I stood outside of Sweet Thrills on Saturday, August 15 and, to my disappointment, they were…read moreclosed. As I was peeking through the window, a nice lady unlocked the store and let my buddy and I inside. She turned on all the lights and let us roam the store; needless to say I was in shock but extremely happy that she welcomed us in. It's not very common for anybody to open up their store after hours, let alone provide the type of service we were about to receive. I told the young lady that I wanted to put together a gift basket for my girlfriend. Without hesitation, she walked us around the store showing and explaining some of her confectionary goodies. After loading up on about $80 worth of candies from my childhood, the US and even some rare gems from the UK, she packaged everything up in a nice mini crate and cellophane. My buddy and I must have been in the store for half an hour and she was pleasant the entire time - the gift basket she made was beautiful. My hat goes off to Sweet Thrills and to the young lady working that day (I wish I caught her name). This place is a must visit when ever you're in Roncesvalles.

They have everything a kid could want, and while I was visiting I watched while this one little boy tried in AGONY to pick "only one thing" (his mom). How to choose from among the balloons, toys, candy, trading cards.......and PEZ. Loads of PEZ? It was funny actually, he tried to bargain ("what about two small things?") which was smart....but ultimately he went for a PEZ. Both toy and candy together with that choice, smart little man.

We walked in and I was immediately impressed by how vast and spotless the place was. This is one enormous place. There's a ton of seating in the main area, and if that's not enough, there's a whole other seating area around the corner. Everything looked really tasty but we decided to try a couple of savory pastries, both of which were delicious and fresh. For my drink, I went with the Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew ("Cold brew coffee with vanilla and topped with sweet cream"), which certainly quenched my thirst and need for a pick-me-up. I want to single out the staff, too. Everybody was super friendly and helpful, and the manager even stopped by our table and offered our daughter a complimentary bear-shaped madeleine. Paris Baguette is a very welcome addition to the neighborhood. We'll definitely be returning.

They have deli sandwiches in their fridge and the Harvest Chicken sandwich was delicious. The Mochi donuts are a good atyempt and mimicing their asian counterparts but was way too greasy. The traditional sugared twist was better. They also have full barista services and lots of seating. Great place to pick up something for a dinner party as they have lovely boxes and present well. Staff was very friendly. Prices are steeper than other local bakeries so keep this in mind.

Coming from anyone who hates anything to do with raw meat, this is hands down the best place to get…read moreyour meats from and the one place that got me OK to deal with any raw meats. The butcher is so clean and the meat quality is evident. It is the ONLY butcher I trust to get any of my meats and chicken. I have tried their steaks, chicken and lamb and loved every single one. The quality is evident in the taste when you try it, but the best part has to be the cleanliness of the meats. I never see a single drop of blood in my meats and I find it so clean and nice. You get what you paid for and the customer service is excellent. We accidentally arrived 5-10 minutes after closing the other day and the team was still willing to accommodate and give us our order, which was so kind from their end. No surprise there as anything by Masrawy is the best, whether it's the food at the restaurant, the Local Cafe and market or the butcher shop. I'm so glad this butcher shop has opened and you'll definitely see me here as a regular customer. They don't compromise on quality!

The cafe was very busy but there still several seats available. My sister recommended the Dubai chocolate strawberries so my friend and I ordered that to share. I got the matcha mango and my friend got the latte. The Dubai chocolate strawberries were tasty. Since they store it in the fridge, the chocolate was a bit hard and we had to dig our way through the cup. I think the combination of mango with matcha tasted kinda weird so it wasn't my favourite. I should've gotten matcha strawberry but I decided to be a bit adventurous today lol. Overall, it was a nice experience and place to catch up with friends. It is quite loud though if you're looking for a more quiet spot.

For all you seafood lovers in the west end, don't even bother going downtown or into any Asian…read moresupermarket to buy fresh fish because this is your place. I'm so with Liz B. on this one - I will never buy seafood anywhere else. The store is a pretty decent size, very, very clean and does NOT smell like fish. The servers are so polite and helpful and I noticed all the patrons were civilized; there was no pushing, shoving or yelling; everyone just politely waited their turn. They have another store in St. Lawrence Market which we've been to on numerous occasions but, being from Etobicoke and all the closures on the Gardiner, this is far more convenient. It's on Vansco, a side street that runs off North Queen but, for those of you who aren't too familiar with the area, you can catch it off the Queensway (very close to IKEA). I could see this being convenient for those of you in east Mississauga. You won't have trouble with parking as they have a private lot. I paid with debit but I'm sure they accept most major credit cards. They have frozen shrimp, scallops, lobster tails, etc. in all sizes. I also recall seeing cans of crabmeat and smoked salmon as well. As for the fresh fish, there was sea bass, grouper, catfish, swordfish, sole, tuna, etc. - lots to choose from. The tuna looked like it was sushi grade. They also had an array of fresh shell fish as well such as oysters, mussels, huge scallops and shrimp. For the pre-made food, some of the selections were stuffed sole, some awesome looking crab-stuffed calamari and I saw a stuffed salmon (very similar looking to what Costco sells). They also have specialty groceries on a separate side but I was on my lunch break so I didn't have too much time on my hands to browse. Anyway, I bought six calamari tubes with a whole bunch of tentacles for $10.25 and six large, fresh shrimp for $3.95 - great deal!
