We couldnt be happier with the staff and the vet, that took care of us today. Our kitty, Butterscotch has been having some issues, with UTIs, he had an appointment today. On the way there, Butter got sick and pottied on himself. The staff gave him a bath, cleaned up his carrier, he got in quickly, was seen by the vet quickly, checked out quickly. I took my Mothers dog in to have it groomed. Before doing so, a quote of 35 to 50 dollars was given to my mother. When I picked the dog up, the young lady told me it would be 60 dollars. I told her that they had quoted 35 to 50 dollars. Her response was the dog had mats which would be 10 dollars more. I am no genius but it seems like the quote should have been 35 to 60 dollars depending on the condition of the dog. They should have stuck to their quote. No apology for their misquote. As far as the grooming, it was groomed. Looked good. Piss poor business practice. This is the second time they have pulled the bait and switch on her with their grooming department! read more

We have taken 3 dogs, 2 puppies & a stray cat to Allphin. All were treated with respect & kindness, even the stray that unfortunately had to be put down. We also had to put down one of our puppies after several months of attempts to resolve a bladder issue that was discovered during an exploratory surgery to be a birth defect causing major issues inside. Both times the vets were very kind, gentle & reassuring. After our pup was put down, we received a note of sympathy in the mail with her footprint inside, which brought me to tears. So unexpected, but the very essence of how this clinic treats all animals! W have seen Al the vets there & all of them are wonderful! We recommend this ver clinic to everyone! I used to love this clinic and recommended them to everyone . Years ago they helped me when it was time to say goodbye to my old dog, and they handled the new puppy after that with so much love and care. They were obviously excited to see my husky pup and clearly enjoyed him whenever I had to bring him in. However, I would not recommend this place ever again and I'll never go back. I had an appointment in August for my cat who had gotten sick and wasn't eating or drinking well. They did some tests but it was their last appointment on a Friday and they were obviously trying to get us gone so they could leave work. They didn't not find what was wrong with him and didn't care. We took him home and gave him the meds they prescribed for things they weren't sure he even had. He continued to deteriorate and it became clear he would not come back from whatever was wrong. So I tried to make an appointment to have him euthanized and couldn't get through on the phone. Since I was driving by I stopped in to make an appointment in person. The lady at the desk asked what I needed and trying not to cry in front of her I got a few words out. She told me I'd need to wait to make an appointment until she got other people checked in. Finally I made the appointment and she was super apologetic for my wait. Then she says there's nothing they can do because of staffing. So I found another place to take him who confirmed my worst fear that he would not make it. The woman from Allphin called to ask about the appointment I had made for a future date and I told her no he died after she turned me away and after they didn't want to help him when he still had a chance. She said I could've taken him to the emergency vet. I'm sorry but we were in their office to get him help, why would we take him elsewhere when I made an appointment there and came to it and paid them almost $500 for care that did nothing before they shoved us out the door so they could go home for the weekend? read more

I took my dog there on March 25 to get two shots. one for her knee annd the other for allergies. The morning of the 26 Chloe woke up lethargic, vomiting, and diarrhea. I stated calling the vet at 11:00 it took me 5 phone calls to get through it keep going to voice mail. finally I got through and told them that Chloe was sick. She said someone would call me back that afternoon. Bye 3:30 Chloes diarrhea was severe and I called them again. This time I told them she had to come in and I was on my way. The girl said they were totally book and so were all their emergency appointments that they charge almost twice for. she said I could see a vet tec. I bought Chloe in and the vet tec named Adree Nicole said all she could do was give her a probiotic. I tried to explain that she could not hold down a probiotic because she was throwing up. Then I told her she needed some meds for throwing up she stated that she could not give her that that she would have to see a vet. I told her that that would be fine. She said no Vet was available. I tried to explain to her that Chloe got sick after they gave her the shots and she had a heart problem and gallbladder problem. She said that there was nothing that she could do could but gives probiotics. That's all she was going to do for her and then told her if they refuse to see my animal after making her sick I would have no choices, but to file formal complaint she left the room and came back with my file and asked me to leave. I had to take my poor sick dog to the emergency room last night where they gave her a water pack and three shots for nausea and vomiting. She only weighed 11 1/2 pounds, now she's down to a little less than 11. She was very very sick. The office manager called me today and tried to smooth things over but as far as I'm concerned, this is medical malpractice. Doctor Sexton refused to see my dog that got sick after his shots. I'm not saying that this was an intentional thing everyone makes mistakes and not everyone knows how everyone's going to react but refuse medical help after one of your patients gets sick is malpractice take your dog to this vet at your own discretion. The Clinic Manager took her side, did not believe us....like we are going to make up stories?Unfortunatley DON'T go to this Clinic, we love the Vets, we don't appreciate being doubted....we are older people... We are traveling and our 13 year old dog had something going on with her eye. When I called to see if she could be seen they didn't have any openings for two days. We were going to be gone by then. They squeezed her in today (same day). The vet who treated her was very caring, tender and was sincerely comforting to our girl. Dr. Bumberry did a thorough exam of her eye and created a treatment plan. Don't let her age fool you, she is smart and really on the ball. It was a ulcer I have never known about this and am glad we took her to Allphin. The lobby was clean and the patient areas were clean as well. Even the nurse assistant was also good. She explained everything really well and demonstrated how to use the medicine. Our dog even had a room with a view. read more

I rarely write negative reviews but really feel compelled to write this to warn other pet owners about Allphin veterinarian clinic. Please do not put yourself or your pet through this experience!!!!! What a terrible, unprofessional, heartbreaking experience! My elderly mom and dad made a difficult decision to put their longtime pet of 14 years to sleep. I went with my mom because my dad just couldn't face it. I sadly have experience with having to put a furry family member to sleep and k ew I could help my mom. I thought I knew what to expect. Clearly, all vets are not created equal. The first thing I noticed was the lack of compassion exhibited by the techs. They started in with a list of questions about whether she wanted an IV or a catheter, as if we were there for a rabies shot or something routine. I suppose it was routine for them, but definitely not for my mom. It would have been nice to have received a word of encouragement and compassion. Even a simple , "We know this is a difficult time for you," would have gone a long way. We weren't given any options for sedation. In my experience the pet is always given something to relax them first. They immediately shaved the dog's leg and inserted the catheter, which clearly caused pain. It took two techs to hold the dog down as the catheter was inserted. This was just the beginning of the trauma. The real difficulty began when the vet injected a saline solution into the catheter. My poor mom had to watch as her best friend whimpered and cried out in pain. The vet even said, "This can't be in the vein." I insisted upon a sedative shot at that point, which was provided. The vet then continued using the same catheter, knowing all along that it wasn't working properly. She injected the medicine that puts the dog to sleep into the same catheter. The poor dog cried, stood up (even though she was sedated) and threw up because the pain was so severe. This was just heartbreaking to see! We wanted to end her suffering, not make it worse! And then we waited for her to pass. She didn't. The catheter was not inserted into the vein and both injections were sent under the skin with all the nerve endings. Poor baby! And my poor mom. It was almost more than she could take. The vet left us in the room with the dog for awhile. We consoled the dog as best we could. This entire process lasted close to an hour. One long, heartbreaking hour putting your pet to sleep. Finally the vet returned, shaved the other leg, gave another injection and the dog finally passed. My mom received no explanation, no apology and no discount on her bill. And to make things even worse, we carried the dead dog back home for burial in a packing box. There wasn't even enough respect from this vet clinic to provide a suitable wrapping or box. No note or word of sympathy was offered. Putting a pet to sleep is the hardest decision to make. Pet owners deserve caring and compassion from their veterinarian. No one deserves what my mom and her beloved dog went through. I can't warn you enough about this vet. read more

We have been taking our animals to Dr. Allphin for 20 + years we have watch his practice grow from the start. Dr. Allphin is and always has been very caring and loving to all my past and present Animals. From our Horses, goats, Dogs and a few cats in the past, to our Dogs in the present. I only stop taking my Horses to Dr. Allphin because he doesn't do farm calls anymore. We use a vet in Ozark for them, because they still to farm calls, its not always easy to take a horse that's down to the vet. Our current dog April was dump at our parents house she doesn't like anyone most likely she was abused, it takes a long while to earn her trust, She growls at all adults that approach her. The first time we took her to Dr. Allphin she growled at him Dr. Allphin just talk to her and lovingly examined her, April is know 13 years old & I am amazed that she lets the staff at the office love on her like she does. About a year ago April was diagnosed with diabetes, its been up & down for the last year to get her sugar levels under control. We have never had this happen before, Dr. Allphin & his staff are very supportive and helpful thru it all. April's sugar is finally under control we have learned how to judge her insulin based on how she acts. April still has to go in once a month for blood test. I trust & respect Dr. Allphin & his staff they have always been loving and kind to my Babies, even in the hardest situations like in the past when we have had to make the difficult decision to let our beloved animal to rest. Tried Allphin because we just moved to town. The staff seemed to change frequently in the 5 months I took my dog there. Most of the receptionists & vet techs were cold, indifferent, and rude. Always a long wait. The final blow came when Dr. Allphin gave my 12 year old dog a rabies vaccine that caused a severe, rabid reaction. At that advanced age, the vet shouldn't have encouraged giving the shot, at all. It made the last 6 months of my beloved dog's life miserable. He went blind several days after the shot. He woke up panting, pacing & whining every night for the next 6 months. I reported the adverse reaction to the Federal Drug Admin. and American Vet Association. Allphin's vet tech promised to follow up & report it, also, so that particular batch could be tracked. She never did & never called me back. A sad, disrespectful end for a wonderful pet. read more

After taking my dogs there awhile, the doctor assured me he could do for me what Columbia MO University did for me when they saved my dogs life because of a condition she had. She was only 5 and I trusted him, and so so so so sorry I did. My dog died in his care. A terrible death too. First went blind and she was so scared. The lady took him back and I wanted to go with her cause she didn't know what was happening. The man beside me looked at me and said, "are you going to let them treat you like that"? I said, "no, thanks..." and I followed them in regardless. They kept her overnight and she died. Alone. No one was with her. I'm still grieving, it was terrible! Ive also heard SEVERAL reports that he should be a large animal doctor only, because he doesn't treat them with respect. On May 16, 2018 I took my eleven year old Miniature Schnauzer to Allphin Vet Clinic in Branson West, MO for her annual checkup and shots. She was examined by Dr. Owen Allphin who recommended she have her teeth cleaned as she had tartar build up and one loose tooth. Upon his recommendation I returned with her on May 24, 2018 for this dental cleaning appointment. During the pre-dental discussion I had with the vet tech I made sure she had my telephone number in case there were any concerns I needed to be notified of during this procedure. I returned at 4:00 P.M. to pick up my dog and the receptionist looked up my dog on her computer and stated, "oh, poor girl. She had to have five teeth pulled." At this point I asked her to get my dog and was told to sit in the waiting room because they were not finished calculating my bill. Approximately thirty minutes later I was called up to the desk and the vet tech that did the cleaning informed me that my dog did have to have five teeth pulled and since six others were loose they were pulled as well! When I expressed my shock and dismay about them pulling ELEVEN teeth and NOT contacting me before pulling that large number of teeth, she merely stated that dog teeth are unlike human teeth and she did not seem to be in least bit concerned nor empathic. She will be fine was the young lady's comment. The next day I spoke to my groomer who has been grooming my dog for over three years in addition to having personally been employed as a veterinary technician. She agreed with me that having ELEVEN teeth removed was absurd as she was quite familiar with my dog. Her comment to me was, "she did have a bit of tartar but her teeth were not that bad and she certainly did not need to loose that large number of teeth. It has now been over a week and my dog has not returned to her normal playful self. She is having difficulty eating and her play habits are greatly diminished. I am beyond upset with Allphin Vet Clinic for their failure to advise me of the possibility that my dog may need to have ELEVEN teeth removed and then doing so without ANY concern or compassion for my dog's future quality of life. It appears to me this is a business that is ONLY concerned with making money instead of enhancing the quality of the life of a dearly beloved pet! I will never return and will ensure everyone I know with an animal is fully aware of this profit hungry enterprise!! read more

We had and emergency with our puppy while visiting Branson and needed an exam and medical care for him. The clinic was able to work us in the day I called and treated us with courtesy, compassion and respect when we arrived. Our pup was seen promptly, information was taken, lab work and treatment were provided and everything was explained clearly, then instructions were provided in writing. I was very pleased and would recommend this clinic. We would choose it as our regular clinic if we lived here. read more

As a weekender at Branson and owner of an aging pet I called Allphin to check schedules "in case" I needed them. Little did I know I would be squeezed in as an emergency call later that day. I was very impressed with the staff and facilities. They were very thorough, identified the problem quickly and had us on our way home shortly .I was pleasantly surprised by my bill as it was less than my small St. Louis vet. This is the worst clinic I have ever been to. I trusted them to spay my cat and take care of her for the 4 days we left her there. My mom went to pick her up on Friday to find her smelling horrible.. My mom asked for a shot for pain before the cat left so she would be comfortable. Everyone kept telling her she got it, she got it. I read the bill and there was no pain medication except for the day she was spayed. She stayed at that clinic for 4 days. Next no technician gave her discharge instructions. So we called back to the clinic asking if she had gotten any pain medication that day. No one was able to tell us if she did, which should never happen with a surgery patient. I do not expect a vet to give discharge instructions, as in all the clinics I have ever worked at its always been us technicians. So she took her home and she had bloody diarrhea near her rear with a huge knot on her hip. Called the clinic and they said it was probably just a reaction from the vaccines. Monday came and she could not move, couldn't hold her head up and wouldn't eat. So we took her into the clinic that day and they ran yet another $300 worth of tests just to say I don't know what your problem is. So they drew blood and had a red blood cell count of 10. Normal is 20-40. My parents should not have had to force feed the cat and force feed medicine because the veterinary practice was lax in their monitoring and diagnosing. I WOULD NEVER TAKE ANOTHER PET THERE AND I WOULD NOT RECCOMEND YOU DOING IT EITHER. We also took our Rottweiler in for vaccines just to find out they forgot vaccines for him in when we left. I was not down there as I live in Kansas city but he is my dog. I have worked for veterinary clinics for 8 years. Never have I experienced the kind of attitudes that I had with this one. Everyone I talked to when I called the clinic acted as if I was annoying them and I wasn't worth their time. Well I'm sorry I wasn't worth your time while my cat was dying. So a huge thank you Allphin Veterinary Clinic you killed a 2 year old cat with a spay. NEVER go there. read more
