already paid them $4555.00. My question is: Are there any drywall installers who agree with this and are accustomed to removing outlets and replacing them as they put on new drywall? Who is right and who is wrong here? Good, honest electrician…read more I live in a house built in 1956--a certified classic Florida block home. Second house built on this street, in fact. Back then, the electrical in homes was not grounded and because the fine folks who lived here never updated ANYTHING, the house has zero 3-pronged electrical plugs. Take a look at your electric belongings, and you'll see that many of them required a grounded outlet. Enter Peter Lontakos Electrical. Called the guys on late Friday and they came out first thing Tuesday. The job only took about 30 minutes. The service rep, David, was super friendly and cleaned up before he left. I replaced one regular 2-slotter from 1956 and added a brand new outlet in the kitchen, which required some cutting and drilled. Total price was less than$125. Well worth it because now I can plug in more than two items in the kitchen. I've got a few more electrical wants to check off of my wish list, and I will definitely be calling these guys. I know what you're thinking. These aren't extremely difficult tasks, so why didn't you do them yourself, Mark? No way, José. People should know their limitations, and I drawn the line at everything that involves electricity and live wires. I'm not getting sizlle-fried and ending up on that million ways to die show. Somethings are best left to the pros.

Kevin Gonzalez is not listed as an electrician or an electrical contractor nor does he have any license of any sort. I hired him to do an inspection of my home that is for sale, which he did. I specifically asked if he was a licensed electrician, and he said yes, however, after I paid him, he could not provide me or the inspector with his license number I have reported him to the state and to the local authorities. He is not answering phone calls or email messages. BEWARE!
