Schnitzel was hot and crispy on the outside and tender on the inside -- not overly salty either. Meatballs were juicy and packed with flavor from the minced onions that they had mixed in. The beer (we ordered a Pilsner) was the best that we had tried in all of the Berlin and Dresden restaurants that we visited. I believe it is from some small private brewery affiliated with the restaurant somehow. Whatever they are doing, they are doing it right, so definitely order the house beer. Super cozy seating (you'll probably be sharing a table with other guests) and packed all night long but amazing vibes and casual comfort food. Would come back if I ever visit Berlin again!

Ya know, small, about the size of something I would want if I ever owned a restaurant. Intimate enough to really get to know the staff providing service and food. The menu was not in English and, knowing very little German, the owner saw our struggle and went through each and every item on the menu. That's amazing for someone to do and we were extremely appreciative of it. I ordered the salmon with lentils and potatoes. I cannot tell you the name of it on the menu but, if you dine here, ask the owner for it and you will not be disappointed. It was plentiful, cooked perfectly (crisp on the outside but super soft on the inside, if that makes any sense), and the perfect alternative to all the meat I had been eating that entire week. We never felt as if we were being rushed through our meal, either. Coming from a big city, I feel everyone is always in a hurry, but I never felt that way here or in Berlin. It's a little pricey compared to all of the quick restaurants in the area, but we were on vacation and did not mind. Plus, the food was so good it was completely worth the visit. The restaurant was very quiet with just a couple patrons at the bar and one other table having a meal. There was no English spoken, but the friendly owner made me feel welcome and brought me a beer and a menu with very little back and forth. He recommended a beef goulash, which I was happy to order. My meal was absolutely delicious, the sauce was tangy and smoky and the cabbage was perfectly cooked. All in all a great start to my stay in Berlin. The only thing I would note is they are a cash only establishment, something I was not prepared for! The owner was quite kind about it and had no problem with me returning the following day with Euros to pay for my meal.

Butcher block tables & what appeared to be reclaimed old school chairs! We had the the absolutely best meat balls with beetroot mustard that was Incredible, to start.
