We had a lot of fun watching (and filming) as Dr. Obayashi expertly swaddled and calmed my son down, who was crying, He had us film his swaddling technique for future reference, and my son ended up sleeping through his ultrasound. Our local pediatric hospitalists could not figure out why my daughter had prolonged pneumonia. Only Dr Obayashi correlated her heart condition with her illness. This prompted us to start the process for considering surgery. ENT, Gl, and pulm were doubting why we would take a "healthy" child and proceed with surgery. Only Dr. Obayashi listened to my concerns and my daughter's symptoms seriously. The other specialists wouldn't even recommend the triple scope. It was not until I insisted on the triple scope that the 3 other specialties saw what Dr Obayashi was describing the entire time. He was correct and was a true advocate for his patient. He gives good recommendations on how to improve your health, and he's good about only writing you a prescription when it really is needed (meaning... no antibiotics unless an antibiotic is needed). My only complaint is his tardiness to appointments. I got used to it after a few years. Even though I booked the first appointment of the day, I'd often have to wait at least 30 minutes for him to arrive. Eventually I got smart about it and called the office 5 minutes prior to my appointment time to see if he was going to be on time that day. I really like and trust Dr Wong. A lot. I would like to remain his patient for years to come. However I learned this week that his billing department wasn't able to get him qualified to accept Anthem Blue Cross EPO insurance purchased thru Covered CA (processed as "Pathway EPO"... it's printed in tiny print at the bottom of the Anthem BC insurance card). Mind you, the Anthem Blue Cross website says he is already authorized to accept this insurance, but when you show up for your appointment you will be greeted at the front desk and told they don't accept Anthem Blue Cross thru Pathway EPO. Today I was told they probably aren't going to make any additional effort to get the contract issue resolved so it seems I will need to find a new PCP. :(

He is completely up front and honest when detailing your current health status and upbeat and encouraging when letting you know how to become A HEALTHIER you!! He is soft-spoken and intelligent when explaining a problem or condition, and when you walk out of his office, he gives you a copy of the "Visit Sheet" that details your appointment. I always feel informed when I leave his office. Dr. Wong always goes the extra mile for his patients. He is great about touching base with your other health care providers. Many years ago, when my father was in the hospital after a heart attack, Dr. Wong stopped by to check on him early every morning, and he kept in touch daily with my dad's cardiologist. He really is such a blessing!! He is absolutely THE BEST!!
