Mikula was the largest company and I located them with a Google search. The other two contractors I found by word of mouth. Mikula's estimate was the most competitive and once they started the job they worked continuously to completion. They demolished a 4500 square-foot house with concrete basement, a four car garage with attached clubhouse and an in-ground reenforced concrete, swimming pool. The operators of the excavating equipment were highly skilled and easy to communicate with at all times. Scheduling was accomplished through office personnel who were very knowledgeable and responsive. There were no glitches in the entire operation--from estimating the job to obtaining permits to completion. In fact, the quality of the work was so impressive, I hired Mikula to build a rock wall around the perimeter of a pond on my property and install a French drain to divert surface water. This second job was completed in 2 1/2 days and the results were impressive. This is a company that has earned its reputation for excellence and the machine operators and laborers obviously take pride in their work. Plus, Mikula owns most of the equipment used on the job--excavators, dozers, skid steer machines dump trucks and trailers - -so the company is not dependent on others to get the job done. I highly recommend this company. John Collins Livingston, NJ

Stay very far away from this bait and switch tactics company. They really botched an asphalt…read moredriveway and walkway at my house. They refused to correct the defects and now I am left to sue them in court. I made the big mistake of paying them during the job even though the promise was no payment until finished. They took my money and never finished the job. I can't even open my door to get out of the house because the driveway was paved too high. So many problems and they just disappeared. I warn you that you need to stay away as they have really poor workmanship, demeanor, and don't stand by their promises. Update #1 - I filed my lawsuit today against them as well as a complaint with the department of consumer affairs for numerous violations. I will update as things happen but so far nothing from the contractor to address any of the problems. If this were not a serious problem I would not be going thru all of this Update #2 - about to get my court judgment against them for failing to defend; will not be long now before they lose their license

They bait…read moreand switched us - quoted us a price for a concrete driveway, then said they didn't realize it was concrete and it would be many thousand dollars more when it was too late for us to hire someone else before winter. They had the plans and permits, so not sure how they made that "mistake." They also did a terrible job. They made our curb opening way too high (so high my car's front sensor goes off every time I pull in because it thinks I'm going to hit something), and over poured it leaving a sloppy mess. Our new concrete also has holes in it. Tony also told us that we didn't need belgium blocks along the apron and so he didn't install them. He was wrong, and our driveway now won't pass inspection. When we asked Tony to fix it he avoided our phone calls for months, blocked my husband's phone number, and then demanded an additional $2,000 to fix his own mistake. He also accused us of threatening him for "free work" when we asked him to come fix it. Truly unprofessional, rude, and terrible experience.
