A couple of years ago they helped me with a major electrical issue, and today Casey and his partner came back out to replace a faulty GFCI outlet in my garage. Not only did they quickly diagnose and fix the problem, they also took the time to correct a few additional issues and make sure everything was safe and up to code. Their workmanship and attention to detail were excellent. What really stood out to me, though, was their professionalism. They remained patient, courteous, and respectful throughout the entire visit, even while dealing with a challenging and distracting environment. A lot of people would have become frustrated or short-tempered, but they handled everything with grace and maturity. It's rare these days to find contractors who are both highly skilled and genuinely professional people. I've used these people three times that I can think of. Today was installing new light fixtures on deck and porch. I called one day before my appointment and they told me they can get someone there the next day. They offered between 1-5pm window. Lo and behold I get back home at 1245 and there was the van waiting patiently nearby. The electrician (Jeremy) pulled out his tablet, went over what we wanted done and quoted me a price. We went ahead and he got right to work. He ripped out all three extant fixtures and put in new ones plus bulbs. He was done in less than an hour too. It required rewiring and connecting the new stuff to my electrical, of course. As far as their service goes, they called me back right after we hung up and offered me an appointment for an hour later the same day! Anyway, Jeremy was there before the start of the window and was ready to go as I stated earlier. Very nice, polite fellow too. One extra thing to say here about their service...I received an email detailing who was gonna show up, that I would be called before he showed up...That email contained Jeremy's photo and credentials with verified background check (it comes with a QC code for proof). Beyond that, their website offers online scheduling too. What actually happens is that one's request for service gets sent to their office. They say they shall respond soon with a call or an email...they called me straightaway Monday morning to get things set up. Their site offers different categories of service from which to choose, along with "coupons" for discounted service charge. Since their normal service charge is a bit steep: take what you can get. They also send printed coupons to their customers for "free" service charge. Too bad I didn't see I had one, f***ing fool that I am! All in all I'm quite pleased with what I received in terms of service and punctuality. To be honest, the quote of just over $400 was kinda shocking to me (no pun intended). Service requested: Replace all electric wall outlets and electric panel switches to meet current code requirements. Quality of work completed: There were issues with both the work product and invoicing that were ultimately resolved to my satisfaction by bringing in another team to finish the job. Value: I felt I the job was overpriced and should have gone more smoothly. Rating: 3-stars. We needed some electrical work done around the house including the following: Hard Wiring and Installing our Ring Doorbell, Installing a Nest Thermostat, Adding a new 4 prong outlet for our Washer and Dryer, swapping out our ceiling fans with a light fixture and installing some USB/Power Outlet boxes. Whew. Those tasks took several hours over the course over a few days but kudos to Brandon as he busted his butt to get the job done. He mentioned he's from Detroit so he's used to getting dirty and working hard. I loved that. Also, kudos to him as he corrected an installation error and came back to fix it at 9pm on a Saturday night! We'll have more work for RRE in the future and will request to work with Brandon. When a new hot water heater was installed at our home, the circuit breaker kept tripping. Red Royal came to check and determined that the new water heater could be set back to be the same as our old one, using the same amount of power. To run a new line would've cost over $1,000. The electrician suggested contacting the plumbers to change the settings on the heater. He could've said nothing and gotten us to put in new electrical equipment, but he was HONEST. We will undoubtedly use Red Royal for all our future needs, and will recommend them to everyone we know! read more

Very Expensive, Charged $250. to write a quote for a new breaker panel and new wire from the meter box to the panel. Charged $7200. Buried the Aluminum wire (NOT EVEN COPPER) wire without conduit which is to code. The guy was saying how he can't poll a permit because there's alum wire in the house, then he uses Alum wire for the main breaker because it's cheaper then Copper. Cost: Aluminum wire is typically 3-4 times less expensive than copper wire. Conductivity: Copper is a better conductor of electricity than aluminum. read more

I scheduled a service call after a lighting strike that caused damage to several appliances. The tech showed up and inspected then service panel then changed a damaged outlet. He said it would good idea to check out the remaining appliances and I agreed. After he checked the range and AC condenser he asked where is the air handler. I told him the air hander is in the attic so he went back to van and got a ladder. He climbed up in the attic was up there for a few minutes then shook the air handler back forth abruptly. The next day water was dripping through the drywall ceiling onto the garage floor. BEWARE, he charged $382.00 for about an hour of work and caused THOUSANDS of dollars worth of damage to working AC unit. read more

I highly recommend Red Royal Electric if you have any electrical issues. We had a storm come through and lost power to multiple outlets on one side of our house. We called and explained the situation, and were told someone would be there in about an hour. Around half an hour later, a Red Royal Electric van pulled up. The electrician, Matthew S. Introduced himself, and we explained the issue. He explained how the wiring may be the issue, but that he would investigate and find the source. He did find the source, and it was under the house. There was an outlet from the original construction that had rotted and fell apart into the outlet box that was filled with particle board shavings. So Matthew S. And Red Royal Electric saved us from a potential electrical fire. I can't thank Matthew S.( who is extremely professional, and knowledgeable) and Red Royal Electric, enough. Make sure to call them for any electrical issues, upgrades, or just an inspection. Their service went above and beyond and their prices are VERY reasonable. read more

When the men arrived today, it became a $349 charge to diagnose along with a $49 service charge to come out. The men were nice; however I asked them to leave. Whoever I spoke with initially did not give me an honest estimate of the cost of diagnosing and I refuse to work with misleading companies. read more

the good: they were about 30 minutes early. which if we were out would not have been good but my husband was waiting. they were fairly responsive. 3 others responded before them. I chose them based on outstanding reviews. the not so good: the gave an estimate of $500+ for installing one track lighting bar in the bathroom. We did 90% of the work already. But it did not turn on. We had the track facing the wrong way. An expensive lesson. But we accepted the quote thinking there was something seriously wrong with the wiring or something in the house. So the quote was for this anticipated work. 15 minutes later the tech said oh the track end was facing the wrong direction. So we paid $500+ for the tech to basically tell us we cannot follow the directions that came with the lighting kit. So, yes, we accepted the quote. We paid for 15 minutes worth of "analysis". Like I said, an expensive lesson. I was disappointed that good faith business did not occur. I think the tech should have said "since I did not have to go all this other work I will charge you only$X. But he did not. So an expensive lesson for us but a costly practice for royal. I have three other projects ahead of me but I will not be using them for any other work. and I certainly will not recommend them to others. It may not have been dishonest exactly but it did not feel right. $500 for 15 minutes? Not even my doctor or lawyer charges that. read more

We just moved to the St. Pete's area and had Red Royal Electric come in an do an estimate for replacing our Breaker box...Chad came in and explained what needed to be done, no pressure selling, just the facts. Also, came in at a competitive Price. We also had 2 other quotes as well from other Companies. What we liked about Chad was that he gave us his cel num and was reachable even after the project was done to answer questions. He didn't just get the sale and disappear. Red Royal sent Brandon and Cesar to do the job which took 5 hours to complete..TOTAL PROS...they actually finished ahead of schedule. It was a big job because they also had to cut the wall as the corrosion was really bad. Brandon also took our calls to inquire abt job Progress and timing. EVERYONE at Red Royal was SUPER helpful. Even the Lady at the front of the Office on Drew Street who did our Notary for the inspection (can't remember her name now) was attentive and worked fast. She was very friendly and personable with a good sense of humor. She took the time to explain our service options, and was most helpful in scheduling our service appointment. We immediately were impressed that it appeared she enjoyed her job and the company, so that helped to earn our business. Today, Brandon Phipps was the electrician who came to our home. We appreciated his sending a text message as a reminder of his visit, and followed it up with a phone call to let us know when he would be arriving - at the time he told us he would be here. Years ago I personally installed a bunch of Z-Wave switches in my house that worked via bluetooth with my security system. When one of the light switches the system controlled stopped working, just changing out the switch wasn't enough. It was either multiple switches or some other kind of electrical glitch that was above my pay grade. Even after Googling it I could not figure out the problem. Enter Red Royal Electric. It's very comforting to turn over a seemingly difficult problem to someone who understands it so well they are able to repair it without hesitation. I wanted to use my own type of switches so they gave me time to order what I wanted and came back when I called them without an additional service call fee. I was treated by both the office and the electricians that did the work like we were old friends and the bill was more reasonable than expected. Knowledgeable, efficient, friendly and clean. DISCLAIMER: I did not use this company for work. I only communicated with them through the Yelp quote process. Regardless, they were quick to respond but when I ask for an estimate (after a very detailed description of my issue), their only response was for me to setup an appointment. They wanted to come out and charge me when I had no idea if this would cost $10 or $1,000. There was no info about a service fee or any other fee. This is a red flag for me. Just charge me a "check it out" fee and, ideally, put it towards the final bill. I don't appreciate companies that just assume you'll pay whatever they feel like charging. Caveat Emptor! read more
